itg··on OpenAI has a LOT of work to do if they think Luna can compete with Jev
If I'm reading this right, they didn't actually use the Decisions API, they used GPT-6 Luna. Wouldn't call this a good comparison.
itg··on Ask HN: Company is rapidly cutting AI tool spend how to prep team?
The 16GB of RAM will really limit you, what about trying OpenRouter and using the cheaper models such as Kimi instead of running them locally?
itg··on Today I've made the difficult decision to reduce the size of Coinbase by ~14%
That statement does not inspire confidence considering how ripe crypto is for hackers/scammers, if anything it makes me want to close my Coinbase account.
itg··on Microsoft Shuts Down Outlook App for Android Users in 6 Weeks
Clickbait title from Forbes, they are only shutting down Outlook Lite, not the full Outlook app.
itg··on Apple's 512GB Mac Studio vanishes, a quiet acknowledgment of the RAM shortage
The AMD Strix Halo pc's are another option. I was also debating between a mac mini but decided to go the AMD route.
itg··on The AI Drones Used in Gaza Now Surveilling American Cities
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Imperial_boomerang
itg··on Everyone in Seattle hates AI
Was this written by AI? It sounds like the writing style of an elementary school student. Almost entirely made of really simple sentence structures, and for whatever reason I find it really annoying to read.
itg··on Garry Tan claims Zoho will be out of business due to vibe coding
[flagged]
itg··on Anthropic CEO Says He's Uneasy About Unelected Tech Leaders Shaping AI
Isn't the CEO of Anthropic, an unelected tech leader, constantly lobbying for AI regulation and is against open llm models?
itg··on Android's sideloading limits are its most anti-consumer move
Installing any app I want outside the Play Store was the primary reason I decided to go with Android, despite most of the people I know using iPhones. If I can't do this anymore, I may as well switch and be able to use iMessage and FaceTime with them.
itg··on Companies Are Replacing Job Interviews with Work Trials in 2025
I don't see this taking off for experienced job interviewers. Who has the time to take off a week or two for every job they apply to?
itg··on I tried every todo app and ended up with a .txt file
Similar experience here, except I'm using the built in notes app on my phone and keep nothing more than a list. When I used various todo apps, I felt as if I was fighting against them.
itg··on US signals intention to rethink job H-1B lottery
The EB1 visa exists for these "top researchers", the H1B is being used to suppress wages by increasing labor supply for basic software engineering roles a fresh college grad can easily complete.
itg··on U.S. inks bill to force geo-tracking tech for high-end gaming and AI GPUs
Wouldn't it be easy to spoof the location? Don't see this really doing anything except adding more costs to gpus.
itg··on Google offering 'voluntary exit' for employees working on Pixel, Android
Sounds to me like it's going to be either take the "voluntary exit" with the severance, or if you don't then eventually get let go without one.
itg··on 79 Percent of CEOs Say Remote Work Will Be Dead in 3 Years or Less
Why do they need to survey every CEO? As long as you have a large enough sample size that represents the larger group, you can get a really good idea of the general consensus. Looking at the KPMG report: "Our latest edition of the KPMG CEO Outlook analyzed insights from more than 1,300 CEOs at large companies globally, including 400 in the United States, to evaluate how they are continuing to navigate the challenge of compound volatility.", which is pretty good if we are considering large companies.
itg··on Amazon tells employees to return to office five days a week
Amazon already required employees to be in office 3 days a week.
itg··on Ask HN: Did you regret staying at a job for too long?
Yes, promises of promotion that never happened despite taking on more and more responsibility and delivering. It was my first job out of school and in my naivety, I believed my results would speak for itself and office politics didn't matter. I probably stayed about 2 years too long until I finally started applying to other jobs out of frustration and got a substantial pay raise.
itg··on Ask HN: How to handle a senior hire turning out to be junior?
Assuming your side of the story is true, can you downlevel them to a more junior position and reduce their salary? If they won't accept that, then the only reasonable option is to let them go. Other developers will notice and become disgruntled having a incompetent co-worker making more than them.
itg··on Webb captures iconic Horsehead Nebula in unprecedented detail
Isn't a nebula a cloud of dust? I'm not sure how dense it gets, but would someone even notice if they were inside of the nebula?
itg··on Ask HN: Taking a year off to go deep on ML/AI
It’s a really competitive job market right now and you’ll be competing with people with graduate degrees.
itg··on X Corp vs. Center for Countering Digital Hate, Order Granting Motion to Dismiss [pdf]
Yup, I loathe him to the point I won't even consider a Tesla at this point and actively discourage other's from getting one.
itg··on Apple Orders 'Neuromancer' Series
Kind of cautious considering Apple's adaption of Asimov's Foundation.
itg··on iMessage gets a major makeover that puts it on equal footing with Signal
I can use Signal with people not using Apple hardware, can I do the same with iMessage?
itg··on Spotify CEO Daniel Ek tells investors Apple's DMA rules are a 'farce'
>it's practically unworkable

I'm able to install whatever software I want on my mac, windows, linux, and android device. What exactly about it is "unworkable"?

itg··on Apple announces changes to iOS, Safari, and the App Store in the European Union
The number of Apple fanboys in tech that cheer every anti-consumer move by Apple really boggles my mind. Other companies rightfully get called out, ex: Unity recently, but for Apple they will make excuse after excuse.
itg··on Advice for new software devs who've read all those other advice essays
When I was younger, I was obsessed with writing clever code to show off my programming knowledge. Over time I realized code that is easy to understand is much more valuable.
itg··on Ask HN: What is your most wanted HN feature?
Account/Comment deletion
itg··on I am a bad software developer and this is my life
I'm going to guess the focus on "leetcode" style interviews where your competition is spending months to get good at it. At this point, some employers expect you to code up a optimal time & space complexity solution with zero bugs.
itg··on Sam Altman, Greg Brockman and others to join Microsoft
If talent starts leaving OpenAI and join Sam at Microsoft, what does OpenAI have left? If investors decide not to give money to OpenAI because their leadership comes across as over their heads, how will they continue running?

That may have been the leverage Microsoft and other investors tried to use, but OpenAI leadership thinks won't happen. We'll see what unfolds.
