But I think for it to work well you need a better strategy than just large BLOBs.
GridFS for MongoDB - https://docs.mongodb.com/manual/core/gridfs/
ReGrid for RethinkDB - https://github.com/internalfx/rethinkdb-regrid
I'm sure the same concept could apply to other databases.
If you need someone to teach you, it will be hard to keep up.
If you can teach yourself, you don't need college.
I Never went to a university.
I have no degree.
I have the best career I can imagine.
I hope legislators don't derail me.
[5:00-10:00] Wake up (no alarm).
[+:10] Grab coffee cup, walk to casita.
[+:5] Make coffee.
[+8-15 hours] Sit at desk.
[+:01] Leave casita.
I have a very solitary career.
Agreed, I work with a very small company. But it's still useful for moving even test data around. All you need is a source DB and a target.
> connection bandwidth
That gets more complicated...The rated bandwidth is 100mb, the most I've ever pulled from the DB over the VPN was ~25mb.
> amount of data which was actually saved from being transferred
That is mostly a function of how much data was changed since last sync. The hashes themselves are very small, even if you let RethinkDB generate all your id's. It only takes 13MB of bandwidth to download all the hashes for a table of ~210000 records.

Slava Akhmechet is aware of the project, and Daniel Mewes has helped me adapt GridFS to RethinkDB.
The spec is also currently out of date. It needs to be updated to match the current state of development.
Mostly, just method names have changed.
