highcountess··on Hydrothermal explosion at Yellowstone National Park
It is a combination of those factors along with what I call TV-Brain, a subconscious assumption that it’s not real, it’s just like when I see it in the rectangle.

Remember, most people in the western and especially American world, simply do not experience real world risks and dangers, everything is so sanitized and cleaned and protected and safe, that they simply do not connect reality with their own demise or even a risk to it. On a related note, it is alway why I believe there are so many and increasing numbers of injurious contacts with bisons, moose, elk, bears, etc in Yellowstone, because they think they’re cuddly animals that they saw in wildlife documentaries and know from cartoons and tv stories of the child that is friends with the talking bear, etc. most people are simply so detached from reality that they simply have no reference for what they are doing that is extremely dangerous to their continued state of being alive.

highcountess··on Switzerland now requires all government software to be open source
For anyone who has not heard of the “postmaster debacle”, as I; it is a stunning atrocity of government that appears to have affected 3,650 people who were hounded and persecuted and prosecuted for various types of theft and malfeasance even though it was a glitch in the Fujitsu software that caused whatever appeared to have been thefts or irregularities in the accounting that was the basis for the government tyrannical terror descending on these people. It also cause at least four (4) suicides.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/British_Post_Office_scandal

I suspect this also has its roots in the European legal tendency to presume guilt and the accused having to prove their innocence, far more than the system has also been poisoned with in the USA. It’s not perfect and getting worse in the USA, but in the past, it would have been incumbent upon the prosecution to prove you actually stole, not just that the system used indicated irregularities. For example there would have to be evidence of money transfers, exceptional lifestyles, video surveillance of stealing money, or at least witness testimony of some kind validating that money was stolen, etc. If something was stolen, it essentially has to be shown what happened to it, i.e., it was in the possession/control of the accused.

highcountess··on Unconditional Cash Study: first findings available
Ignoring all the fallacies, you are correct about one thing; the recipients are of course not the problem, the problem are the proponents of such nonsensical, fantastical, infantile, and even outright immoral and unethical concepts like UBI or even welfare.

All we have to do to convince you that UBI and and welfare is immoral is to simply make you pay for that which you support and not force people who do not support it to have to pay for the cost against their will and under threat of government terror.

Immediately you will be converted from a supporter of getting and giving other people's money when you have to pay an additional 30% of your income to support others who you don't even know.

highcountess··on Unconditional Cash Study: first findings available
Is there anyone else in here that sees UBI is the "left's" equivalent to flat-earth or chemtrails? No matter how much you explain the most basic and fundamental realities that are adjacent to the laws of physics, they simply cannot or appear to be psychologically incapable of accepting the reality of the matter and are baffled.

It's like those flat-earth people who did that experiment with the extremely sensitive gyroscope that proved that the earth was rotating and spherical; and were caught on recording saying "well, we clearly cannot accept that" and I think eventually simply deliberately ignored and suppressed it from their minds.

Do not ever underestimate certain human's capacity for self-delusion.

The bigger problem though is that this UBI cult is very authoritarian and tyrannical at its core, consistently increasing the insistence that they must take and use ever increasing amounts of other people's money to prove that UBI works, coincidentally making the researchers and the common NGO types scam artist operatives huge amounts of money in the process.

UBI is simply a con job, a fraud, a lie, theft, and even slavery ... theft of resources and services against their will and under threat of violence and harm in order to support the lives and livelihoods of others.

You want UBI? Great, sign up to have your income taxed to pay for it.

highcountess··on Vaping: A harm reduction tool or a public health concern? Experts weigh in
Why do I get a whiff of these "experts" were paid off by "vaping" interests (which I believe I recall being connected with legacy "big tobacco" through Altria Inc.) to create a limited hangout of "harm reduction", an extremely loaded and manipulative contemporary phrase pattern.

What monster could ever be opposed to harm reduction through the lesser of two evils after all? I mean, is burglary really a public safety concern, or not just poverty reduction? And why do you oppose poverty reduction by spreading hate about burglars of your home? And how often do you beat your wife again?

