hamai··on Aaron Swartz's Lawyer: MIT Refused Plea Deal Without Jail Time
>Somebody who is a danger to themselves is legally supposed to be locked up, typically in a psychiatric hospital. Jail would have been the second best place he could have been.

He wasn't exactly the reckless insane type. Some people prefer death than jail, and it seems reasonable if you're able of empathy and really consider what a person goes through in jail. It's a matter personal freedom and it should be respected, otherwise one might be implying death was too good for him.

>under Massachusetts law, the potential sentence that Swartz faced was more than the maximum sentence given to a rapist who has subdued his victim with a threat of physical force, namely 20 years. If a firearm is added to the mix, but if the victim is not subjected to “serious bodily injury,” then the rapist can receive a maximum of 20 + 10, or 30 years.

this "they killed him" discussion makes people argue about another matter, when the main question to discuss is the absurd of the sentence...

The best way to "celebrate his life" is to fix the insane system that intimidated him with a 35 year sentence for the "felony" of downloading PDFs.

The justice system is doing a little more than "pointing fingers": http://www.forbes.com/sites/harveysilverglate/2013/01/03/bla... http://susiebright.blogs.com/susie_brights_journal_/2013/01/...

Which one is this? http://www.forbes.com/sites/harveysilverglate/2013/01/03/bla...

Coincidentally the Whitey's case was by the same Carmen Ortiz, according to news sources.

Indeed there's a lot of emotions involved, but that's because people know Aaron well and what he did wasn't worth 35 year jail intimidation. I think you inverted the meaning of reactionaries, this is not a conservative movement, it's actually about changing the state of justice.

Hate to repeat myself but this information is important:

His "crimes"[1] were not worthy being intimidated with a 35 year old sentence. In any sane society this young man could've done community work(if guilty). A sane society would like to use his skills to teach at schools or something, not throw him in a hell-on-earth prison system were humans are disposable.

The justice system can be a game[2], strong players have it their way, and the seminal work by Aaron's "Demand Progress" was a direct affront to very strong players. As Thomas Jefferson wrote, "the mass of mankind has not been born with saddles on their backs", and tragic events like these are what move people in one direction and make things change. His mental state is secondary to the injustice he suffered.

I've read somewhere she's was preparing for the Whitey's case mentioned in the article.

Sorry to hear that, I was lucky to spent my early years in a awesome Montessori school. The principal was probably responsible for it's success, she was a visionary. When I finally went to an ordinary school it felt like an overpopulated prison. On the bright side, everything was so easy, it was like vacation on a shitty environment.

How about this idea that every potential costumer is either a pirate or a buyer. I think people hold their wallets when they see the price of games. I know I'm holding on Guild Wars 2, and I was one of the early hypers, dreaming with this game. Some years later I just don't think it's worthy, though I did throw more than that at F2P games.

Took a while for me, but things got interesting when I started crafting. From there and I had to go deep mining to find metal, and then I crafted my first diamond tool. Down there I had a few scary moments, only survived because of the metal armor I did. Until now I'm not very fond of building, I just build the necessary. Tried to start some fancy stuff, but lacked a lot of materials, so for now I'm just filling some chests and crafting tools and small stuff.

Here's a good start for crafting: http://minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Crafting
