hankmander··on Firefox address bar
This is the killer feature that keeps me a ff user, now that browsers are so equal in performance.
hankmander··on Replying to comments about our web page design
Beautiful! Finally somebody taking the best of old and new and the result is something different!
hankmander··on Doom the Way It Was Meant to Be Played – v1.1 Multi-Monitor [video]
Yeah, Kali! Best $20 i ever spent. Hard to believe that we used to play Warcraft 2 4vs4 in the late 90s. Somebody always disconnected before the game was over, but still!
hankmander··on Tell HN: Firefox Is an awesome browser right now
The suggestions you get when typing in the address bar are miles better than the chrome counterpart imo. Otherwise I think these browsers are more equal now than ever.
hankmander··on A thread about Metroid Prime (GameCube) using its own memory for visual effects
The best exploration game of it's era. I can still remember christmas morning when I played this 20 years ago. Hooked me right from the title screen with that ominous music.
hankmander··on Guthib
ever done a "gut pull"?
hankmander··on Ask HN: How do you get started as independent consultant or contractor
Try to get your first client before even starting. Call people you know that might need help. Once you actually take the plunge, make sure you tell everybody you know and be visible where it counts, online and offline. Try to build a name. It takes time. A consultant broker or similar could help you find gigs at the start too. Good luck!
hankmander··on Org Real
Super cool! Visualizing org mode is something I don't think we can get enough of. Keep it up!
hankmander··on Emacs' org-mode gets citation support
I use tide-mode for TS. It's great together with LSP!
hankmander··on Ask HN: Employees who exersised stock options: how did it go?
I tried to once when quitting by asking the CEO. He said the company was not interested. If the company you left don't have a future, chances are they're don't want their stock back. Start by asking if they're interested, then give them a high but fair price.
hankmander··on Apple M1 vs. Ryzen 3900X vs. Intel I9 in Software Development
Shouldn't Ryzen 4000 be a better comparison?
hankmander··on Ask HN: How did you get started in tech and/or Linux?
How could you stop there? I would continue reading this story for the rest of the day.
hankmander··on Krita Foundation in Trouble
Donated 10 Euro.

hankmander··on Mailgun Becomes an Independent Company
Why do you want to rotate your DKIM keys?
hankmander··on Let's encrypt Node.js library removed from GitHub
Thanks! Was trying to find info about this.
hankmander··on Are startups really worth it?
Could be. And that's another way to run a startup.
hankmander··on CTO Mentor Network – A virtual peer-to-peer network of CTOs
The form should post over https. Otherwise, great idea! I signed up.
hankmander··on Ask HN: Working in Sweden?
Stockholm native working as a dev for 5+ years here. I'll just add the only two things I see missing from previous posts:

You won't make any friends among the natives. We'll have a beer with you after work but don't expect anything serious. None of my friends have foreign friends. Can't really say why this happens though. We are pretty reserved.

Nightlife is not snobbish as somebody else said. There is the whole range from dive bars to upscale to any kind of nightclub you can think of. It's similar to most bigger western cities. Also, I've noticed the variety and quality of restaurants are outstanding in Stockholm when comparing to most places I've been.

hankmander··on Status.aws.amazon.com unreachable
In Stockholm, sweden it depends on your network. I can access stuff on my phone but not my broadband.
hankmander··on Ask HN: New attempt at mobile markup – keep or bail?
Keep! Now just enlarge the text size so we don't have to zoom on desktop to be able to read.
hankmander··on Screenshots from developers and Unix people taken in 2002
The tiling window manager wasn't invented yet? All of these screenshots look like floating window hell. Thank god we live in the future!
hankmander··on Heroku2scalingo: migrate from Heroku to Scalingo in a minute
How is it with plugins and Scalingo? We use a lot of heroku plugins for mongodb, logging, monitoring etc.
hankmander··on Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Review
I've had it for 10 months. My fingers don't have the accuracy for it. It blows my mind how they could make them tighter than all the other keys. Why not tighten up all other keys too and save even more space...
hankmander··on Lenovo ThinkPad X1 Carbon Review
Don't praise the keyboard, please! I have a 2014 Thinkpad and the weak screen, low capacity battery, the fact that it wakes out of sleep only when it feels like (at other times I have to remove and plug the battery back in to get it started), and the crappy wifi is not even close to being as annoying as grouping the arrow keys with PageUp & PageDown. Take a look at the screenshots, they're even tighter than the other screens.

This is my story every day: "you wanna go left? No you wanna go PageUp!", "You wanna go right? Here's a PageDown for you!" "AAAAAAAARRRRGH"
