I also checked out Pluggio, great work. Using it as my twitter client now
Good luck!
Would you mind sending me an email at emil@helpjuice.com? I might have something interesting for you
Thanks!
I would also recommend the ultimate sales machine. Even though I've only read 20 pages since I started reading it one month ago (yes, I run a startup), it's really interesting and helpful.
"Offer me a place at your startup"
I like this better:
"Let me show you how great of a fit I'd be for your team" or something along those lines..
That being said, Matt, it'd be awesome(for you, as marketing material perhaps) if you could showcase how jMockups helped increase sales/conversion rate of a certain website that uses your product.
Keep hustling man!
After that's up, start learning programming. Rails or Django should do fine. Just get a MVP out there and slowly gain some users/customers
3) ..don't rush getting on TC
4) It's like looking for the ideal boyfriend. You'll never find him if YOU keep looking so hard and see everyone as a potential boyfriend. Instead just learn to program a little, build out a simplistic product and they'll come to you.
BTW, I'll be doing a "Learn Rails and build an app in 7 days" course soon, so if you're interested drop me an email at hajrice@gmail.com
I'd go with that one. Build the MVP(my rule of thumb is, if you cant get it out the door and into customers hands within 90days, move on) and charge them. You'll soon realize that your assumptions were right/wrong about that industry.
That being said, I'd always go for B2B rather than B2C.

As rmah said, there is no federal incorporation in the US, it's all done on a state level. I'd suggest, if you're not going to take any investments to register your company in the state you live(to avoid double taxation). Also, if you're going to file for a corporation and still don't plan on raising capital, make sure you file for election of a S-Corp after you've received your certificate of incorporation - that'll also lower the taxes.
Hope the process goes well...I'll be sure to write up a detailed blog post for ya on how I incorporated.
In fact, I've tweeted TWICE about how great their support is. They've seriously walked me through each step with various code samples and have resolved all my issues within a couple of hours....I have only great things to say about them.
@FollowWithoutContactInfo: CHALKBOARDHQ.com SUCKS, I CANT MAKE A PROJECT
^^ We'd reply: Hey, sorry about that, we had [xyz] happen to us. But can you please shoot me an email at emil@chalkboardhq.com.
Either in that tweet or in the email which we respond, we'd thank them also offering something in return for that. It's not necessary but it definitely provides gorilla value to the customer.
