Additional safety checks do mean less performance, it's the same thing as hardened allocators. Rust will panic if for some reason you attempt to read outside the bounds of a slice object (even when it should be impossible to be outside those bounds)
himata4113··on GLM-5.3 and the spread of advanced cyber capabilities
Anthropic models have caused significantly more harm than GLM 5.3 and their variants. Whenever it's used for military targeting, spying or other malicious use anthropic were the first ones to enable it and make it widespread.
himata4113··on GrapheneOS – When an app is slow
Seems unlikely, it's java so this is likely related to loading large amounts of objects and having the GC thrashing.
himata4113··on Linux support is coming to Snapdragon X2 Series
I always imagined a world where the steam frame used an ARM chip as an ultimate f you for not only microsoft, but intel and amd.
himata4113··on Linux support is coming to Snapdragon X2 series
better than the closest linux alternative (M3 on asahi)
himata4113··on LensVLM: Compressing long context as images, expanding only relevant pages
I always found it weird that we don't have glacial type input for llms or any kind of active-working memory.

There's no reason why we shouldn't be able to expose active relevant information that is only relevant for the next request: current agents running, time, etc.

There's also no reason why we shouldn't have a cheaper lossy input which uses way less bytes per token - see deepseek flash 4.1.

himata4113··on Italian parliament votes for return to nuclear energy
That was infact the joke, but surely by the time this would need to be decomissioned we would have fusion power right? Some reactors we operate today are older than the oldest people on the planet!
himata4113··on Italian parliament votes for return to nuclear energy
technically speaking they don't have to be decomissioned and when they absolutely have to be I believe at that point we will have fusion which is only 10 years away.
himata4113··on Unreal Agent
omp.sh does this way better by just allowing structural toolcall execution in eval with python/js.
himata4113··on OpenAI is well positioned to fast-follow Jev
system 2 is just an llm with a forced toolcall IMO
himata4113··on Fable 5 – Median thinking declined in August
They are deploying optimizations weekly (if not daily) with various AB tests. They don't manipulate model performance, but they do actively perform tests.
himata4113··on Pirate Face Rescues LLM Models from Deletion
Steam still does this! For your local network only and not using the torrent protocol.
himata4113··on What Zig felt like, coming from Rust
I am sure there's a way to filter directly on cond variable and collect isn't needed most of the time since iterators are way more useful in general (unless you want to print that data)

   items.filter(cond).map(Pointer::idx)
I know this is possible, but you would have to consult some rust wizard for this.
himata4113··on OpenAI and Anthropic oversold AI security breaches
I've always taken the example that at any given moment openai and anthropic have models that are "far better and exceed any expectations", yet their coding tools suck ass and are outperformed by random people on the internet.
himata4113··on What Zig felt like, coming from Rust

  items.filter(|(i)| cond(i)).map(Pointer::idx).collect()
you can probably get away with this if you implement a Trait, not sure how but I know for a fact this is possible, idk why there's an enumerate there when you aren't even using it.

items is already an iteratible so you can do direct .filter on it as well

tl;dr if the code looks ugly you're probably not taking advantage of a language feature that allows it to look pretty.

himata4113··on Cloudflare Quick Tunnels
It's the same reason that exists for PoW captcha, it's just way more annoying. Also accounts offer traceability versus a new identity every time you want to do something unless you want to go through hundreds of accounts a day.
himata4113··on Cloudflare Quick Tunnels
This requires zero effort and you can deploy hundreds to thousands while maintaining 1000 gmail, proton etc takes resources and money.
himata4113··on Cloudflare Quick Tunnels
This has existed for a long time and has been abused by quite a few people. I've seen some cc nodes using a random known cloudflare site and spoofing hostname to a temporary cloudflare site. IMO this should require a login at bare minimum.
himata4113··on Can we stop with the uptime percentages?
There are n services and n tasks, the chances of overlap are minimal. In most cases people take a much needed break during downtime.
himata4113··on DeepSeek v4.1 Flash Is Now Our Best Hacking Model
you can run 10 ds-f agents at the same time for the same cost exploring a much wider surface area.
himata4113··on Introducing System One Models and Jev
They never show exactly how they use it? Only a bunch of animations of it 'working'. Would like to see the actual code used for the demos!
himata4113··on How much of F-Droid is LLM generated?
What people don't understand that programming is very much an art. You iteratively work on it ripping parts out, rewriting and rewriting and rewriting, while also rewriting and then rewriting every time a new feature, bug fix or scaling changes are needed.
himata4113··on China's Regulators Take Aim at "AI Boyfriends"
Personally no amount of social outlook would want me want children. I simply don't want to have them I don't like raising or interacting with children it's just not in my nature and I really feel like a lot of that has to do with how people are nurtured.
himata4113··on After Math
The world does not revolve around money, specifically non profits come to mind where this can be a huge boost in quality for everyone involved.
himata4113··on After Math
I mean it doesn't have to bring 10x more value, but it can be a 10x better experience for existing users. There have been so many niche bugs that were never ever fixed because there's more important things to do, but because fixing a niche bug is now 1 click away that really changes the economics quite a bit especially for small teams.

I'm personally working on a product solo that would not be possible without a team of 3-4 people that are all knowledgeable in that field and would take at least 1 year to get it started. It only took me 3 months to get a fully working solution with $1200 worth of AI subscriptions, the value multiplication is nearly x100 here.

himata4113··on A wandering black hole caught feeding on the run
What is even more crazy is that we can actually look as far as the beginning of the universe just because of how long it takes for particles from the other side of the universe to reach us.
himata4113··on Herdr Studio
It's something you pick up as a skill. I used to struggle with 3 and would genuinely exhaust me at the end of the day, now I can do 6 to 7 without too many problems. I actually get so much done that I don't even know what to do anymore as I finish my work in few hours at best.
himata4113··on iPhone Duo
Oh. They completely changed it haven't kept up since the 5th generation.
himata4113··on iPhone Duo
I want this, this could legitimately replace my laptop. I never liked the samsung fold since the form factor was a bit too ehh. Apple did something right here.
himata4113··on Mistral raises €3B
Because it's increasingly obvious that this is the next step in our capabilities as humans competing with that of the discovery of bacteria and transistors.
