instagib··on Nissan's third generation e-POWER powertrain
Hopefully it’s better than the second gen. Gas engine front only puts power to one wheel and electric rear only puts power to one wheel while the other two sit idle. Bad state for a mild 4x4 unless you keep it on pavement.
instagib··on How much oil-market buffer is left?
Alfano said. “Additional Group III production is being built in the U.S., but it won’t be ready until the end of next year.”

Costco is the only one rationing right now.

instagib··on Sanders introduces bill to ban artificial superintelligence and pause AI
unfavorable or symbolic bills introduced for fundraising, campaign attack ads, etc.

Happens when one party holds most power in govt.

May not even reach the floor for a debate, let alone vote.

instagib··on Student teacher arrested for private Snapchat message
A student in a masters or bachelor’s program who teaches or assists a certified teacher.
instagib··on Olympian Jenny Simpson Says Her Running Career Is Over After Cardiac Arrest
thanks, missed that in the original as I was reading though the posted wiki.

“ARVC can also develop in intense endurance athletes in the absence of desmosomal abnormalities. Exercise-induced ARVC is possibly a result of excessive right ventricular wall stress during high intensity exercise.”

instagib··on Olympian Jenny Simpson Says Her Running Career Is Over After Cardiac Arrest
Endurance athlete induced heart issues. Wikipedia says cyclists are diagnosed with it.

instagib··on New Orleans is adopting Carbyne’s AI-powered Emergency Call Triage software
How does it handle a child calling and not knowing how to respond to the AI question(s)?

Using it for 311 versus 911 is a distinct difference.

instagib··on Taylor Farms Called White House to Try to Delay Cyclospora Recall
>>On Monday, however, the FDA said that the "false-positive lab sample DOES NOT change the basis for [the] FDA's ongoing outbreak investigation or the overwhelming epidemiological data supporting the current voluntary recall by Taylor Farms." The agency added that its "traceback investigation and outbreak data continue to converge on shredded iceberg lettuce from Taylor Farms locations in central Mexico."

The false positive "doesn't call into question the conclusion of the outbreak investigation," McEntire said. Had the positive test been confirmed, "it could've resulted in a substantially expanded recall." <<

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/taylor-farms-cyclospora-outbrea...

I like the part where they say “No Taylor Farms branded products are involved in this recall.” As in there are other brands they do not mention which were but do not list them which they could own and distribute under.

Whatever gets more people interested in soccer, talking about it, and out playing it.

FIFA shortened a red card for Ronaldo that was supposed to be 3 games out. 0

One live view for USA game showed the other player run from behind Balogun but that was not in the replays. Both players went for the ball and one fell on the other.

instagib··on Congress Clears Housing Bill, Cementing a Rare Bipartisan Feat
https://archive.ph/gA9Vo Partial view.

Archives having issues scraping nytimes lately. 381 page bill too.

“The measure prohibits corporate entities from owning more than 350 existing single-family homes, although it does not require them to sell homes purchased before the measure became law.”

They don’t mention anything about foreign investments but China is trying to rein in their own overseas spending to boost national investment.

Carve outs: - Investors may purchase homes owned by other investors.

- There are additional exceptions related to previous contracts and legal obligations, or if the purchase is part of a loss-mitigation strategy.

instagib··on NSA director: 'Mythos "broke into almost all of our classified systems in hours"
https://archive.ph/dXddV

“Donald Trump’s blocking of Anthropic is capricious and chaotic” - current title

I don’t understand the posted title quote and assume it’s missing a lot of context or was misinterpreted as it’s a secondary attribution. “Mythos broke into almost all of our classified systems in hours”.

When you put it on those networks already and gave it compute?

instagib··on AWS Bedrock to require sharing data with Anthropic for Mythos and future models
I was waiting for a comment to expand on this. It appears to be opt in but the opt out is not using the latest models unless I misunderstood it.
instagib··on They are looting your life savings
BS until 2027 at the earliest.

“Now, SpaceX and other megacap companies like Anthropic and OpenAI will have to wait at least 12 months after their IPOs to join the S&P 500.”

instagib··on Scientists say they've reversed brain aging in mice with a nasal spray
“While additional research is still needed before the treatment could be tested in humans, the study offers a striking possibility.”

instagib··on 50K Tahoe residents need power as utility eyes redirecting lines to data centers
I didn’t realize the scale of data centers in northern Nevada. Residential customers will mostly pay 70% for the transmission line costs. 12 data centers by 2033 with 5,900 MW of power.

“NV Energy is building Greenlink West, a 525-kV, $4.2 billion transmission line from Las Vegas to Yerington, expected online in May 2027. Schwarzrock said Liberty would be “first in the waiting line” when Greenlink opens, giving it access to a wider pool of energy providers. But that timeline matches the contract deadline exactly, leaving almost no margin for error. About 70% of the project’s costs will be borne by Southern Nevada customers. But this is nothing new, at least according to NV Energy.”

Seems fake
instagib··on Spirit Airlines Is Winding Down All Operations
Management chased every quarter with little care about the long term future.

Took their profits and ran to other low cost airlines like frontier to make them ultra low cost per friends in the industry.

Spirit tried to merge a few times but failed due to their balance sheets. Then bankruptcy protections.

Follow the price of oil and airlines run into issues during those times when it goes above $100.

instagib··on NASA Artemis II moon mission live launch broadcast

instagib··on Iran war energy crisis is a renewable energy wake-up call
Time, production capacity, and materials. I’ve seen 1yr lead times on electric equipment to install charging stations. Copper supply issues with a huge rollout.

$150/barrel, much higher prices everywhere, less fertilizer, and less oil available could spur a faster turnover.

instagib··on Learnings from paying artists royalties for AI-generated art
Fairly surprised they admit the project burned out an engineer enough that they quit.

“One engineer who left Kapwing in fall of 2025 said that the short-lived Tess investment contributed to burnout.”

instagib··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (March 2026)

instagib··on Allegations of insider trading over prediction-market bets tied to Iran conflict

instagib··on Intel Foundry boss leaves for Qualcomm
It could be a win-win for everyone and they inform him they will not enforce any non-competes.

“After spending (…) then a little less than two years at Intel Foundry, O'Buckley will now supervise how Qualcomm turns its designs into finished silicon.

Whether or not Intel Foundry will produce any of Qualcomm's future designs is something that remains to be seen.”

instagib··on Anthropic drops flagship safety pledge
They probably have proof in contracts that they agreed to this usage. They won’t alter the deal based on some bad press nor do they want to lose the DoD-DoW as a customer.
instagib··on Open Letter to Google on Mandatory Developer Registration for App Distribution
Never ending worm approach is to get remote control via methods on android or apple. Then scam other contacts. It’s built into FaceTime. Need 3rd party apps for android.

instagib··on KFC, Nando's, and others ditch chicken welfare pledge
4.3kilos for the Hubbard variety at 56 days is pretty high. I wonder the percent make it to 56 days or they collect early.

Most I saw in US were running 3.4kilos avg at 51 days. If they make it to 53 days they usually have heart failure due to fast growth. Lots of breeding issues.

instagib··on Thinking hard burns almost no calories but destroys your next workout
https://vo2maxpro.com/blog/does-caffeine-improve-vo2-max

They list a study and more info on that page. Probably why almost all pre-workouts include caffeine. Some push for 300mg per serving.

Yohimbe gives some weird heart effects also.
