One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn - its about a russian soldier's life in a soviet labor camp and his fight for survival. Great read.
Had a similar experience when my talented lead engineer, who usually grunts in monosyllables and writes terse responses to my apparently intellectually frivolous questions, started adding flowery emojis to his email.
You configure a preset, then touch to change presets while playing instead of kneeling down. Its like a remote control for MIDI effects pedals. Probably more useful if you have complicated live setup with a long setlist filled with a lot of effects.
Its a struggle trying to "imitate the style" in writing. In music, you could keep playing all the songs in the style of your favorite artist and possible develop a close stylistic proximity to what you're imitating but in writing do you just write prose with the same wordings? i get the keep reading to develop your style but feels like adapting a style you want to master and then make your own variant is way harder in writing.
This is amazing. Great inspiration to train a model for a midi electric guitar solo. Though with bends, vibratos, mutes, harmonics, dive bombs etc as part of the event feed, it may possibly create way more events than this which means more training I suppose.
Have much more respect for "yard work" after realizing how therapeutic it is.Hours in the sun doing heavy work after sitting at a desk all week is incredibly relaxing and something i look forward to.
Nice one. Maps feature still needs too many clicks. Will be great to type in a place and get all the nearby ones. A snippet of whats interesting about this temple would also be interesting with the pic along with the existing wikipedia option.
Very interesting to see the above and below based on your own rating. A great add will be to show two columns: what players like me play here and the actual best counter after that move. An auto reply for the move i make will make this super useful and less cluttered than the usual tools.
Most people who gain any sort of playing experience or value cite Rockband (for drums or Guitar mode - Rock Band 3 that shipped with a real Fender Squier) not Guitar Hero which the blog refers to. I cant understand how GH can help anyone get better at anything musical and there's literally nothing transferable to a real guitar except miming holding a plastic instrument and pressing those grotesque buttons and fundamentally different mechanical motions. You'd rather spend the same time really getting better at the instrument. You have actual music to inspire you and don't need GH to be your gateway.
Galaxy watch chirped “Great, you’re moving again” during a flight with heavy turbulence. I was ignoring the bumpiness until that alert put me on high alert and freaked me out.
Was hoping someone mentioned the N900. The best keyboard i have ever used on a phone was the N900 physical slide-out. Maemo 5 also included word prediction and autocorrect features that just worked, perhaps its nostalgia but I always recall using that keyboard as a great tactile experience and great example of nokia build quality. Still have that phone with me.
This is spot on and has been my experience. The tax-efficiency and lot-selection work it can provide is easily more valuable than a human advisor charging $2,000 for boilerplate. However, I know my P&L best and it has to ride shotgun while I am making the final decisions and I should know the overall strategy — should i be 80/20, have this much tech concentration, will 8% hold, tax implications in my state etc.
Cross-platform support is very poor (iOS/Android/Windows/Mac)if ur trying to use family link. After trying to make FL work for weeks, i moved to another service that has morel granular features than FL and detailed activity reports with web filtering rules but its paid but it atleast works instead of those unusable knobs on FL.
This cracked me up. I have the same malady. The worst thing used to be a few close friends who recognized the pattern after being with me long enough and called me out in it when they knew I was zoning out while they were talking. Ive desperately tried to keep this daydreaming trait lately despite trying to get rid of it when I was younger when I used to think it was a disadvantage.
Thanks for sharing jomo. My hack has been to read on my kindle while standing or even walking short repetitive steps (in surroundings or patterns where I can't hurt myself). This has been a game changer while waiting for kids soccer games to get done, lines in the mall, baggage claim etc. It also helps me avoid sedentary reading while sitting.
Looks like this can use webBridge, run Python and shell code in the background. Cowork can take over application UI as well which is still a differentiator (and a higher security risk) unless kimi offers it elsewhere.
I have also reconciled to not revisiting these notebooks. My handwriting also ensures I cant understand whatever i have scribbled at that point in time and I pity anyone who tries to decipher them. It took a while to convince my brain that this was not a pointless activity and its to stay in the moment.
Linkedin used to be useful primarily for job hunting and keeping in touch with those who you know professionally but would prefer not add to any personal social channels (I dont need my coleagues to know i was a key stakeholder at the mud party at Wacken metal fest). I am not sure anymore since everyone who posts seems to be an AI expert pontificating about all-things- AI and how they can help me learn more (just click their link in the comments!). Its truly become a mud pit of people stepping on each other to get noticed. With a shitty job market, I think the below two prominent suggestions from linkedin have truly "transformed" this site.
"Members who post once per week on average see up to 4x more profile views."
"Members who comment once per week on average see up to 3x more profile views."
Even posting a polite congratulatory comment to someone you admire is now also being exploited for self gain and views.
Dig the Picker which lets you click the chord name and shows its visual. I think in chord symbols and play a ton of shapes but cant remember their names for the life of me. The visual fingering solves this. To atleast be articulate about what i'm tryin to play. All the other stuff seems less useful.
Feels like a new consulting wave which is implementation-led by AI vendors taking a large share of the services layer. The existing consulting companies (big 4 etc) will have to shift to niche advisory or heavy channel partnerships with way fewer consultants.
Curious if allowing AI-based submissions was because there is no reliable way of filtering this out 100%? Would have loved to read these submissions in search of some stellar non-ai writing.
