I think I agree with vidyesh, taxes are for money not for changing social behavior.

I think I agree with vidyesh, taxes are for money not for changing social behavior.
It's probably because of the ad blockers but still a site should be a little functional without all the scripts and ads.
The menu I found functional (and someone else mentioned I can actually remove the crap on there I didn't want). I am mostly against the flat UI (I hate it everywhere though) and the settings that moved to random places. I never had a problem with search not working or anything of that nature.
My computer has changed to be not comparable to those previous though because I now have a nice GPU, a nice CPU, and a SSD. So any speed improvements, graphic improvements, etc are skewed by the hardware changes I've made since.
I didn't turn off anything except the privacy that I could. It's just that I don't have a use case for most of the features (yet).
I will say thinking about it that my computer used for 99.99% gaming/internet/text documents. I keep anticipating that something is going to go horribly wrong but so far it's been great.
I hate the menu and store that it shows so almost everything I tend to open has a shortcut on the desktop or is pinned to the toolbar.
Having a functional toolbar on both monitors. That right there was all I wished windows 7 would do but otherwise I can barely tell that the OS is different.
I never used windows 8 so I don't have a comparison to that but I've seen Windows ME...
Does that fall into their equipment or not? I always assumed yes but I can find arguments for either answer.
I hear that time of day and day of post make a lot of impact if you want the most exposure.
For show/ask HN I don't need it to take off and be #1, just a few comments is usually enough to get many insights.
I am not going to go into detail but that really resonates with me[0].
[0]I'm not addicted to anything don't worry!
Might have just been mine wasn't into giving out prescriptions or they didn't think I would need them.
I have a friend who has so many pain prescriptions after his back surgery that I've lost count of and they either don't work or lose effectiveness or he can't deal with the side effects. The scary part to me is there will never be an end for him unless there is some miracle in medicine that his doctor doesn't know about yet.
[0]I know that's not the same as Codeine
Mainly games where you are teamed with random players (especially MOBAs) and must communicate and use teamwork. Games like Scrabble might improve your vocabulary.
Communication is just as much a skill as any and useful in the real world. That's not to say that it's going to help if nobody has the mechanical skills or if your characters/items are inferior but dealing with defeat could help strengthen your coping skills or you can go back and analyze it and find more efficient plays (analytical skills).
Not saying that even a small fraction of people do any of this. Most people probably play games (especially mobile) for just a little break in the monotony of life and put them down when they are done.

my entire family does it on my mom's side. when you tell it to someone who doesn't do it they think you are crazy.
Sounds like what you are saying.
Nobody ever set up source control for the code I had to work on and nobody but me ever worked on it, the others did have source control as far as I know and at least one had 2 people working at a time. We did try to get my using it but it was clunky and didn't last long since it was just me using it.
It seems so strange in hindsight but that whole place was so so different from where I am now.
[0] it's always something short.
Even if people worked with other residents for favors/barters instead of money the food thing much be ridiculously expensive to import all of it.
I can imagine hitting that one jackpot find but at the same time not getting one seems like it would be impossible to survive for long.
[0]This kind of applies to most of Australia I imagine though.
I wish they hadn't filtered all the photos but that's nothing to do with the place.
It seems like a lot of the jobs I see are for such specific roles they have to reach worldwide to find someone with that knowledge.
The kind of stuff I only read about in headlines here but that I will never get close to at work or in a personal project.
I am just curious if it's rather hopeless if you aren't "THE BEST"[0].
[0]rockstar, ninja, other buzzwords.
I think I can recall 2 times where they told me I was ineligible (because they didn't specify they were only willing to accept EU citizens) and once where I got a declined email.
It probably doesn't help that 'degree'[1] isn't worth much but with 5+ years experience I feel like I am competent. Maybe just not enough or in the right tech.
It's rather disheartening, especially when you read on here about people getting so many offers daily. I know it's like a FB feed though and not everyone's reality.
Sorry for the rant.
[0]In the UK though so maybe they are even stricter than other countries. [1]ITT, it was enough to get me in the door locally though. I can't go back and tell younger me not to be so stupid.
[0]whoever that may mean
I have never used one (but I was always curious when I smoked) so maybe it's a silly question.
That video had me so anxious my palms got sweaty. I don't even get way when I watch skateboard videos (I skate) but I think it's just that video had so many perspectives that showed the height and I don't find that comfortable already.
I can easily imagine that similar situations happen but for people without enough savings to keep going and even then they may not have as high a profile to have their reputation overshadow the headlines.
I feel like I am just shy of tinfoil hat territory but it's not the craziest thing I have ever though of.