"Expert [manipulators and gaslighters] weigh in."

highcountess··on Majority of sites and apps use dark patterns in the marketing of subscriptions
Yes, but also consider what you are saying, this “companies” are really just a group of people, many of those people who engage in or support these types of rather pernicious and arguably evil patterns of behavior are here and all around us, and they likely all rationalize their involvement with some kind of “I just implement what I’m told” or “I’m under pressure to increase revenue” or “if I don’t do it someone else will”.

Companies are just people, a collection of people selected often to engage in rather evil, sneaky, and hateful behaviors in many cases, including the gaslighting about “hate” that many engage in as a means for manipulating an increase revenues … “we are about love … so you will give us more of your money.”

highcountess··on Majority of sites and apps use dark patterns in the marketing of subscriptions
These dark patterns are also pervasive across all of American society in general. A common one that is spread across many aspects of American society is the hiding of the full cost of something, e.g., flights, apartment leases, home purchases, car purchases, internet contracts, etc. where there are all kinds of last moment cost ad-ons. That may look like extra monthly fees on apartment leases beyond the price that was advertised, air travel that obscures things like the baggage charges, internet service that requires monthly equipment rental and various fees, etc.

You know it’s all deceptive and fraudulent just by virtue of that they hide it, but also that the companies usually vehemently resist being transparent about the coerced extraction of money, not really all that different than theft. When someone holds a gun to your head you also have a choice to not hand over your money.

highcountess··on Reverse engineering Ticketmaster's rotating barcodes
I get the loathing for Ticketmaster and all, but can we just also acknowledge that the only reason they can do what they do because the various entities they collaborate with participate in the monopolistic cartel scheme?

Can we also please acknowledge that if people stop going to the things Ticketmaster sells tickets to, they will stop these practices? No one is forcing people to participate in these things; I don’t.

Lastly, it even calls itself Tomicketmaster. And you didn’t realize you are a Ticketslave? It is right there, in the name! Right in front of your eyes!

It always amazes me what they can get away with and people just behave like buffalo on the Serengeti, stampeding through the crock infested river … “those crocks are the worst! Ok, Karl, we are up next”

Instead of chiding your TicketMASTER devs and alpha slave MBAs, maybe stop being a TicketSLAVE altogether. Has that dawned on any buffalo?

Fun fact, to drive the point home. Guess how the predators of the Serengeti are treated when they want to go to an event. You think they deal with Ticketslavery even though the Ticketslaves is how the cabal makes its money?

highcountess··on US intelligence community is embracing generative AI
Exactly what will improve conditions; the “intelligence” (we really need a more accurate term) services using A as I that lies and hallucinates to please. I guess it means we can shrink the murder clown show called intelligence services, since the computers can just do what they’ve been doing since always.

“ChatGPT; show me a plan of sequential lies I can use to start a war and murder millions of people” … “Sure thing, Minister of Love goon. I see you’ve already gotten a head start instigating thermonuclear warfare. Well done! To ensure total annihilating, I recommend …”

highcountess··on Private firms and open sources are giving spies a run for their money
I am not certain how it is now (AI and all), but I have seen that it was precisely a word length requirement for article assignments in the past where ad revenue was increased through page views.

I think it has been a consequence of responding incorrectly to the digitization pressures due to a word inflating culture of verbosity in at least the American education system, where the “quality” of academic output is largely measured in quantity, i.e., an x page or y word length requirement. There is actually also a physical manifestation of that effect in the physical size of our education textbooks.

In Europe, the textbooks that at least used to be used (in a bit out of that phase of life) were very high information density and very compact books to facilitate transporting them, probably also largely due to utilitarian concerns since people didn’t and still do not drive everywhere as much. When I first ever came in contact with American textbooks, I was extremely shocked and surprised at just how utterly hollow and voluminous and heavy they were, page after page of concepts that would have been stated in a single sentence, if not a clause, in a European textbook of 1/10 the size and a 1/4 the cost. I cannot ignore the sense that this culture/system that took hold in America at some point is a heavy contributor to the reason we have arrived at this point that produces such a foam article.

