imAsking9836··on Local Variables
It also becomes a bit of a battle against the desire of copying/pasting the code (It's even more tempting since it's an e-book with the code already formatted), not to mention that some parts are tedious to type like enumerators with many string elements

Been following this book for a bit but I can't quite find a good way to learn from it. Should I first read each chapter and create my own language? implement his language using language other than Java? Type by hand his source code following along and trying to comprehend the details?
imAsking9836··on 30,000 empty homes and nowhere to live: inside Dublin’s housing crisis
Maybe I'm reading your comment wrong but that would make it even harder to find a place to rent. Owners will stop renting if they fear to lose their property if a tenant remains for more than say a year. You need to regulate the amount of time you can AirBnB a place before facing a fine. Ideally you would earn 300$ for putting your place on AirBnB for two months or 700$ for renting it a year. (Simple numbers just an example). And we would still have the stagnant salaries and sky high property values that no one can afford problems.
imAsking9836··on Ask HN: Have you ever regretted working on a product?
It's really depressing that game development has become mainly a dark pit for developers. Most of the stories end up in 3 categories: work for a shitty mobile company that reskins every game with awful monetisation, work for big studios while being exploited or work indie without certainty of making a buck or stability. There is a reason why most developer advise to make games as a side project passion while having a job in other sector of software development.
imAsking9836··on Ask HN: What's the largest amount of bad code you have ever seen work?
Like reading the journal you found in the abandoned house you just moved in and it belonged to the previous kid that used to live there. Sounds like a movie.
imAsking9836··on Zombie Startups in Europe
This seems like a good place to ask: What does it mean for a startup to go into a Series A, B ,C? Is it like some kind of IPO? I have never understood how all the finances around startups work
imAsking9836··on Every Weekend Should Be a 3-Day Weekend (2015)
Other option without the paycut could be 4 10-hours a day week. Might save on gas and other thing and will still have the 3 days weekend, although day to day activities like exercise might prove more difficult to do with fewer hours every day.

Tangential question: when people in the US say 9-5 work, do you take into account the lunch break or that 1 hour is still counted as workable?

imAsking9836··on Ask HN: Where are other tech scenes outside Bay Area
How about bureaucracy processes and getting up and running with internet, gas, bank, etc? Doubt that call centers have English speaking guys or forms in other languages

Always wanted to work in Berlin. How did you manage the language barrier? I know that most gigs use English as the first language but how about the daily life like doing groceries or calling the phone company for a bad bill?
