There's also this ultrasound company that sells lab equipment, but has a cold brewing via sonification page as well https://www.hielscher.com/ultrasonic-extraction-of-caffeine-...

any spots in mind? I never know where to go search
hobolord··on Sometimes, a Greener Grid Means a 40k% Spike in Power Prices
> Clean energy advocates point to batteries as a solution to renewables’ intermittent nature

Not just batteries, but an efficient grid that uses all the resources in an optimal manner. This was always the goal in creating microgrids, to be able to not rely on the main grid unless required, and when required the main grid would be able to perhaps use another microgrid's resources.

I currently do a lot of backend work building tools required for a power company to operate within a smart grid with distributed energy resources. The idea is to efficiently manage microgrids so then we can build towards a more efficient national grid.
hobolord··on Ask HN: Has anyone ever been hired from “Who wants to be hired?” threads?
I got my current job from there 3 years ago, started my freelancing career, then moved to New Zealand to work full time

ah that's awesome, been following the tech blog for awhile now. I assume since the office is new, you aren't sponsoring visas? I work in the NZ energy market and this opportunity sounds interesting

is this office new? Didn't realise Octopus operated outside of the UK
hobolord··on Fast line-following robots
luckily ours was arduino-ish and pretty simple to program. But we had to built everything since it was more of a mechanical + electrical design class, so there was lots of machine shop time
hobolord··on Fast line-following robots
This is great, I did a robotics course in uni that was essentially this. We never took it further than PID control though. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oDqfKm4Ovcg

That was a fun time in uni

super neat stuff, I visited their offices recently and was really impressed by what they were doing. From what I can tell, everything was done in house
hobolord··on What the hell happened to Darius Miles?
as an avid NHL fan, so many of the NHL stories brought tears to my eyes. Also never though I'd see this on HN

do you have any blog posts or writing about the graphql stitching part, mostly curious about the architecture? I've just recently started looking at and using graphql and your usage of it seems pretty neat. It seems like it's allowed you to keep business requirements of the WP GUI but given a lot more freedom in terms of API extension
hobolord··on Codeless GraphQL, REST testing
pretty neat, but is this project active?
hobolord··on Ask HN: Who is hiring? (August 2018)
Awesome to see companies tackling this emerging energy problem. Really excited to see what comes of this, there is lots that can be done in terms of demand response and creating more efficient grids.

hobolord··on Sleep Scientist Warns Against Walking Through Life 'In an Underslept State'
that was the last podcast I listened to, and it was so informative. As I've grown older I've definitely been prioritising my sleep more. While in school I was getting maybe 6h on average for 4y, but now I aim for 8 or 9h of sleep.
