hepek··on Space Invaders creator reveals game’s origin story
Slightly offtopic: French guerilla artist invading the world with iconic graphics from the game:

hepek··on Helix: Post-Modern Text Editor
Is this a Žižek pun?
hepek··on Physical Limits of Computation (2009)
Joe Armstrong gives a very good talk about ideas in the article in "The Mess We're In" (2014):

hepek··on Exa, a modern replacement for ls
After strip it is 1.1M.
hepek··on Exa, a modern replacement for ls
./exa-linux-x86_64: error while loading shared libraries: libhttp_parser.so.2.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

Couldnt all the dependencies be statically linked for max portability?

hepek··on Helping a Million Developers Exit Vim
I believe POSIX defines vi as mandatory visual text editor, which makes it present on any compliant OS and thus a sane default value for EDITOR.
hepek··on IBM is still making ThinkPad keyboards
I have this keyboard. Mine was made in 2008.
hepek··on The Expression Problem and Tables
This text reminds me of row polymorphism in OCaml object system. Or maybe I got it all wrong.
hepek··on LSD: The Geek's Wonder Drug? (2006)
Whenever there's a question mark in the title, the answer is usually no, and the article is linkbait.

I don't know if this rule of thumb applies to this article.

hepek··on Decentralize All the Things
I think the article resonates more with the goals of freenetproject.org, but for some reason has this fixation with the blockchain.
hepek··on Can an Argentine startup reinvent governance through a smartphone app?
"Still, for all the publicity Mancini and the Net Party have received, participation on the platform is low—debates on legislation rarely attract more than 100 voters—in a capital city with some 2.5 million eligible voters and an Internet penetration rate of 70 percent'

I just lack faith in technological solutionism. If there is an issue everybody felt important people would've found ways to fight for it. Even take it to the streets.

Sometimes I fear of "Like button" democracy more then I fear corrupted officials.

hepek··on Can an Argentine startup reinvent governance through a smartphone app?
probably not
hepek··on Piaget on Piaget - Genetic epistemology (1977) [video]
I was under the same impression, even though I do not speak French.

Anything important left out?

hepek··on Basic Concepts of High Availability Linux
Install 5 different things, or just run Erlang on all nodes.
hepek··on You are a Marxist – but don't worry
You are being ignorant.
hepek··on Russia approves use of military in Ukraine
Same thing happened in Serbia in 1999. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kosovo

Only in this case it was NATO who invaded, and it is viewed quite differently from the western media then what parents have cited.

The worst thing in world today is to become the rope on which the imperial forces tug to prove their strength.

hepek··on The New TextSecure: Privacy Beyond SMS
This update broke my working TextSecure this morning. Couldn't access my messages. Had to reinstall. :(
hepek··on Comparing the Cost of Different Multiple-return Techniques in C
Reminded me of a very good book called "21st Century C"

hepek··on Turn any application that uses stdin/stdout into a WebSocket server
isn't this reimplementing netcat -e command?

http://linux.die.net/man/1/ncat

hepek··on Renault will remotely lock down electric cars
To make that work with "owned" batteries, I would have to buy dozen batteries and pay to ship them thoughout my typical driving routes...
hepek··on Renault will remotely lock down electric cars
I think the battery-on-lease makes sense, because (I've heard somewhere) they are planning on swapping batteries instead of recharging them in their official charging stations.
hepek··on I got hired at a Bangladesh sweatshop. Meet my 9-year-old boss [video]
This sounds like a quote from Down and Out in Paris and London
hepek··on I got hired at a Bangladesh sweatshop. Meet my 9-year-old boss [video]
(bow)

Couldn't have put it better.

Sometimes I wonder who is producing the real STUFF, since we are all working in the non-productive tertiary sector.

hepek··on I got hired at a Bangladesh sweatshop. Meet my 9-year-old boss [video]
I'm getting this feeling that globalization works for everybody but the working man.

If borders were open to labor migration as they are to capital/corporations I bet the situation would be much better.

Borders nowadays exist only for the lowest of classes. In a globalized economy borders seem like a mechanism of opression.

Just my 2c.

hepek··on Edward C++Hands
Erlang crowd seems to `put their money where their mouth is` regarding this question.
hepek··on SICP translated to JavaScript
blasphemy!
hepek··on NSA Revelations Cast Doubt on the Entire Tech Industry
"...The state then is the most flagrant negation, the most cynical and complete negation of humanity. It rends apart the universal solidarity of all men upon earth, and it unites some of them only in order to destroy, conquer, and enslave all the rest. It takes under its protection only its own citizens, and it recognizes human right, humanity, and civilization only within the confines of its own boundaries."

Mihail Bakunin

hepek··on The Great Language Game: How many languages can you distinguish between?
Well, distinguishing standard Serbian, Bosnian and Croatian is impossible even for native speakers, as it is in fact one language. The division being merely a political one. One can only distinguish accent subtletlies in certain words.

It would improve fairness of the game and avoid a lot of confusion not to allow these languages appear in the answers together.

hepek··on IronPigeon - Decentralized communication protocol for sending secure messages
isn't bimessage a much better thought-out project with similar goals.
