iwakura··on Slack Says It's Filed to Go Public
Convenience unfortunately seems to be higher valued than privacy by many. This held true for a web agency I worked for. Getting things done, even with proprietary tools, stood above all. The privacy policy was read later, or not at all.
iwakura··on Use DuckDuckGo to improve your privacy online (2018)
>improve your privacy by downloading another app I don't see how piling even more technology onto privacy unfriendly internet habits helps. You're not going to get more privacy by using this on a site like Facebook. The real solution is to simply remove them from your life. See if there's something you can remove to improve the situation first instead of adding stuff.
iwakura··on A packaging tutorial for Guix
I always appreciate more documentation when it comes to Nix and Guix. Being still somewhat new to Nix and Guix I found myself looking up other people's declarations on Github because the official documentation was lacking.
iwakura··on JPL Open-Source Rover Project Based on the Rovers on Mars
This is great. But it's a little discouraging to see the project only use the US Customary units considering this is a science project. I was under the impression that NASA used SI.
iwakura··on Ask HN: What is your favorite YouTube channel for developers?
Bisqwit's video focusing on systems and graphics programming are total gems. https://www.youtube.com/user/Bisqwit/videos?view=0&flow=grid...

Not particularly useful for web developers which is what most programmers are nowdays, they will still blow your mind though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQYsFshbkYw

iwakura··on Hetzner Cloud
One often overlooked detail, which I just could not figure out by looking at their product page is which virtualization software they use. I haven't made particularly good experiences with OpenVZ in terms of flexibility and would rather have them use something like KVM.
