harryquach··on Ask HN: Where do you host your own-domain email?
I've been a happy customer of protonmail for years. I exclusively use Android and have never experienced the issues described here when sending mail from the app. Obviously this is one person subjective view but I do recommend them as a company.
harryquach··on OpenAI's employees were given two explanations for why Sam Altman was fired
Absolutely agree, would be beyond pissed. A once in a lifetime chance at generational wealth blown.
harryquach··on Millennials aren't all worse off than Boomers, but the rich-poor gap is widening
> Millennials are the generation who grew up eating food cooked on plastic and now have unprecedented rates of early onset cancers

I am curious about this. Do you have a source?

harryquach··on I will always prefer to work from home
Agree on all points in the article.

One of the most underrated features of WFH is my own private bathroom. This is something I would never have at the office.

harryquach··on Post Covid Remote Work Doesn't Work as Well by Armin Ronacher
Until I get my own bathroom at the office, remote work will always trump commuting to an office.

harryquach··on Ask HN: What work/office purchase transformed your life?
Sounds like a good zoom background, haha
harryquach··on The secretive rise of the 'overemployed'
Out of curiosity, are you looking for a new position? This is generally how I have realigned my salary with market rates.
harryquach··on Ask HN: What work/office purchase transformed your life?
For me it's been adding plants to my desk/office. It makes the room feel more alive and vibrant. I currently have a fiddle leaf fig and a succulent pot, love both of them.
harryquach··on Ask HN: If you've resigned from a previous job, what was the reason?
Poor engineering manager was the reason for my latest resignation. I was also stuck as a code janitor because I had been there for over 4 years. Sometimes it's just time to move on and get experience elsewhere.
harryquach··on Ask HN: If you've resigned from a previous job, what was the reason?
I applied to collage around 2018. I was not experienced enough for the position but do remember the interviewer being patient, intelligent, and kind. Seemed like a great company to work for.

I also purchased several gifts from the company, disappointed to hear it's no longer around.

harryquach··on Astronauts dropped a tool bag during a spacewalk; you can see it with binoculars
That's an interesting article but space dot com is an ad riddled pile of garbage.
harryquach··on Ask HN: Ways to make side income as a SWE?
I don't think this is a fair take. Anyone making less than seven figures is not necessarily "Accepting Mediocrity" but may have other priorities. Different priorities are not necessarily worse just different.
harryquach··on Man crushed to death by robot that mistook him for a box of vegetables
I've seen those as well and get nauseous when thinking about them. Those accidents happen so quick, I can only hope there was no suffering.
harryquach··on Ask HN: Are You Religious?
No
harryquach··on If you plant milkweed, they will come
I only have a small yard but there are 8 plants total
harryquach··on Young people would sacrifice other perks for a 4-day workweek
Old people will also!
harryquach··on If you plant milkweed, they will come
I have planted milkweed all over my property and have seen a huge uptick in good insects.
harryquach··on Sam Bankman-Fried Convicted
Imagine sitting in a prison cell, for 5 months, having no idea how long you will be there. That sounds almost worse than knowing your sentence.

harryquach··on Reasons Our Civilization Will Soon Collapse
Or perhaps it's psychologically easier to live in denial in the face of hopelessness, especially if you have small children.

harryquach··on Ask HN: What do I do? I love writing software but hate these interviews?
Appreciate this thought out response. The interview process is terrible on both ends. Like you said, is a billion dollar problem waiting to be solved.
harryquach··on Ask HN: What do I do? I love writing software but hate these interviews?
I agree and will pass on all take home before initial call, lesson learned I suppose.
harryquach··on Auto execs are coming clean: EVs aren't working
The price of the actual vehicle needs to be heavily subsidized before mass adoption
harryquach··on Ask HN: What do I do? I love writing software but hate these interviews?
I love this idea for an interview. This would give you a good idea of what the company is actually working on the quality of the code base and who you would be working with. Interviewing should always be a two-way street.
