1. Civilians should be able to keep or carry a firearm without a license.
2. No civilian should be able to keep or carry a firearm.
In America licenses are not generally required to purchase handguns, rifles, or shotguns except in the more restrictive states. And each year more and more states are trending towards being able to carry without a permit as well.
1. Unregistered destructive devices per federal law
2. Unregistered assault rifle per federal law
3. Unregistered rifle per DC law
4. Carrying a handgun without a license per DC law
If anything this seems like another case of criminals not following the law.
In addition, per wartime regulations the worlds armies are only allowed to use FMJ which leaves a much smaller wound channel. Hunting rounds are typically soft point or hollow point and expand on impact to leave a much larger wound channel to increase the likelihood of a humane kill.

That's what a compromise looks like, gun owners get easier concealed carry rules and everybody gets safer gun purchases via enhancements to the NICS system.
Likewise, Cabs are much cheaper and faster to grab than Ubers in my NYC neighborhood (east village). Don't believe the hype...
Why should the presence of a firearm, or the reach for a pocket or "long black stick", be a death sentence for a citizen? Why do we allow state actors to behave in this way at all?
Cycling has several benefits, but I believe the current situation makes it a hard sell. I don't believe cars will organically leave the road as more people turn to bicycles, and I don't believe cyclists can coexist with the current volume of vehicles. Proposed initiatives to limit this number, such as Bloomberg toll for driving through Manhattan, seem totalitarian.
Cars are dangerous, but when I cross the street I am pretty certain the driver will be following basic laws: such as driving the correct way on a one-way street or stopping at a red light. The same can not be said for cyclists, in fact I witness them and their motorized bicycle cohorts breaking these laws every single day.
