jayrhynas··on WWDC 2018 What's New in Swift Recap
I believe the compiler flag just disables the random seed - you can still use the new hasher API
jayrhynas··on WWDC 2018 What's New in Swift Recap
Nothing inherently wrong with it, but it's not available on all platforms that support Swift. The new Random APIs use arc4random() under the hood on Darwin IIRC.

There's also no direct equivalent to arc4random() in the new API - you always have to pass a range, which discourages people from using % to reduce the range and introduce modulo bias.

I'm a fan of Fork (https://git-fork.com/). I switched to it after I got frustrated with Sourcetree's performance, and haven't regretted it. The developer is very responsive and has built out a lot of functionality over the past year.

You used to be able to, it even came in a custom box, but it looks like they discontinued it.

jayrhynas··on Please Prove You’re Not a Robot
Sure, but then you're either pushing the responsibility on twitter to monitor how every API key they give out is used and label certain apps as bots, or on the user to look up an app and determine for themselves if it's a human or a bot.
jayrhynas··on Please Prove You’re Not a Robot
And where do you draw the line? If you schedule a tweet to be sent in the future, is that a "bot"? And how to you make sure APIs aren't being used by bots - do you force users of 3rd party apps to enter a 1st party captcha to refresh their session every day?
jayrhynas··on Voronoi Tessellations
It does however mention going the other way:

> If you create a dual graph of a Voronoi diagram (connect each node to every other node that shares an edge), you end up with a graph that is a Delaunay Triangulation

jayrhynas··on Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection
I've probably spent more hours in this game than any other game on my phone, over its lifetime.
jayrhynas··on Simon Tatham's Portable Puzzle Collection
One thing I've noticed, if you're on a phone with force/3D touch, you have to hold much longer than usual on the left edge of the screen to do a hold action, because of the app switching feature

jayrhynas··on Grid Garden – A game for learning CSS grid
The way I see it, is:

For all elements not explicitly positioned, sort by `order` value. If two elements have the same `order` value, sort by the order they appear in the source.

So in the game, setting the `order` of the `#poison` to any value greater than 0 (the default) will move it to the end.

Hopefully the recently announced precompiled bridging headers will help with compile time (for mixed-language products at least):

jayrhynas··on iOS and MacOS Developers Can Now Respond to Reviews
That's actually coming with this update too. It looks like this [1]

> Using the SKStoreReviewController API, you can ask users to rate or review your app while they're using it, without sending them to the App Store.

jayrhynas··on Welcoming Fabric to Google
They do say

jayrhynas··on Welcoming Fabric to Google
I think they're saying "joining" because

> Fabric will join Google's Developer Product Group, working with the Firebase team.

jayrhynas··on Show HN: Make an app by adding JSON to this app
He actually has released a version like that [1], I believe this is what he's referring to when he says he extracted Jasonette from an existing app.

jayrhynas··on Defending Our Brand
I don't see anything in their trademark policy that implies they have registered any of their marks yet. In fact, all the marks in the "included, but not limited to" list use ™ instead of ®, the later which can only be used with registered trademarks. Searching the USPTO database[1] for "let's encrypt" only reveals Comodo's 1B registrations.

All that being said, under US law you still have trademark rights even before you register the mark, and ISRG definitely has first use on the Let's Encrypt mark.

jayrhynas··on Swift 3.0 Release Process
I just realized there's a small typo in the above, it should be

    return data[pos]
jayrhynas··on Swift 3.0 Release Process
FYI, a third option is

    mutating func next() -> Element? {
        //...
        defer { pos += 1 }
        return pos
    }
Whether it's better is a matter of opinion
jayrhynas··on Judge Grants Search Warrant Forcing Woman to Unlock iPhone with Touch ID
"iPhone requires your passcode after restarting" vs "Touch ID requires your passcode when iPhone restarts" Also, if Touch ID is disabled then putting a finger on the sensor does nothing, but if it's enabled it shows the passcode screen with the above message

Edit: with Touch ID enabled, if you slide to the lock screen without touching the sensor, it says "iPhone requires your passcode after restarting" but the title says "Touch ID or Enter Passcode"

When you go to purchase with Bitcoin, it says "Unfortuantely Bitcoin orders are not refundable", so that might be why they're discouraging it for the average buyer.
