illustrioussuit··on Turning a MacBook into a touchscreen with $1 of hardware (2018)
It seems it already exists!

https://www.brightfingers.com/mirrormethis

> MirrorMeThis is a specially-designed laptop mirror. Instead of your students seeing your face, they see the keyboard area where you can place anything you want to share and talk about.

So it's designed for the classroom, but I don't see why it couldn't work here.

One minor nitpick: make the input where you type the link more obvious. There's no indication that it's the input, and it just looks like a heading

That's part of the point! I did intentionally try to design it similarly to a real cookie consent banner.

It just goes to show how ineffective they are if people just click without even reading them.

Thanks for the feedback! I’ll definitely look into it.

Hey HN, creator here. I made this satirical project for me to learn how to make NPM modules and my goal was to release it in one day. It’s not for serious use. The code isn’t great. Like I said, I’m still learning.

Here’s the GitHub: https://github.com/rockhopper72/no-cookie Pull requests welcome.

Thanks!

Kind of misleading title. It wasn't a mistake. It was done "...to allow the ankle joint to work as a knee joint."

illustrioussuit··on Credit card fraud warning signs
I like how the author doesn't immediately reject orders if they have just one sign (IP address country different from shipping country, shipping to a reshipping center, etc.) but looks at all the indicators as a whole to make a decision.

Theoretically, once something is updated all you would have to do is check the diff. Still tedious though.

illustrioussuit··on The Secret to Better Social Media? Fewer Friends
This is one thing I think Google+ got right. I can have different types of “friends”, each in their own categories, such as “sharaholic” or “meme poster” and only visit those circles occasionally.

The only problem is the unpopularity of G+.

illustrioussuit··on Tesla Was Kicked Off Fatal Crash Probe by NTSB
I know nothing about aviation, but isn’t “autopilot” on a commercial plane pretty much just “maintain altitude and heading”? Pilots still have to be engaged and active, right?

illustrioussuit··on The Bitcoin Flaw: Monero Rising
In economics, liquidity is often referred to as "spendability".
illustrioussuit··on The Bitcoin Flaw: Monero Rising
My mistake. I thought fungibility=spendability.

Am I thinking about liquidity?

illustrioussuit··on The Bitcoin Flaw: Monero Rising
Bitcoin Cash was a hard fork intended to solve the problem of fungibility. (Low fees, fast transactions, etc)
illustrioussuit··on Ask HN: Best way to accept payments without extra transaction fees?
- bitcoin (transaction fees)

- snail mail cash (postage costs)

- accept credit cards yourself, which I wouldn’t recommend
