hermitsings··on Firefox and Chromium
I think Chrome, Edge, and Brave are all Chromium-based, so you won't need to switch. You can use Chrome Mask on Firefox for such sites: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/chrome-mask/

Edit: I researched a little more. For typical users and use cases, Firefox works ok (better with privacy extensions). What the article describes is more like browser-engine-based targeted attacks.

hermitsings··on Exwm: Emacs X Window Manager
Yup, the files in the repo--the layout is in there.

It's currently for ISO keyboards (I have ISO), but you can modify it for ANSI!

hermitsings··on Exwm: Emacs X Window Manager
I created this custom keymap that goes well with EXWM: https://codeberg.org/hermitsings/Kmonad_ISO_keymap_for_minim...

This is to reduce lateral wrist movement (to protect from Carpal Tunnel) and general finger movement. Just posting here if folks wanna check it out.

hermitsings··on ASK HN: What should a Python developer learn next?
Great answer.
hermitsings··on Ask HN: I’m New to Computer Science and Engineering. Any Advice?
Udemy or taking online courses should speed up learning than reading docs and blog tutorials. Keeps you more engaged. This is just from personal experience.

hermitsings··on Keanu Reeves Thinks NFTs Are a Joke
Well they are. Hyperfinancialization of replicative-stuff-made-unique-by-algorithmic-randomization-and-blockchain-hash-using-computers.
hermitsings··on Ask HN: Why doesn't YouTube have a competitor?
Apparently, Google's strategy is to target the middle class (Eric Scmhidt said in some interview) which is like the majority of population in any country. Then to give them incentives to use their platform. This worked for Youtube by giving creators money and in some countries when they wanted adoption for their payment apps, they gave back good cashbacks as rewards. The cashbacks diminished after sufficient adoption was attained.

I just clicked and went straight to the site. What do I do now?
hermitsings··on Web3? I have my DAOts
One thing I'd say is the volatility. Imagine Bitcoin as a global payment mechanism for the world. It's capped sure(21m) but volatile. You're buying something in El Salvador and someone/someones in the world make the price crash. By the time you reach for your phone in pocket to make the payment (say) and begin to pay, your item now costs double of what it should have costed. How does that work?

It certainly takes out of the box thinking. Not for every culture but those that bury might adopt.
hermitsings··on Ask HN: I feel so shallow and dumb when I see what other smart people are doing
To me, it looks like you are consuming a lot more than doing something. Mere consumption of media always brings about problems like this. Try learning and hacking into something or starting something afresh (trying starting your own Twitch channel). All those talented people are consuming and putting what they learnt into practice.

hermitsings··on India eyes prohibiting irresponsible crypto ads
The good: People who are unaware will be benefitted. The bad: This will not stop trade if that's one goal. The ugly: They don't do this with their ads.

hermitsings··on Searx – Privacy-respecting metasearch engine
I had been considering using Searx (which I had known about before) lately since I have to use DDG+Google for getting satisfactory results.

Edit: I really like DDG bang and vim like nav keys tho

hermitsings··on How I motivate myself to write
How to motivate yourself to drive? You can't unless you know that it is required to go somewhere. Driving alone doesn't make sense (unless you just enjoy it). Same with writing. You have to "get it out" (intrinsic motivation) and you do it for some incentive (extrinsic motivation). Both are required. When intrinsic dies, extrinsic will pull. If extrinsic dies, intrinsic will pull.

This is something I came across last night: https://github.com/tsoding/faq#q-how-do-you-stay-motivated

P.S - I'm no expert. I spent like 10 mins writing, deleting, modifying, discarding and again writing this reply. The process was streamlining the thought process and edit it to have a most impact (tbh).
