harryquach··on Ask HN: Why would I use private banking?
One source to back up this prediction (obviously this is another opinion, albeit more informed than the average person).

Thanks for sharing this, from what I have read it looks like an issue beyond just Facebook.

Same in our house. Most youtube channels we watch have weekly releases which we watch similar to traditional TV episode releases.
harryquach··on Ask HN: Are You Happy?
Yes, regardless of what your read online we live in the safest, most prosperous for the most amount of people time in the existence of our species. There is no better time to be alive than today.
harryquach··on Sora: Creating video from text
There will be a business created specializing in authenticating digital information. I have no doubt this problem will be solved with technology.
harryquach··on Figure out who's leaving the company: dump, diff, repeat
There is nuance to this as well. The company size and culture make a dramatic impact. I recently joined a small company which is fully remote. Everyone has been helpful and supportive as I have been onboarding.
harryquach··on Figure out who's leaving the company: dump, diff, repeat
Absolutely, there are plenty of ways to be social, on my terms, with the people I choose. If I didn’t have to trade my time for money there are plenty of ways I can fill my days without corporate bullshit.
harryquach··on Ask HN: What blogs do you read?
Tim Urban’s blog is one of my favorites although it’s not update frequently.

harryquach··on Ask HN: How old do you think you will live to be?
I used to think this way also but no do not want to live forever. The finite nature of life makes it valuable.
harryquach··on Ask HN: How old do you think you will live to be?
Shooting for 100. I try and do one or a few things daily to improve my chances (eating clean, exercise, invest in relationships, etc)
harryquach··on Famous Xkcd comic comes full circle with AI bird-identifying binoculars
> According to Swarovski, the development of the AX Visio took approximately five years, involving around 390 "hardware parts."
harryquach··on Ask HN: Who else is working on nothing?
I am in my late 30s and used to worry about this, but I’ve been in the corporate world long enough to know that I can learn whatever I need to learn to secure a decent, paying dev job.

I’ve also realized, far more important than knowing the latest framework or tool, is the ability to work well with people. This is the skill I’ve been working on most, and in my opinion is far more valuable.

harryquach··on Ask HN: What are your predictions for 2024?
> We will see extraordinary acts of public violence in American streets, with responsibility probably shared between citizens, gangs, and the police

Curious if you can expand on this a bit more?

harryquach··on Firefox Sync actually works
I have also been using Firefox since its early days. The only issue I have is trying to share my screen with Google Meet it just does not work. While, not surprising it is a slight annoyance as my company uses Google meet for all of our meetings.
harryquach··on Ask HN: What browser are you using?
At work I use Chrome, because we use Google Meet for meetings which doesn't work well on Firefox. For everything else I use Firefox.
harryquach··on Why would anyone hand code website in 2023?
Because its a fun creative outlet that keeps skills and knowledge fresh.
harryquach··on Noteable.io is shutting down
Its an American company so I would assume January 5th. An important date like this should be more explicit.
harryquach··on Halley's Comet begins its 38-year journey back toward Earth tonight
I was born in April 1986 and will be 75 next time it's visible.
harryquach··on Xkcd's what if? – The Video Series
Was excited to see this, I loved the book.
harryquach··on Ask HN: What's a strong tech opinion you have that few agree with you on?
Is this really an unpopular opinion? I would think most developers would rather develop a solution themselves than rely on a third party library or solution. The problem is speed and cost will never be in favor of a homegrown solution.
harryquach··on How does Lex Fridman pull such important guests?
That's where I first learned of him as well. Since he was first featured I now listen to his podcast.
harryquach··on Ask HN: Where do you live? What's good or bad about it?
San Diego, CA

Pros: Laid back culture, interesting geography, great food of all kinds (especially Mexican), climate

Cons: Expensive and crowded

harryquach··on Nvidia's Cofounder Spent His Fortune and Lives Off-Grid
Lol, because $30 million is not enough. Dude should have disappeared for good. Wealth and anonymity is a super power.
harryquach··on Car dealers say they can't sell EVs, tell Biden to slow their rollout
EVs are expensive, so it's not surprising.
harryquach··on Ask HN: How do you maintain productivity over the holidays?
The most productive thing I do is stay away from my phone and computer. By the time Jan rolls around I am recharged and ready to go.
harryquach··on I know stuff almost no one else does
You sound fun, and very badass
