Eutelsat maintains nominal facilities in Madeira (Portugal) and Luxembourg, primarily to optimize tax obligations away from France; can it still be accurately described as a French company?
Politicians promoting Chat Control are handing an advantage to dictatorships, organized crime, and adversaries of the European Union or perhaps they're assets of those very adversaries.
Wrong antenna choice—should've used Starlink Mini to avoid motor damage from oscillation and salt exposure. Some suggest fiber optics instead of satellite comms, but these aren't submarines—they're boats, and autopilot technology is already reliable. Not sure why real-time communication is necessary; a "fire and forget" approach would suffice to reach the intended target.
OpenAI initially scraped the web and later formed partnerships to train on licensed data. Now, they claim that DeepSeek was trained on their models. However, DeepSeek couldn't use these models for free and had to pay API fees to OpenAI. From a legal standpoint, this could be seen as a violation of the terms and conditions. While I may be mistaken, it's unclear how DeepSeek could have trained their models without compensating OpenAI. Basically, OpenAI is saying machines can't learn from their outputs as humans do.
I'm skeptical about Elon Musk being the richest person on the planet. My mantra these days? 'Show me the money!' If Wall Street banks are preparing to sell $3B in X loans, maybe he should buy them back—with real cash this time.
For those who have achieved this, well done. I've experienced the positive impact of reducing my social media usage over the years, while still keeping my accounts for the occasional need to connect. I've taken steps to limit social platforms from accessing my phone contact list and have set a cap of 20 contacts, including on WhatsApp. This has significantly reduced Meta's profiling and advertising targeting.
Market cap is just speculative pricing, the grand illusion of wealth. Then, there is investment banking advice, which is still speculative. The real value is only confirmed when a transaction occurs.
"could be blocking RSS users" it says it all "could". I use RSS on my websites, which are serviced by Cloudflare, and my users are not blocked. For that, fine-tuning and setting Configuration Rules at Cloudflare Dashboard are required. Anyone on a free has access to 10 Configuration Rules. I prefer using Cloudflare Workers to tune better, but there is a cost. My suggestion for RSS these days is to reduce the info on RSS feed to teasers, AI bots are using RSS to circumvent bans, and continue to scrape.
This what you expect from VCs. I always prefer to report these incidents to GDPR authorities if user data is leaked. Then they pay the fines and some get a criminal record. Money is something VCs “print” and manipulate.
DHL, FedEx, and UPS are experts in overcharging to process a form and not caring about customers. Duty and VAT are usually low compared to this processing fee, and shipping has already been paid. Here is the catch in the EU, this simple duty form can be processed by the receiver, an agent (some related to the carrier), or an attorney-in-fact of the receiver. The big three carriers (and many others) threaten you if you refuse to use them.
At the end of the day, they don't care if we get phished or scammed; it is all of customs confusion. Next time process your customs form, you will realise how much money you will save, and the form only has less than 8 fields, the Union Customs Code is easy to read.
I run two SMEs in Tourism, and as their size is small we opted years ago, to spend certification costs into CO2e offsetting. We use United Nations Sustainable Development Goals as a pillars for managing.
The recent Netflix password-sharing cracking may create some Roku victims.
The other day, I reviewed the devices logging into my account, all inside my house. However, there was one caveat: two Apple TVs in IPv6 and one Roku in IPV4, with different ASNs, showing as two separate networks 900 km apart. I didn’t receive any Netflix notice so far.
The decrease in the typical duration of tourists' stays in Portugal, which has gone from 6.7 days to 4 days in the past decade, is likely to affect various aspects of the country's tourism infrastructure, including its airports. Additionally, there has been a problem with noise pollution in residential areas due to touristic establishments like bars and nightclubs.
"Yubico has partnered with Cloudflare to offer its hardware authentication security keys — at prices as low as $10 per key — to Cloudflare customers." — Cloudflare Dashboard
"science-policy specialists expressed concern that the Wuhan Institute of Virology" is precisely my concern. It is always a "wait and see", instead of planning in case something goes wrong. Public health is consistently the speciality among medicine students they don't want.
In this case Gov.UK PaaS has a single vendor, AWS. I am in favour of multiple options, multiple vendors. The certification can be done by Gov UK agency that guarantees vendors up to spec. The current model "Forestry Commission" still needs to build, develop, define spec, buy and pay Gov.UK PaaS.
Sounds lovely but limits competition and innovation, promoting oligopolies. I admire the nerve of "10% Procurement fee". Wait until there is a guideline that demands the use of GOV.UK Platform as a Service (PaaS) for the UK Public sector.
A sensible approach would have been a list of certified service providers and contact points for contracting.
Two months ago, I had a similar experience with one "lawyer", the same letter from another "lawyer" a week later. In the end, none were "lawyers"; they were domain squatters. I ignored them, and they went away. (this is not legal advice, but you have to be sure if these are lawful people or scammers).

Portuguese Parliament and Government publish law every day and afterhours[1], as a citizen I have to keep up with this. MPs believe they are doing a great job by producing more Law, instead of checking if what is in place is accountable. A common behaviour is when a "crime" case is well covered by the media, the first thing is said "we need to change the Law", trying to dodge blame.
I have been working remote for 17 years, and the teams I worked in, work asynchronously. It is fine to text, slack, discord and email after hours, people don't expect to get answers immediately, they will reply according to their schedule or contract.
One case is that employers have to compensate employees for electricity and utilities for working remote, in my case that is a cost of €10.58, I save much more for not commuting, financially and psychologically.
We now only track sales, stopped Google Analytics or any type of third party analytics. Site analytics can be a waste of energy and time. Also, user privacy is critical for success. With this, we cut our competitors targetting our clients with ads.
My grandfather was a meteorologist (taught me forecast based observation and weather station data), and I am also a first officer half of the year (as well have education in modelling for navigation). This year was rough with modelling. I use Windy to validate my forecast and navigation decisions at sea. As we sail, anemometer readings are crosscheck with the forecast from windy and mine, and windy didn't go well. Sometimes paper and pencil do a great job. I started using Windy (windyty.com) in 2016, and until 2020 forecast was quite good, my takeaway is that maybe Climate Change could make the job of weather forecasting much harder.
I was paying for it, but didn't renew the subscription, this year in 90 days that I needed forecast was way off in 42 of them, and trying all their different model offers. Maybe next year I will resubscribe, depending how their models forecast over Fall and Winter.
