jaydestro··on Accelerate Cosmos DB Infrastructure with GitHub Copilot CLI and Agent Kit
This new blog post explains how to use GitHub Copilot CLI with the Azure Cosmos DB Agent Kit to bring Cosmos DB infrastructure best practices directly into your terminal. The approach helps teams review, generate, and optimize Terraform, Bicep, Docker, and CI/CD configurations with consistent, domain-specific guidance.

Written by Sajeetharan Sinnathurai, Azure Cosmos DB Principal Program Manager, the post provides a practical walkthrough for improving infrastructure quality and delivery speed when working with Azure Cosmos DB.

Hey everyone, I’m Jay from the Azure Cosmos DB PM team. We’ve got tons of Azure Cosmos DB and DocumentDB sessions coming up at Microsoft Ignite 2025 and I’d love for you to join us. Whether you’re into real-time analytics, AI-driven architectures, or just want to learn how to build apps that scale globally, this is the place to be.

I put together a blog post with all the details you need: sessions, labs, and expert meet-ups.

Come hang out, learn something new, and connect with the team. See you at Ignite!

jaydestro··on Steve Albini has died
Shellac of North America - Wingwalker.

Time was, I could move my arms like a bird Fly!

She was a wingwalker Pitgirl of the sky

[Verse] And now I got an engine A big perverted engine It runs on strength of will Who could deny me the right to fly? You know, it's my art When I form my body in the shape of a plane...

[Chorus] I'm a plane! I'm a plane! I'm a plane! I'm a plane!

[Verse] Now I got an airframe A big perverted airframe You know, It's my art When I disguise my body in the shape of a plane [Chorus] I'm a plane! (I'm a plane!) I'm a plane! (I'm a plane!) I'm a plane! (I'm a plane!) I'm a plane! (I'm a plane!)

[Outro]

(Look at me, look at me - I'm a plane! Look at me, I'm a plane! Look at me!)

And the plane becomes a metaphor for my life And as I suffer for it Like I'm insane, as it says... So she suffers under the weight of my plane You know? It's my art! When I disguise my body in the shape of a plane...

Plane! (Plane!)

RIP Steve.

MongoDB | Developer Advocate (EMEA) | Dublin | ONSITE, FULL-TIME

We achieve this by bringing together a distinctive mix of diverse skills, experiences, and backgrounds. We work as a team––creating an open forum for innovative thought, candid discussion, and mutual respect. But in the end, we always put commitment over consensus, and value excellence in all its wonderful forms.

https://www.mongodb.com/careers/jobs/681648

The Developer Advocacy team educates and empowers developers who want to build applications on MongoDB through technical content, including sample applications, presentations and blog posts.

We are an ally to technical teams and help them on the journey from minimum viable product to production application. Whether you are a startup or a Fortune 500 company we can help you adopt MongoDB and accelerate your time to value.

Our ideal candidate will have at least 5 years experience developing and/or working with customers in a technical role. You should be comfortable presenting in person and online and should be able to succeed in satisfying the call for papers at conferences such as Devoxx, EuroPython and Web Summit.

You should an expert teacher with the ability to explain complex issues in a simple understandable manner. You must be able to command the respect of your technical peers in the pre-sales, consulting and engineering organizations at MongoDB.

jaydestro··on Ask HN: How did you significantly reduce your AWS cost?
So, aside from using reserved instances...

1. Autoscale with triggers based on utilization. 2. Don't use a full OS if you don't need, consider containers that are extremely targeted with your needs only. 3. Services help, you don't need to build everything on your own.

jaydestro··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (October 2017)
MongoDB is hiring for driver developers, developer advocates and much much more.

mongodb employee here

https://www.mongodb.com/who-uses-mongodb

I don't see a ton of hatred and fear from Cisco, Facebook and Google.

I dig what they've done, especially facebook, with MongoDB. Reconsider 2012 opinions and read about 2017's MongoDB.

jaydestro··on Ask HN: Should I not use MongoDB?
hey there, i am a person from mdb:

one thing i should express, many of the negative sentiments of mongodb are related to outdated facts or commentary. review some of the new features to ensure you're getting all the benefits mongodb has produced since the days of 2012.

jaydestro··on Ask HN: What is your profession?
i am a developer advocate.

i worked as a system admin, platform eng and devops eng for years. eventually moved into a role that allowed me to use all these skills to help developers.

fun job, high reward, great for people who like people.

jaydestro··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (September 2017)
MongoDB is looking for Developer Advocate in the NYC and SV regions.

https://www.mongodb.com/careers/job/671278?gh_jid=671278

We’re a team of software experts who love teaching developers and celebrating their success. By joining our team, will also join our mission to enable developer innovation. Our best days are spent helping developers write and deploy secure, reliable, and fault-tolerant software. This role will report to the Senior Manager of Developer Advocacy.

Our ideal candidate for this role should have a background in engineering and software development, and have proven success in helping other developers to build reliable and scalable, fault-tolerant applications. You get excited about new technologies, and by the prospect of engaging with open source project maintainers and community members in person, on online forums, and on social media.

Personally, I've been able to take on creative projects rooted in technology. That's the core of what the position is. This summer I did things like introduce utilization of nodejs apps with MongoDB, show back end as a service software, do developer live stream videos as well as tutorials. That was like in a single quarter all based on stuff I wanted to try to accomplish. It's a fun job, it's a chance to take the skills you have accumulated over time and assist others in using them to build apps and services with MongoDB.

We're focused on software languages like Python, Go, JavaScript and building apps with the MEAN stack. We're helping people do things like this, data science, IoT, games and more. We want to help people do this in Clouds like AWS, Google and Azure... but having datacenter and bare metal support helps!

What's life like? You'll get to write apps, blog, build videos and work with community members. You'll help with the marketing team regarding how the technology of MongoDB and the products our engineering team can help developers. You will attend and speak at events. You'll even get a chance to work on product launches when updates or brand new products are released. You'll be able to create new apps with these products and features first, so you can then teach other devs how to implement them for their projects/jobs.
