Children learn language by learning phrases and the correspondence of those phrases to things around them or things that happen around them. Rules are learnt later. Learning language is harder when you don't have parents to play the language game with you. Maybe something like aidungeon could be a language learning tool??

I don't think OP is overthinking it at all. Home is not just a question of place of living but a question of identity and belonging. I'm guessing integrating into society in Toronto is difficult for OP so there's weak feeling of belonging in Toronto.
This might not be on purpose. If you look at their article they're studying how to introduce bugs that are hard to detect not ones that are easy to detect.
I think the issue here is they're imputing goodness of a population by total or average happiness or some other tricks to make their happiness calculus work.
Can some correct me if I'm wrong? This paradox comes from trying to determine which population is better depending by taking averages of happiness of individuals in populations. Then they do some weirdness to take special cases into account?
