A better way is to trigger events based on scroll, that way you can better tell if there's been actual engagement on the page. I personally use this jquery based scroll tracking script for GA by Rob. http://robflaherty.github.io/jquery-scrolldepth/

just started typing as soon as it opened which felt like a good change from adjusting fonts
here is a doc I wrote if some wants to check it out quickly https://draftin.com/documents/5606?token=SWh7LSoED_pnCwLtgJR...
But the op comes across as very harsh against a product that he hasnt tested and at most has been used by very few people. I think it may generally be bash against the hype of the product rather than anything it offers.
I'd think that if it retains data from 25th within a few months it would be able to show a very good estimate of total active users

Google Analytics is the most basic one they start with because its free and easily extendable.
Kissmetrics or Mixpanel for extended time period analysis (cohort, churn, clv).
Mailchimp and Visual Website Optimizer offer one click integration with GA. Mailchimp can be integrated with KM too so that helps tying the data together initially.
Usually once they setup KM/MP they use it for day to day and keep GA as backup. But alot of times you'd find yourself going back to GA to measure impact of an action that you werent tracking in KM.
good luck with the future of like.fm
My thoughts: i m intrigued by the practice engine but with no demo, no convincing plus a limited course offering, im going on blind faith. the value proposition is hidden. images are overwhelming and i lose all my attention to them.
hope this helps. good luck.
I do agree with your point about generally in having a more realtime and relevant serach engine. But I think instead of twitter some one working across networks would be in a better position.
bit.ly is going in this direction with its redesign and rt.ly and social sharing widgets like Addthis and Sharethis would also have a very good view of realtime data. That they could use.
The only advantage I could see with twitter is if they do sentiment analysis of the tweet text and then understand relevance. The context they have available could be akin to how google bot uses link title and anchor text but with 140characters more focused.
Twitter ending availability I think had more to do with google clearing space to forthcoming integration of g+
I think twitter is better with focusing on their core competency of providing real time information rather then being side tracked into something very different.
Apple's stake makes good sense because offers both backups and decreases reliance on others. For Twitter it gurantees a medium/eyeballs and for Apple content.

congrats on the success.
they are just connecting all the services and features into a single coherent thing
Having something in the back of your mind can result in surprisingly efficient solutions, while you carry on implementing the last good thought you had.
This is one of the harder things for me when starting on a contract. I dont want to appear pushy and turn them away nor interested in going back to negotiating.
Ps. I am from south asia so I also think there is a expectation of a need for haggling.
oh that must be so statistically valid. please base your assumption about 900m userbase from a 1000+ sample out of which 21% dont have an account to begin with.
What would be a more effective way to understand sentiment? Or is it the best we can get without manual intervention?
