Going out foraging and being able to identify plants and fungi by simply resting my vision on something for a pause is the sci Fi tech I actually want
I think that horrifies people.
Couldn't have said it better
What would be more interesting is a thought on modern alternatives. Something that ensures employees retain some iota of power in the economy.
What is it? What would it look like?
When I went to college I got my ass kicked by being forced to do difficult things the hard way (to grossly over simplify my education) which in turn gave me a level of intellectual independence.
There is certainly theatre to universities and I agree the models are broken for what they are used for, but for the institutions that are truly challenging students, the answers are not the point. The challenge is.
AI removes that challenge and creates nothing but a dependency. That's the real issue here, not the failings of higher Ed
In a way I miss it because it was such a social thing to do. I have zero interest in smoking any more but the rituals around it were nice
If you have not reached that level as a firm, a good and recent pen test does the trick.
My kids do not need to see beheadings and exploding people. I could have done without that exposure. It was certainly traumatic.
E.g. You can visually structure the arc of the story and add/del, drag and drop chapters. You can analyze the mood of a given chapter to see if you're tracking towards your intentions. You can check your verb usage to see if you're being too simplistic.
One of the cooler aspects in my opinion is that it has a canon tracker. So the characteristics of your characters and the events that impact them don't get lost in the weeds. E.g. if your guy is a vampire slayer in one chapter and a dentist in another, it'll flag that for you.
The one thing this absolutely does not do for you is write the story itself. We packed it with features, but we felt it was imperative authors still write their story. There is no AI generation here.
To me this is a really fantastic example of technology enhancing and encouraging instead of replacing.
Give it a view, let us know what you think, and obviously backers are always welcome but feedback is equally as valuable
It is indeed a lifetime license for backers. Add-ons/modules will probably be separate but that's still a ways away. The base platform is pretty feature rich so we'll be dialing that in for some time
Something we are all coming to realize a little too late
Shows over, go outside. Hang with your friends. Or be really rebellious and do nothing for a while but watch the clouds (and never tell a soul you did it!)
It's my theory that crying evolved as a trait because it forces parents to go find some place safe lest a predator finds them, thus ensuring the helpless kid can grow in safe environments.
Note that there is no mention of sleep in there. That's bonus round if you get it.
"A recurring meeting serves as a powerful forcing function for long-running projects."
No it doesn't. It serves as a burden ball that gets kicked around on the calendar field once the value of the series has been tapped out but no one wants to cancel it.
These, to me, feel like artifacts of a bygone era, now replaced by the boiled down version - group chats with friends. Telegram has every feature you need in a platform and you get the joy of "circles" as one poster mentioned, by simply having different group chats.
Plus it's not exposed to the public.
1910 book, but actually does the job well
Personally what I think I'm seeing is a breaking down of walls. Now ideas that once would have gone back to the imagination vault finally have a pathway to reality.
