jatins··on Show HN: Offrun – manage every coding agent from one workspace
Congrats on this ship, it's hard to get anything out there!

However, as many other comments have mentioned -- how do you plan to get users in a crowded space?

jatins··on Sites in ChatGPT
Probably the most underwhelming feature of Chatgpt. I dont know why its so slow and overall terrible as compared to Claude artifacts
jatins··on Go Concurrency Distilled
> superior approach

superior how -- What does it do better over Go channels in your opinion?

jatins··on Claude Opus 5.5
> We’ve made major improvements to the way Opus 5.5 writes and communicates, one of the most common areas of feedback we heard about Opus 5. Its messages are much easier to understand at a glance, which testers said helped during long working sessions.

Thank you.

jatins··on The senior engineer death spiral
This hits home. Had the _exact_ scenario play out last year at my last role
jatins··on Reversing Factorio's RNG
it works! others can stop the test now
jatins··on Reversing Factorio's RNG
What’s the goal here with posting AI comments on every post? Does it help you get a job, do you sell this account?
jatins··on Litelm: LiteLLM Without the Bloat
omp is slopware through and through. And it shows, slow as hell to use
jatins··on Shopify is moving from React Native back to Swift and Kotlin
> It's a fine project to do but clearly they put zero value on being familiar with the project's codebase/stack and ecosystem,

As much as I dislike it, I think that's the future of _all_ non-critical software (think social media, crms, CI, food delivery etc). Leadership in many companies is explicitly asking employees to have multiple agents running through the day and that will lead to this.

Read this for example: https://www.uber.com/in/en/blog/efficient-software-factory/ . A very useful system, I am sure. But when you have AI at every layer from code to review to triaging, rest assured AI is the only know who knows your system. And you better hope it's not telling you that something is load bearing during an incident.

jatins··on Muse – Meta’s personal AI agent
Given that cost of building is down, strategy of most companies is turning into "do everything" and see what sticks
jatins··on Multi-Agents LLM Financial Trading Framework
100% of this comment is AI, against HN guidelines

jatins··on Multi-Agents LLM Financial Trading Framework
They backtested with public models, wouldn't the model weights already have the data? I double checked with chatgpt and looks like agents also had web search tool available so they could just lookup the past.

jatins··on Multi-Agents LLM Financial Trading Framework
Anytime I see an investment framework I look for a “Performance” section or at least a backtest
jatins··on Mistral raises €3B
> clearly have a contrarian business strategy to the other AI labs

What’s contrarian? Dont they also sell API and subscription like every other lab?

jatins··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
Completely agreed. I think the distillation from Fable to Opus is doing well on benchmarks but not translating into day to day work
jatins··on Claude Fable 5.1 and Claude Mythos 5.1
Opus 5 is remarkably bad at instruction following over long chats. I have to repeat “Be succint”, “talk like a friend or colleague would”, “no rambling” or some variant of it every few messages
jatins··on Claude Session URL appended to commit messages and PR descriptions by default
I talk to Claude like no one is going to read it. full of typos, often via voice where I am literally just thinking out loud.

I don’t think anyone will find it valuable and I don’t want anyone to read it

jatins··on I used AWS cognito for a startup. I wouldn't do it again
The thing is beyond like top 10 AWS services(ec2, s3, sqs, aurora and few more) this is how most of AWS is. It’s just stuff thrown at the wall to see if it sticks.

I wouldn’t be surprised if median AWS service does less than 100k in annual revenue

jatins··on GLM-5.3-Flash
except besides benchmarks, most of these models don't meet reliability of Sol/Opus in coding work. Opus unfortunately talks very weirdly so not a great out of the box experience
jatins··on GLM-5.3-Flash
I was quite surprised that Zai had deep pockets to serve this free for a week. My first guess was this was an American lab like xai or google
jatins··on I were 17, I'd learn how to build LLMs from scratch
I think the answer then is to get a Phd? I mean, one should learn it to satisfy their curiosity and to build things but I don't think it's going to help you career in any significant way.
jatins··on fx :Tiny, open, native coding agent.
This has some nice ideas like indexing (aider like repo map) built in, could be interesting
jatins··on Meta's blockbuster trial draws parallels to big tobacco
I am old and used to use FB back when it was cool. Think 2010-14 period, and it was addictive even then even when it was just content from friends. Humans have deep need for connection with other humans and they will be addicted to anything that provides it given that modern society is increasingly isolated.

People are addicted to reddit, heck I know people who are addicted to Stocks app because they just need something to scroll.

Modern day addictions are complex and products are not the sole cause imo, they are just filling a void. Why that void exists needs to be answered. You remove Instagram and that time will be replaced by Reddit, tiktok or whatever product gives you some dopamine

jatins··on Ask HN: Alternatives to GitHub
Don't think anyone uses Github to follow people
jatins··on On AI regulation and messaging
> Building the software post-launch of the integration would have easily taken 2.5 years at minimum.

What you have said is correct, it lets you build software much faster. The question however is: is that software making money for the company? (Not talking about what you built but in general)

I think, with AI, companies are saying yes to a lot of things they would have said No to ik say 2020. And as a result realizing “just building it” is not the answer.

Previously your GTM team or Product team would say “If we ship some big project X, we unlock $Y in revenue” but now people are realizing that those projections were really more of a hope. So companies are spending so much more tokens and shipping so many more PRs based on hope but a lot of it just doesn’t turn into meaningful revenue, especially not in short term

jatins··on Ask HN: Do you know of any company that went back to hand-written code?
> I would work in company which respects more code/infra quality than coding speed

Same. But that doesn’t have to be in contrast to using AI tools. There’s a lot of grunt in day to day coding as well.

The problem is not the tools

jatins··on Stripe 2.9% vs. Adyen 0.6% vs. Braintree 2.59%: 2026 Fees
Are restaurants directly using Adyen? I assume it’s some point of sale system like Toast or Square that’s using Adyen and all of them are using that POS system
jatins··on Ask HN: Do you know of any company that went back to hand-written code?
I think devs themselves won't want to work for a company that doesn't let you use Codex et al.
