hamidnazari··on Show HN: Sensible Bash: An attempt at saner Bash defaults
That's the first thing I disable every time I set up oh-my-zsh on a new box. I think it should not be a default behaviour and should only be enabled if needed.

Also an invite would be appreciated. Email in profile.

And if you share your files (videos) you'd generate some revenue too.
hamidnazari··on Programmer Creates An AI To (Not Quite) Beat NES Games
Good, I'm not the only person who suspected that.

This is from the paper. "I tried again, and it was a huge breakthrough: Mario jumped up to get all the coins, and then almost immediately jumped back down to continue the level! On his fi rst try he beat 1-2 and then immediately jumped in the pit at the beginning of 1-3 just as I was starting to feel suuuuuper smart (Figure 7). On a scale of OMFG to WTFLOL I was like whaaaaaaat?"

hamidnazari··on An Irrational Fear of Files on the Desktop
My desktop is my workbench. With the trash sitting right there in the corner I do my stuff and at the end I keep the artefacts I want and throw the rest away.

It might look messy but it actually keeps reminding me of the things I need to get done.

hamidnazari··on Things I learned by pretending to be blind for a week
By W3C validator do you mean the Markup Validation Service or the Web Accessibility Initiative aka WAI? I think WAI validators were introduced to address the issue you raised in your experiment. Is this true?

Anyhow, I can't agree more, "being W3C valid means jack".

hamidnazari··on Crowd-Sourced Flight Search
Part of me thinks if you made "starting contests" free for customers, you'd get more traction. On the other hand the other part of me thinks that you've already tried this approach, or at least thought about it. So, which part of me is right?

Also two tiny notes about your front page:

1. I, personally, get really pissed when I'm informed about fees of a service in any step of the process other than the first one. So, I'd suggest show the fees somewhere above the fold.

2. This is more of a UX thing. In the "How it works" box, make the titles clickable.

I love the idea. Simple, yet has a lot of potential. Will be start my own contest someday soon.

Rock on.

hamidnazari··on Latitude for Facebook Events
For a second I was really excited about this, until I realised I don't have an iPhone. Not saying as a startup you should shift your focus on other platforms at all, but are you guys working on an Android app at the moment?
hamidnazari··on Plink, a multiplayer HTML5 music game
This is really nice. Well done. It'd be great if you could create your own private games and invite your friends over.
hamidnazari··on VirtualBox is garbage
I've been using VirtualBox for the last 15 months on a daily basis. I've used it on Windows XP, Windows 7, Ubuntu and recently on Mac hosts with Windows XP, Windows 7, and Ubuntu guests. I've never ran into any problems with it. The only thing that doesn't work properly is 3D Acceleration which I think has something to do with my system's graphics card probably.

Two of my friends however lost their guest machines (Windows and Ubuntu) on the Mac version. Hope it doesn't happen on my Mac.

In my opinion, VirtualBox is an amazing piece of software, and calling it "garbage" is harsh and unprofessional.

hamidnazari··on A git plugin for Sublime Text 2
I added checkout command last night. I also prefer to jump on console to do my git commands, but it's really nice that you can use Sublime's quick menu to quickly see the diff or checkout changes you've done. Well done David.
hamidnazari··on Why Facebook's 'Frictionless Sharing' violates HTTP
Nice find, but I don't really think this is violating anything. It's against the HTTP Spec, sure, but you give it permissions to post stuff on your wall for you.

This reminds me of this guy I met a few months ago who was freaking out about the fact that he saw his facebook profile photo and some of his friends' photos on some website and he was all like 'facebook has sold my information to this website'. Took me a while to convince him what was going on. Please let's try not to make non tech savy people freak out by this kind of allegations.

hamidnazari··on The Tricks Investors Use Against Founders
So, what's the best solution here? To pay $39 and buy "Private Equity Secrets Revealed" eBook or to hire a seasoned lawyer? And then, how much are you going to end up paying the lawyer? Are the lawyers going to pull the same tricks on you as well?
hamidnazari··on Getting started with programming
Sometimes I wish I had access to these resources 15 years ago when I was just a little kid and was wondering what a function was and why we want to have them. Yup, I started with Fortran and spaghetti code ;)
hamidnazari··on John Resig uses this
He probably is now looking for a new VoIP service since Microsoft has acquired Skype.
