Do we? The source is OpenAI, and if they’re looking for an excuse to slow down or pause investment, then they have every incentive to overstate the situation.
Sure, the companies that made them wealthy do, but the billionaires themselves? Doubt.
So if the only consequence of this is that the billionaires flee to Texas, with its regressive taxes, and take the wealth inequality and corruption that goes with them… I’m not seeing that as a bad thing.
We didn’t get to the point of self-built prompts, as the article suggests, but it’s an intriguing idea.
People shit on things that are low effort, and especially low-effort trends. And especially especially when the low-effort trend involves something that offends them in some way, for example if they think AI is taking jobs, hurting the environment, etc.
Of course people are shitting on low-effort AI. It would be more surprising if they didn’t.
Vacuum is an insulator. I think you may have been mislead.
Slop is an instant tab close for me. If something’s good, it’ll come around again. I’ll catch it when there's some evidence that it’s worth my time.
How many slop ideas have come to the front page, never to be heard from again because the execution isn’t actually any good? I’m guessing most of them.
80s hobbiest programmers are GenX, and maybe most execs are GenX, but that doesn’t mean both groups share the same opinions.
Not to mention that the article is terribly verbose and never gets to its point (by the time I gave up, that is, quite a long way through). Writing is how you organize your thoughts, and it’s not been done here.
1. A Canadian business posted an image of a sign criticizing the US administration
2. Soon after, their Instagram account was suspended.
3. This has happened before with their Twitter account, which they were able to get restored after a week.
But you already knew that, and instead are making passive-aggressive insinuations. If you want to make an actual argument, make it.
As for me, that along with the other facts I know about the Trump administration are more than enough to form an opinion: this isn’t evidence of a politically-motivated takedown, but it certainly fits the administration’s character, and I’m not going to give them the benefit of the doubt.
