high_priest··on Show HN: Adboost – A browser extension that adds ads to every webpage
Can it be used to insert content from an intranet server? It would be nice to have the ability to insert ads with company content, so people slacking at work get to involunarily learn about some opportunities or company policy.
high_priest··on Ask HN: Who wants to be hired? (February 2026)
I've read your blog entries and I wish you well my friend. I hope there are better times in front of you, as journals like this, are disheartening https://lowkpro.com/blog/this-app-will-never-be-open-source....
high_priest··on Nova Launcher added Facebook and Google Ads tracking
I use the Nova Launcher in exact same way as you. I've checked many alternatives and none are as polished as Nova.
high_priest··on Ask HN: What are you working on? (January 2026)
I bet you are running some personal server or tinkering VM. Why not use a dedicated, coherent tool like Immich to manage all your image organisation needs? I don't see how this renaming would help me in any way, to make use of old screenshots left in random places.
high_priest··on Ask HN: What Are You Working On? (Nov 2025)
I've opened this demo, on a flagship phone from 5 years ago. And this phone almost spewed its guts out trying to render it.

Why is react still considered a viable tech?

high_priest··on Tell HN: Azure outage
Imagine OG Xbox menus, or the PS3/PSP menus.
high_priest··on A WebGL game where you deliver messages on a tiny planet
I was shocked that the game loaded fairly quickly on a 128kbps connection. I only wish it would say that it is loading additional data, because I was stuck on white screen for a bit, with no info on the state.

I love it.

high_priest··on DXGI debugging: Microsoft put me on a list
Funny, you are right. But it needs to be something without correct .exe metadata. "you_are_an_install_wizard_harry.exe" also triggers different behaviour/query for UAC.
high_priest··on Obsidian Note Codes
I can imagine a QR generator for "obsidian://" links, which would open tagged locations, could be very useful, to identify contents of boxes without opening them.

If the codes are written by hand, then typing them into UI and manually searching for them could be tedious.

---

Emojis/Random Images on boxes, could be used to quickly, visually find the right box in a sea of identical gray boxes.

high_priest··on Why do browsers throttle JavaScript timers?
Ok, but is the eluctron runtime freed of this throttling limitation?
high_priest··on A clickable visual guide to the Rust type system
The 0 is positive is not true, but some day you are hopefully going to get it.

The true answer is that negative numbers have the top bit set, which can't be used for positive numbers. Hence positives are one bit short.

high_priest··on The “impossibly small” Microdot web framework
WebAssembly in a browser, is still JS.
high_priest··on What is the origin of the private network address 192.168.*.*? (2009)
Can you please elaborate? How would such a minute change lead to "a better internet"?
high_priest··on Let us git rid of it, angry GitHub users say of forced Copilot features
I am stunned by the fact at a 13+years old comment can be dug out, just like this, and presented as a valid argyment in a conversation.

How some people, like you sir, are able to recall such minute events, is amazing.

high_priest··on Speeding up Unreal Editor launch by not spawning unused tooltips
React devs re-discovering DOM manipulation... SMH.

This is, in general, the idea that is being solved by native interaction with the DOM. It stores the graphic, so it doesn't have to be re-instated every time. Gets hidden with "display:none" or something. When it needs to display something, just the content gets swapped and the object gets 'unhidden'.

Good luck.

high_priest··on How many HTTP requests/second can a single machine handle? (2024)
One of the reasons I have completely dropped interpreted languages (Python, Java, JS) and followed the "back to compiled software" hype. I am now writing my software purely in Go and Rust and again using pipes, queues and temp storage, to connect smaller programs, tools, services. The Unix philosophy was revolutionary and (for me) the ultimate solution for software organisation. But, one never knows what he had, until he loses it, so I treat the few years of experimentation with interpreted alternatives, as a positive.

high_priest··on Proposal to Ban Ghost Jobs
In Poland, no company hires through the employment office. Why?

Because when hiring through employment office, you actually have to commit to the process and hire someone and do it with respectable sallary.

With thousands of candidates for one position, it is much easier to skip the governmental supervision and have the opportunity to manipulate the candidates.

high_priest··on A small change to improve browsers for keyboard navigation
Recently, I had written a post mentioning basics of my fully keyboard oriented workflow on Windows.

https://amun.pl/blog/post/working-on-windows-with-keyboard-o... (Sorry for missing images, I accidentally deleted them when messing with containers backups)

I mention the BrowseCut chromium plugin over there, which made navigating all kinds of pages, a total breeze.

Expecting questions if the BrowseCut extension works with Duolingo. It does not. Although, I have not had issues on any other pages.

high_priest··on Turning a Decommissioned iPhone into a UniFi Protect Camera
And the answer is as always, it depends. Mostly on the chip & sensor combo and if there is additional heat absorbing mass designed for the SoC.
high_priest··on Bypassing Google's big anti-adblock update
Its not happening
high_priest··on White Noise – secure and private messenger
The file/image storage concept using whats called "Blossom server" needs to be explained publicly somewhere. I don't know anything about this concept of "storing private files on public servers" and it immediately screems at me as unsafe.

I've only been able to find this coverage on the Blossom thing: https://www.nobsbitcoin.com/blossom-intro/

SVGs? So, some of the staistics graphs do not update, or have you made them dynamic by hand?
high_priest··on Discord's face scanning age checks 'start of a bigger shift'
I had a debit card when I was 13. An absolute godsend during international travel, not having to bother with cash as a forgetful teenager.

The card providers share your identity in monetary transactions, but I don't think this data does & should include birthdate.

high_priest··on I stopped everything and started writing C again
Sounds a bit like JavaScript, but at a tower level?
high_priest··on Some Command & Conquer games are now open source
Some influencer coder right now "i don't use IDE, because it makes my coding more detailed & thorough"
high_priest··on Why blog if nobody reads it?
Surprisieg, but quite alot of people actually visit my blog posts. There is definitely more traffic on loosely written content, than on services & professional fronts. And it is quite easy to turn this traffic into organic & trusting visits to business oriented URLs.
high_priest··on Show HN: I made a mini golf in my lunch time
It was actually 424, but I think thk rounding was appropriate here.
high_priest··on Optical Frequency Combs
Nice to see some more posts about light communications on HN. I have had the pleasure talking with people who developed this tech & see it in action.

Apparently, it is a big step towards purely optical network switching.

high_priest··on Show HN: I made a mini golf in my lunch time
Hole in 420 strokes! The only path to the target was through a corner of width 1, so I had to get a very specific set of 1s or 2s. But I kept rolling back & forth on 5s & 6s :D

The specificity of the result after such a long time gambling without real reward is oddly satisfying.
