iambot··on Kort - a thumbnail preview concept
Actually it works perfectly on mobile safari on my iPhone. I wasn't expecting it to, being a hover effect, but was pleasantly surprised.
iambot··on Show HN: Storylane - People sharing things that matter
Weird that most of the users who i browsed through, seem to not be actual users and are just syndicated from existing blogs. (with the owners permission ?!)

same as this user: http://www.storylane.com/scottbedford

a pity...

iambot··on TypeScript: a language for application-scale JavaScript development
I worked on a joke/conversion project a little while ago that achieves the same ends without having to compile to JavaScript.

The only reason I wrote it was to prove to a co-worker who was "hating" on JavaScript that it IS possible to have a type system in JavaScript - if that's what you want. Its not the same end result but similar enough to warrant a mention.

Here's the repo: https://github.com/christopherdebeer/TypedFunc

Could anyone translate the legalese into plain English for us lay-men.
iambot··on The Problem With Comments
Reading through this article, I thought of an idea. What if comments were made using an annotation-like/type input, so you select the lines of code that it pertains to, then enter your message. So whenever the cursor/pointer is within a block of code, the relevant comment/annotation is highlighted/made obvious - ie: like a post-it

iambot··on Rejection
I agree with you with regards the post-dive, but pre-dive, speaking from experience I can imagine my 16-year-old self going through that exact thought process (had I not already been jumping from any number of high objects for fun by that age already), rightly or wrongly.
iambot··on Rejection
Your opinions are valid, though I would like to point out that I (for instance) felt the pre-dive fear was not at all unrealistic, and so it may be that our opinions are divided based on our personalities / life-experience.

But never the less, if that is his pre-dive emotion, who are you to discount his fear? other than perhaps someone with the benefit of hindsight? (I pressume you to be older than 16).

I like it, and you're welcome to your opinion (obviously), just thought I'd share my opinion of yours.

iambot··on Rejection
Great read. and well writ. I feel that it perfectly sums up what a lot of people go though, myself included. If only we all had the guts to go and congratulate people when they attempt something, and urge them to keep trying. Instead of the oft scathing "constructive criticism" we tend to give, if we even bother doing more than just silent acknowledgement.
iambot··on Show HN: EmberJS Bootstrap - Require.js,Twitter Bootstrap and Handlebar
At least put it in a gh-pages branch so we can see it without having to download and view locally.
iambot··on Backlift beta now open, featuring auth, validation and auto refresh
After reading this post, and trying backlift out, which by the way looks Very promising and easy to use (to boot)!

I came across the following bug: https://github.com/backlift/docs/issues/1

Cant wait for it to be resolved so I can give backlift a good go.

iambot··on I'm a To-do list for your Videos, and I'm Awesome
I made this service/app to scratch my own itch, I hope others find it useful. Feedback would be greatly appreciated.
iambot··on Hartli - a Web Design analysing Robot
I think this is rather amazing. And kudos to the creators, but I cant help but feel that the "Create a site based on this design" is a little on the ethically grey side. Essentially saying copy this persons design and charge me for it. That being said it does seem to (using the Machine-Learning / analysis) err on the side of being less evil more clever.
iambot··on Show HN: mustwatch.it - I'm a To-do list for your Videos
Also I notice you havn't added any videos yet ;) but when you do, if you encounter anything that warrents feedback, please dont hesitate to get in touch <hello@mustwatch.it> or @mustwatchit on twitter
iambot··on Show HN: mustwatch.it - I'm a To-do list for your Videos
Thanks. I will be adding optional reminders which will require an email address, but it will always be optional :) and not on by default.
iambot··on Show HN: mustwatch.it - I'm a To-do list for your Videos
Yeah that's the next part I'm working on. Optional weekly/monthly reminders of your unwatched videos.

This is a (very) recent side project of mine, Scratching itches and learning to Ship, one project at a time. :) Some feedback would be awesome.
iambot··on I’m Done Developing for Twitter
Sad and disheartening. As someone who also hacks together the occasional twitter app/hybrid, I wonder if this sentiment is widespread/growing?
iambot··on Web Components Github Org
I really like the idea, wondering how to make them as simple/un-opinionated enough so as to work with all other frameworks - a big ask (and not easy.)

Do you imagine that they would all have zero dependencies? Perhaps the wiki/homepage should suggest a base way of interacting with said widgets.

iambot··on The love and hate of Node.js
You should check out the Browserify module by @substack. It packages even native nodejs code to work in the browser. Seriously just check it out, I can't do it justice: https://github.com/substack/node-browserify
iambot··on Content Based CSS
So I'm curious if you say it 'hitches/intercepts' the css of the browser, why not implement the proposed spec as is, instead of a custom function ie: '-hitch-has' that way at least if the spec does get approved then sites using hitch benefit from already following the spec.

Obviously the spec might change and there's no way round that but seems better to hope for the best than to have a custom / branded pseudo-selector. - just a thought.

iambot··on Content Based CSS
I'm struggling to figure out how this works. All of the functionality reminds me of SASS/LESS pre-processors - is it essentially doing what the LESS framework does and (post) processing the CSS on the client side, or is it doing something more magical than that?

Also: the "fork me on github" and repository links are all not working / broken. FYI
