Name calling is a way to short-circuit any discussion and slander your opponent.

Travelling has always been a romantic notion: "The Road to Oxiana", Steamships, "The Grand Tour". Its traditionally not been so accessible. Now that it is, you're more inclined to run into boring normal people (possibly like yourself)

Ronald L. Shimek, PhD, marine biologist, Nov 10, 2014: Jan Kocian, diving photographer extraordinare… has been actively surveying several marine subtidal areas in northern Puget Sound for some time… [During a Sept. 18] dive… on Whidbey Island, Washington… he started seeing things he had never previously observed.… there were many animals lying exposed on the sandy sea floor, looking limp, sick or dead. Red sea cucumbers were flaccid and dead… Aleutian Moon snails were in odd postures… pink/yellow worms [were] another rare or unusual sight…. Nuttall’s cockles were on the sediment surface with their siphons out, instead of being buried… 22nd September, the area containing dying animals was not only still present it was spreading; whatever seemed to be the cause was still doing its dirty work… 25th September [many] red sea cucumbers… were lying fully exposed, and apparently dead… 29th of September… A few living Cucumaria were acting oddly, not quite dead, but just slightly responsive to touch… Numerous green sea urchins were found with their spines in abnormal postures, definitely not looking healthy… The full extent of the dead area, and the reason for the mortality, remain indeterminate. http://www.reef2rainforest.com/2014/11/10/a-shallow-water-de...

And the polar bears, and the orcas.

Not just starfish

National Geographic, Nov 17, 2014: Urchins and cucumbers seemed to have escaped the ill effects of the virus until now. But in recent weeks, reports have started to come in that they too are dying along beaches in the Pacific Northwest, Hewson said… [He and his team are] studying the urchins and sea cucumbers that are already dying to see if the same killer is responsible.

If it has goofy security and its on private land, its still fake public space.

I'm happy to see the death of fake public space. Would be nice to see a plaza* built but I know that's asking too much of the USA.

*A pedestrian only square with surrounded by shops, restaurants, etc

Yes, you already know the ending, but its worth watching just to see the massive structure.

You don't sound sorry.

You lied for money. EOF

You're being browbeaten by the gender police, don't bother arguing, its pointless.

What really gets no billing is the Wars of the Diadochi. I'm reading Ussher's "Annals of the World" and its quite amazing all the twists and turns in the battle for the empire.

These programs are a nice application of the "Stanford Prison Experiment". Dress a man like RoboCop and he starts acting like RoboCop.

I want Will.i.am's new watch http://thenextweb.com/gadgets/2014/04/05/will-building-smart...

Brace yourself for a hot war.

I would love it if some enterprising person ranked restaurants by a quietness rating.

The army gives the police all that gear for free. http://fox59.com/2014/05/12/armed-for-war-local-police-tote-...

"As he spoke, Downing was perched in the driver’s seat of a $650,000 Mine Resistant Vehicle (MRAP) that once protected soldiers in Afghanistan from mines, rocket-propelled grenades and .50-caliber weapons.

The Morgan County SWAT Team acquired the armored vehicle for essentially the cost of gas and the time of two deputies to drive to Mississippi and pick it up and bring it back home to Martinsville."

My mom helped a kid with autism using the Son-Rise program. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Son-Rise program. It worked well for him.

Point a phone in a direction and see geocoded tweets taking into consideration the position of the phone, gps, etc.

Rockets versus guided missiles?

This was sort of sad/pathetic from yesterday, ABC News says that the devastation caused by an Israeli guided missile is from a Hamas rocket. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FvKaeeFH03I

Hopefully twister takes off. http://twister.net.co/

A lot of charities are scams, that would make a better slate article.

Crichton said it best, https://www.cfa.harvard.edu/~scranmer/SPD/crichton.html

Soon they'll throw you in jail for questioning it, like they do with the Holocaust. Won't that be progressive!

The government says suicide and everyone simply believes it. shakes head

If libertarians controlled the school systems, then mainstream liberalism would be a fringe movement.

It got the Caribou coffee question of the day, "what battle ended the civil war" "surrender at Appomattox ended the civil war"

An organism made out of 100 trillion machines? "Science" says it happened by accident. Not much point in arguing though. I'll just leave people with this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Id2rZS59xSE

For some reason, liberals like to be offended on behalf of other groups.