All that lends itself to this kind of fuzzy fluff that looks impressive in a culture where we know that the vast majority of people only read headlines and the opening at best and digital words are cheap to “print”, which serves ad revenue and image/identity brand management purposes, i.e., the economist is still a venerated outlet, because “it has big impressive looking articles so I must be important and smart for reading the headlines”.

In contrast, in a world where paper is expensive and so is printing and distribution, and the primary source of information exchange is reading, not ADD attracting TikTok shorts, the incentive is article density to pack as much information as possible into expensive print real estate to produce actual value that someone is willing to pay for with expensive, un-inflated money.

What you “can’t stand” is actually an effect of the degradation of our civilization as a function of technological development and offsetting all our human reason for being, the very need for humanity in the function of life for the ruling class.

Frankly, I don’t see journalists and journalism, or the written word, for that matter (somewhat ironically), surviving this latest technological onslaught of AI precisely because at some point the current low grade state of journalism can easily be replaced by AI and I do not see a path for journalism to recover from the grave it is already in. Even if someone were to start re-adopting high grade, high information density writing styles; it would be done in a void in an ever degrading readership quality environment as the general education level of our societies degrades into the “communist” uniformly gray mush without distinction that comes from normalization. It is a classic negative feedback loop for humanity in general from here on out; not to be confused with the feedback loop for technology or the ruling class.

highcountess··on Deutsche Bahn struggles to shake off 'travel hell' reputation
I’m no fan myself, while keeping in mind that it is their previous exceptional precision and performance that people measure against rather than comparison to the rather abysmal peers, not only in Europe, but the European world in general. Try talking Amtrak somewhere and then get back to me. Make sure to plan several days longer than you think it will take you to travel using Amtrak though.

As much as “they” recently really screwed me due to the strikes, which was not really their DB fault since the strike was the conductors’ union, which related to your comment about “acting private” while not really being either private or public, probably leading to the worst of both, rather than the best of each.

To give the DB entity some credit though, it appears they are in that very kind of bind of being stuck dealing with the bad conditions of both being private and public, and in a country which was set up after the war to be as self-deconstructing and self-sabotaging as possible.

How do you deal with problems you both have immense responsibility for and over, while at the same time being unable and not having the power to actually affect, and the very avenues by which you could change that condition are also sabotaged and feckless and mired in self-sabotage to improve it? … you simply abandon, throw up your hands and walk away, but considering the nature of the system, you can’t of course do that as a whole, so you become passive in areas; which is what I experienced when it wasn’t actually the DB that sabotaged me, it was the conductors’ union that really committed a breach of contract and engaged in what should and possibly is criminal activity against me, causing me damages and suffering through their stupid strike in which they didn’t even want more money, they wanted to work less.

I’ll leave it at that, and I agree that I don’t see any of these things really improving, considering the fatal actions and atrocities that have been imposed on Europe now too, but on the sinking ship that is European civilization, it is surely not the DB that is there worst among the bad simply because it is no longer exceptional in the public transportation segment. I won’t go into the mind blowing impressive nature of the freight handling and hauling and logistics efficiency of the DB rail system, but is one of those things that is not nearly as respected as it should be for what it is, once you actually realize what you’re looking at.

highcountess··on Panama Papers: Court acquits all 28 charged with money laundering
Unfortunately, often the same people who are opposed to things like what you said “absurdly wealthy against everyone else”; also inadvertently support them and make them absurdly wealthy through things like the various schemes and contracts related to pandemics, climate change, bailouts, welfare/social services, healthcare, immigration, war, etc.

If people wanted to solve this problem, we would need to make all of the things that benefit the wealthy financially but cost the rest of the people immensely, directly payable through direct taxes on income and wealthy of those most responsible and able to affect those matters, i.e., the upper neo-aristocracy.

For example; all the people who benefited most from all the pollution, should now not also be able to profit from the prescribed solutions to the consequences of their actions that just happen to also make them even more absurdly wealthy.

