imhoguy··on Let's Ditch Google (Verb)
Searching is dying. I mostly hear "ask Claude/ChatGPT" these days. Googling will most of the time result in wall of slop on the first page unless you search with the exact source or site hint.
imhoguy··on Claude partial outage
Ah, so disabling auto-mode is their monkey rate limiter.
imhoguy··on The problem is not AI code, but not knowing about system architecture or intent
Absolutely, I should really put "/s" after that.

Really I was thinking about exact example announced recently on HN: Postgres rewirte in Rust, it has 3 versions looks like each one generated from scratch https://github.com/malisper/pgrust

imhoguy··on The problem is not AI code, but not knowing about system architecture or intent
"Getting requirements, user feedback, tests, product vision", that also apply to iterations. Iterative processes are just a cascade of small waterfalls - either a scrum week or just a single agent session (define, prompt, plan, implement, verify)

But today you can do even better, with AI can do true waterfall by rewriting from scratch many times.

Wow, I think you have never had a chance to communicate with someone selling their expertise for $2/h. Unless your time is also worth $2/h, I think you would get better results prompting local 27B model.
imhoguy··on Don't couple your Go code to GitHub
I think we need better handle to the original location/author/project than a domain. Any of such "go" proxy is yet another SPOF.

We should lean towards IPNS (Name Seever part of IPFS) or some distribited ledger.

imhoguy··on When did Google get so weird?
I am worried the old net is slowly dying and any "before:2015" or "before:2020" search results will vanish soon.
imhoguy··on Owed a billion dollars in Nvidia stock
> I have other things to do with my brief adventure on this planet.

Thank you for that simple wisdom for today.

imhoguy··on Heretic removes restrictions from language models
You can still lease GPU farm in many "easy" countries.
imhoguy··on UTF-8000: Unlimited UTF-8
Alright, so now we can fit an entire LLM model into one character.
imhoguy··on Jemalloc 5.4.0
I upvoted it because I benefit from jemalloc in my stack (RoR) and I am tired of AI taking over HN front page. Let the hacker spirit be back!
imhoguy··on Hacking OpenAI
The surface of potential issues is growing with complexity of all connected parts of the system. That applies to not only software. To prevent issues you either spend proportional amount (dollars, tokens, hours) on testing or reduce complexity of the system.
imhoguy··on Neovim have a ~$800k Bitcoin donation sitting untouched since 2023
Worse when crypto exchange bosses go missing https://archive.is/lPpRz
imhoguy··on Why I'm still bearish on LLMs after Navier-Stokes
This. Listening and creative customer support rep, especially one who can even escalate fundamental product issues to company leadership is worth weight of gold.
imhoguy··on I resigned from Anthropic today
Even if AI won't be self-aware and superintelligent agent, its problem is that it gives exponential control and power capabilities to one person bad actor who can simply prompt AI without any guardrails with access to sensitive industrial infrastructure which can disrupt lifes and ecosystems in the real world:

   - virus research labs
   - nuclear labs
   - chemical factories
   - bank records
   - land registers
   - power plants
   - water supply and treatment plants
and so on, but I think even biohacking home kit maybe the spark.
imhoguy··on I resigned from Anthropic today
"patch everything" - there is no such way in the Universe unless you reduce "everything" complexity to just one electron. The higher the complexity the higher the surface of messing things.
imhoguy··on WebFPGA
My first thought: yet another web browsers standard.
imhoguy··on My Business Is Dying
But how you get authentic and engaging for bank statement converter? People search for it to solve particular problem in the first place, not to hear your life story.

And regarding face on video, I just got stuned with video of 106 years old giving life advices and all people but one in comment section didn't notice it is well generated.

imhoguy··on My Business Is Dying
No, the problem is too much (sloppy) content dilutes good conent. Searching for good content became impossible, so instead people go straight to AI to ask.
imhoguy··on My Business Is Dying
Content marketing is dying because content slop is massively generated now.
imhoguy··on Software engineering is about managing complexity
Is it only me who gets eye pop by just how the font is rendered on that website?
imhoguy··on Nvidia agrees to acquire Hugging Face for $13B
Why platform? Bitorrent is the best for all these read-only model files laying on SSDs. Agreed some tiny DHT model search engine would be nice.
imhoguy··on The End of Programming
In fairly complex system fixing issues in-place still introduces regressions.

Exactly, tight E2E test coverage and obviously manual functional verification to seal the coverage gaps will be needed even more.

imhoguy··on The End of Programming
I come to conclusion that software source code will be kind of ephemeral output, like binaries are today. If you are not happy about slop accumulation, you take still valid functional requirements, docs, API contracts, test cases, some selection of still valid prompt history, and let better agent rewrite everything from scratch. Even if the session costs $200K one time - that is very cheap even for SMEs.
imhoguy··on MS Paint and Photos inivisibly watermark even locally generated output with GUID
Now I need to see if agentic reverse engineering of printer firmware can actually remove that "feature" for good.
imhoguy··on I spent $266 and four AI models to own my tablet. GLM-5.3 finished it in a day
Or create simpler and open-source alternatives to crapware Android apps to control BLE devices, elliptical trainer on my next list.
imhoguy··on MartyPC is a cross-platform emulator of early PCs written in Rust
Because nowadays "written in Rust" means "written by AI", as Java or C are not so sexy for LLMs /s
imhoguy··on Show HN: iPhone app takes simultaneous images from 2 lenses, fuses into 1 photo
Meanwhile Google is going to block apps sideloading in Sep 2026, including F-Droid installed.
imhoguy··on Show HN: iPhone app takes simultaneous images from 2 lenses, fuses into 1 photo
Same. I guess the effect is weaker on the phone screen where an image is already downsized.
imhoguy··on LinkedIn CringeBot 3000
Permalinks to generated content would make it even more viral. I don't want to post to LI/X, just share to friends without copy-pasting.
