I’ve been using Dokku for 7 years and counting, both professionally and for hobby stuff. It’s a very mature project that has never gotten in the way, and keeps getting better.

You are free to distribute your days as you wish mostly. The 4 consecutive weeks thing is something that the employer is not allowed to deny you. The norm is to use the 4 weeks and then use the remaining days to stretch public holidays a little further.

huesatbri··on Ask HN: Ever hit a professional goal but felt surprised by your reaction?
For most of my life that number has been 0. The past five years I’ve seen it slowly rise into double digits. The level of anxiety is still the same because I always go “but then what?”.

huesatbri··on Ask HN: How do you play synchronized audio across multiple receivers in 2024?
I’ve had success with Snapcast when looking into this previously https://github.com/badaix/snapcast
huesatbri··on Ask HN: Has HN become too skewed towards AI/LLM?
The average productivity increase is not 1500% though.
huesatbri··on Ask HN: What products other than Obsidian share the file over app philosophy?
The idea of ”local first” is sort of related: https://www.inkandswitch.com/local-first/

I think tldraw is an application that does this well in the browser. When you open it up you can start working right away, your work is automatically saved in localstorage or similar, but you can always save to a file. And you can also click share and get live collaboration on the document. Saving to a file still works the same.

It’s best of both worlds I think. I get the convenience of a web application with sync/collaboration, and I have control of the files if I want to. The format is plain JSON and if the original application goes away I could put together a renderer so that I can view the file.
