jaymstr··on The LaunchRock UI Redesign
Jameson, CEO, here. We haven't done A/B testing against the previous site, but we closely watch our metrics and have seen a lift since the new product went out. We were confident in the new app, and would have rolled back if necessary (it was out for a week before we announced it), but all signs were good. Actually setting it up to do a proper A/B test would have taken a lot of engineering time, and we judged it to not be worth it at this point. A lot of that has to do with our goals which are more about expanding the platform than optimizing the "launching soon" feature set.
jaymstr··on Introducing New LaunchRock: A Complete Re-Build
Can you shoot more details to support@launchrock.com? We'll figure out the bug as quickly as we can.

We do offer a JS embed option just for this. Just chose the widget option when you get started.
jaymstr··on Ask HN: Can I visit your startup in SF?
And really dig Kera by the way. Could be interesting for us.
jaymstr··on Ask HN: Can I visit your startup in SF?
Definitely welcome to come visit LaunchRock. I'm jameson@launchrock.com.
jaymstr··on Ask HN: Sweet.io An open micro-blogging platform driven by its users
Jameson from LaunchRock. We don't email our customers' users.
jaymstr··on LaunchRock Launches
We look at this as a place to start building a relationship. Our company today is about landing pages, but it's not staying that way. The things that are coming soon are all about what you do with the list after you have it.
jaymstr··on LaunchRock Launches
Jameson from LaunchRock here. It's not uncommon to see 30% on a page. It all depends on design and copy. I was originally skeptical, but people are willing to give out their contact info if you peak their interest.

Where we see the opportunity now (and what we're building) is how you interact with that person after they show their trust and allow you to contact them. it's very important to win them over in a way that is authentic.

jaymstr··on Ask HN: Are there any services for collecting emails pre-launch?
Jameson from LaunchRock here. We're literally days away from doing a full roll out, but hit me up at jameson@launchrock.com, and I'll get you an immediate invite. In order to do video, you'll need to use the widget on a page.
jaymstr··on Ask HN: is our 10% conversion rate typical for launchrock?
Hey, I'm one of the LaunchRock founders.

I'll let you know a dirty little secret. We're not currently filtering bots from our own stats, so it's even higher than that. Since the current app is mostly what we built over a few weeks after our Startup Weekend, it's missing a few details like that.

We're adding filtering in the next version of the app which we'll be opening to the public.

jaymstr··on Startups: Don't just collect my email address
I'm coming in a bit late on this one, but just so everyone knows, at LaunchRock we're working on tools/best practice guides to make sure that people are continuously engaging their users.

We're also writing a blog post about this that I'd like to get up today. If you've got any input that you think is valuable, email me at jameson [at] launchrock [dot] com or hell, call me: 717-808-4908

Anyway, LaunchRock is best when you're using it to create that initial feedback loop with interested parties.

jaymstr··on Best startup landing page service?
If you want a priority invite to LaunchRock, just email me at jameson at launchrock dot com. We're going to open it up as soon as we can, but we're focused on scaling right now and a few other things before we're 100% comfortable letting the masses in.
jaymstr··on Startup Offering a Virtual Girlfriend on Facebook
Ya, I can't reveal numbers, but they're blowing up.
jaymstr··on Ask HN: Are there other services similar to LaunchRock?
If you're asking because you want an invite, just email me at jameson [at] launchrock [dot] com and reference this thread.
jaymstr··on Ask HN: Best way to use pre-launch email signups strategy?
Keep a blog and update often. Our Posterous blog for LaunchRock has been amazing for keeping people engaged.
jaymstr··on Ask HN: Best way to use pre-launch email signups strategy?
Thanks for the mention. If anyone on HN wants an invite, just email us at hello [at] launchrock [dot] com and mention that you heard about it from Hacker News.

Advice wise, we've found that the pages work really well, and not just for us, but it does require for you to spend some time thinking about the design, your messaging, and more importantly, how you'll get people there in the first place. It's kind of an amplifier of sorts.

Anyway, we'll have some great data to share, but we're just trying to get to/through SXSW right now.

jaymstr··on Poll: Which of these features would you consider delegating to an SAAS product?
Looks like the launch page is a big deal. Glad to see it. We're also thinking much down the same path.

If anyone here wants a launch page from LaunchRock, email me at jameson@launchrock.com, and I'll get you hooked up ASAP.

Just mention this HN thread.

By the way, the launch page method works consistently. We're collecting tons and tons of data that I can't wait to share with the community.

jaymstr··on LaunchRock Builds Viral Launch Pages
Zach, I'd love to chat. Care to email me at jameson [at] launchrock [dot] com?
jaymstr··on LaunchRock Builds Viral Launch Pages
We're concerned about that as well. The basic game dynamic that we're employing will only go so far. The key is to enable interested parties to share with other people who will also be interested. There's a lot of ways you can do that, and we're thinking hard about them.
jaymstr··on LaunchRock Builds Viral Launch Pages
Rolling it out in waves. Starting with the people with the most referrals.
jaymstr··on LaunchRock Builds Viral Launch Pages
Right on the money. Literally. ;)
jaymstr··on LaunchRock Builds Viral Launch Pages
If this is all we do then sure, but we've got a number of plans beyond just the first stage of the launch.
jaymstr··on LaunchRock Builds Viral Launch Pages
One of the things that we're looking at very seriously is integrating third party data providers such as RapLeaf to get an understanding of who is interested in you. If we can help people get a better grasp on who their product appeals to, I think that could provide tremendous value.
jaymstr··on LaunchRock Builds Viral Launch Pages
Thanks man. Much more to come.
jaymstr··on Rate My Startup (Weekend Project): LaunchRock
We're rolling out people slowly from the top of the list since we're providing hosting. We should be starting with the top of the list.
jaymstr··on Rate My Startup (Weekend Project): LaunchRock
We're thinking about a lot of other types of game mechanics as well as features that don't include any game mechanics. Things like A/B testing of your messaging on the front page, in your tweets, on Facebook, etc.
jaymstr··on Rate My Startup (Weekend Project): LaunchRock
True, we definitely didn't think through this. We'll change that.
jaymstr··on Rate My Startup (Weekend Project): LaunchRock
Fred, how do you think we could/should tweak it?
jaymstr··on Rate My Startup (Weekend Project): LaunchRock
Awesome, what's the site? I'll look out for it.
jaymstr··on Rate My Startup (Weekend Project): LaunchRock
We'd love to know what you think of it as a concept, and if you'd want to use this for your own site. Also, love to hear about any other features you'd like, other types of game dynamics that we might employ. We're trying to figure where to go from here.
