inatreecrown2··on Why do you need freedom?
Here is speaks on computers, and what they will leave us with: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kqv4-eoxbIA
inatreecrown2··on Extra Big Ass Intelligence
Needs more gold.
inatreecrown2··on Why do you need freedom?
Jiddu Krishnamurti: "There is no choice. It is only the confused mind that chooses."
inatreecrown2··on Show HN: Rhun, an open-source code editor written in assembly
Very nice project. A feature suggestion: add context variables (${file}, ${fileBasename}, ${workspaceFolder}) so that I can run external commands on the opened file.
inatreecrown2··on Toyota is taking the Corolla electric
They have waited this long because Japan currently doesn't have the electricity to support a shift to a majority EV situation.
inatreecrown2··on Rails World 2026 Opening Keynote [video]
DHH is "off the Rails" is not false now?
inatreecrown2··on Apple has added persistent 'ads' to iOS, and it's driving users crazy
Well you took the exit to "using my phone less", which is good for you, bad for Apple (less service revenue, probably less frequent hardware sales from you)
inatreecrown2··on Apple has added persistent 'ads' to iOS, and it's driving users crazy
It really is a shame what's happening to Apple, but I think Apple customers are waking up and are looking increasingly for exits.
inatreecrown2··on Lolcow Theory of the Internet
The dynamics between the person in front of the camera and the spectator sure are interesting with all this "social media" we are surrounded by. What a strange world we live in.
inatreecrown2··on An atlas of periodic solutions to the three-body problem
Very cool visuals and site! Could I make a suggestion: You show the masses (1,1,1), but not the starting positions, which alter the course of events too.
inatreecrown2··on Homebrew 7.0.0
That's a very good idea. Thanks for the link. Ideally this should be a feature in homebrew.
inatreecrown2··on Homebrew 7.0.0
I have this bound to an alias: bu

Run it every couple of days, easy peasy.

inatreecrown2··on iPhone Duo
Apple bought P.A. Semi in 2008, 18 years ago.
inatreecrown2··on iPhone Duo
It feels like Apple is a company on autopilot, a well oiled money making machine, nothing else.
inatreecrown2··on Show HN: Jigsaw Haiku
I found it quite difficult to find fitting pieces, maybe add an option to also show the painted background?
inatreecrown2··on Emacs Bedrock 2.0
Very nice presentation and project.

From the README of the linked repo:

"When I started learning Emacs, my dad gave me his .emacs file. (That's what we used back in ye olden days instead of .emacs.d/init.el and stuff.) I used it without modification for many years. Eventually I learned how to write my own functions and customizations. This package aims to give other users a similar experience. When someone comes to me and expresses their desire to learn Emacs, I can point them at this to help them get over the initial hump, but not coddle them so much that they're afraid or unable to change things to their liking."

inatreecrown2··on Fine, I'll build my own text editor
do you want to share your text editor?
inatreecrown2··on Develop Cross-Platform CLI and GUI Tools with Tcl/Tk
Some of these UIs look simpler and better / more user friendly to me than the latest offerings from Apple and Microsoft. Especially this: https://cgicoffee.com/blog/content/images/2026/tcl-tk-articl... Looks like OpenBox?
inatreecrown2··on Run macOS Software on Linux
True. On the other hand, there are top quality developers like u-he Urs Heckmann that provide native linux support.
inatreecrown2··on Run macOS Software on Linux
Give Reaper a try, it works very well on linux and you can even use VSTs.
inatreecrown2··on Nitter and XCancel receive cease and desist notices
X is really a bad joke with their "Public Town Square".

"Gated Community" is a much better description, but I guess that doesn't sound so cool.

inatreecrown2··on Stop Making TUIs
The nice thing about TUIs is: they are platform independent. Whereas with SwiftUI apps you are bound to macOS.
inatreecrown2··on Kobo can run apps now
Would it be possible to support the Anki app on this?
inatreecrown2··on I turned my RSS feeds into an e-ink newspaper to stop reading on my phone
Are you using one of their products? which one? What are you using it for?
inatreecrown2··on Tim King, AmigaDOS developer, has died
Thank you for this lovely read!
inatreecrown2··on The Human Is the Loop
> a productivity ouroboros.

This reflects my impression of working with LLM as well.

inatreecrown2··on TinySol, a tiny solitaire game for DOS
That gas-plasma display looks gorgeous, it looks more "analogue" than lcd to me. Are these still produced or is this "dead" technology?
inatreecrown2··on I'm Pulling ColorCopy from the macOS App Store
> In three months, the App Store sent me barely a trickle of customers. Had I marketed the app myself, the traffic would have flowed the other way. I would've been sending my customers to Apple and paying a tax for the privilege.

This is a key insight: In marketing your App Store app, you work for Apple, for free.

The $99 yearly fee stays the same though, if you want them to notarize your app. But in self distributing you get to keep your customer relationships.

inatreecrown2··on Scientists discover Kelvin-Helmholtz Instability on the surface of the Sun
Some of the images (d,e,f in Fig.1) in the nature article https://www.nature.com/articles/s41586-026-10871-3 remind me of fractals.
inatreecrown2··on Four simple rules behind Japan's most liveable cities
Nowhere close to 100%. Even on the Yamanote Line (Tokyo's central loop) you will find stations with stairs only exit A, and one elevator that goes to exit B, leaving you in a part of town where you can't get to A without using stairs outside the station.