Even more unfortunate though is that many, if not most regular people simply do not understand the abusive relationship they are in with the upper class, so they’ll rationalize and excuse and justify all day long until the cows come home when someone wants to explain to them that being beaten, lied to, and exploited by the upper class is not a sign of love.

highcountess··on What everyone gets wrong about the 2015 Ashley Madison scandal
I agree, but would say it’s even far deeper than that. It’s the toxic culture that dangles images of baked women and values of transgression rather than how to communicate and build a healthy emotional relationship with someone that may not be perfect, among other things.

If I recall the A.M. ads and site image correctly, it was also full of some hot woman with lush lips and skin showing, which is just an echo of the image men have in their minds, i.e., “I too can get that hot woman that the guy in fantasy world in the TV has”, when it was really even more than the journalist realized. It wasn’t just a bot farm, it was actually a male farm that harvested and monetized male dissociation from their environment and biological imperative.

Are you saying that when couples note how they met without being prompted, it is approaching 50% total over the last 10 years? That would imply that there is a significant increase currently over 10 years ago when you first started noting this matter in order to get close to 50% now.

I also have to assume that a factor that would need to be investigated is whether it isn’t simply that people who met on tinder like telling people that for some reason, possibly because they are the transgressive, rotating door, “hookup culture” types that would have a proclivity for using something like Tinder.

highcountess··on With congestion pricing stop, New York City enters new era of economic gridlock
I argue that it has already ended poorly for the republic since the republic effectively no longer actually exists and what does exist is a fraudulent and inherently illegitimate government based on its own words and actions.

The Constitution that created the federal republic is essentially an agreement, a form of contract. It has been violated to every degree and in every imaginable way possible that the only thing holding any of this together is that people still have not realize that they still trust in a lie.

I get indications that there is possibly a kind of realization starting to work its way through the country, where people are starting to realize just that … that they’ve been had, defrauded, conned, lied to, deceived, stolen from, plundered, and abused.

We shall see how deep the cracks go once an economic event stresses the foundation. I’m agnostic on which way it will go or if the crack will cause the foundation to crack catastrophically. I could make arguments either way.

One can in fact not do anything about something for which one refuse to even consider the root causes of.

In the case of shootings, one must talk about what may have caused shootings to start noticeably increasing in around the 1970s, to the point where a single year started having as many shootings as all the shootings prior to the 20th century combined.

Fun fact; the first documented school shooting was perpetrated by some Lenape indigenous people, in Pennsylvania in 1764, during which attack they also beat to death all of the students and scalped everyone.

highcountess··on Going Dark: The war on encryption is on the rise
It seems to me that you may be making a mistake in assuming these counties do no in fact have their priorities straight, only that those priorities do not align with most people's interests.

The purpose of a system is what it does, not what it consistently and persistently fails to do.

Far too long and far too much, people have assumed a good will of our governments because we have intenionlaly been conditioned to accept with blind faith that "democracy" is a universal "good", never asking oneself why the tiny psychopathic ruling class would be such vehement proponents and rabid advocates of "Our Democracy"™, a supposed rule by majority. It appears that not everyone gets as suspicious of things that contain inherent fundamental contradictions.

highcountess··on Going Dark: The war on encryption is on the rise
It's far simpler than that, it's just the reconstitution of what we call aristocracy from the past, the reversal of the American Revolution and Constitution, the pole-flip of the power relationship between the "ordinary citizens" and the powerful/government.

It is he same abusive pattern of lying used to manipulate people against the right to self-defense agains a tyrannical government through the supreme law that prohibits the government from infringing on the people's inalienable, God given right to the means of self-defense, as enshrined in the Second Amendment to the US Constitution. Those behaviors you describe have clearly shifted somewhat in the last years for very specific reasons that the system has determined that, e.g., “DEI” is more profitable and also cedes more power and control to the top, so they’ve been working hard to put in place the more profitable and beneficial structure, and the minor nobility we call executives, have been quick to implement the King’s wishes, as they’ve come down from the Dukes and the Earls, among slick presentations and videos with upbeat audio from professional propagandists called PR firms.
