gutino··on The singularity is close?
I pretty sure there would not be an "Singularity" event. AGI will come in a form of many specific domain AIs integrating togheter step by step. Eventually this AI might be able to improve itself, this might seems to be the moment when it colud get better rapidly, but the base techinology supporting it, the silicon chip, is now in the flat upper step of the S curve of improvement. Till there is another form of technology that can increment some orders of magnitude the processing power, we will not see that AGI that can rival the smartest humans. My humble bet.
gutino··on You don't ever own an electric vehicle
It is not only EVEs also modern ICE too, worst for you, its like that with almost every technology as it gets more advance. Or do you not want to get it better? Do you acknoledge the advantage of an acelerator controled by a ICU?
gutino··on Pangolin desktop environment for Fuchsia and Linux written in Flutter
But thats a web version, you have to test that running outside the browser.
gutino··on Basic income would not reduce people’s willingness to work
There should exist an incentive to do the dirty and hard jobs in the society. If there is a UBI, those jobs should offer a significant economic reward.
gutino··on Video of Tesla FSD almost hitting pedestrian receives DMCA takedown
I do not see how the pedestrian would have benn hit. For me the car was turning very sharply, away from them.
gutino··on The ABS Programing Language
I am wating for the toilet programing language
gutino··on Deno 1.13 Release
Yes we are building an API of serverless services
gutino··on GitHub Copilot as open source code laundering?
But the rate of product/services that machinery will produce will make that even a small tax to corporations producing everything autonomously will be enough to feed and give a quality of life to everyone with an UBI or partial time jobs.

You really want to push for high productivity across all industries, even if that means sacrificing jobs in the short term, because history demonstrated after that, new and more human jobs emerge latter.

gutino··on GitHub Copilot
Developers Human brain are also trained with propietary code bases, then when they quit and go elswere , they program using knowledge learned previously, yet you do not sue them.
gutino··on Tesla Will Have to Ship Its Texas-Built Cars Out of State to Sell Back to Texans
There was a time when a dealer would invest in a building, a deal with car companies and then, car companies would look at what dealers sell more cars, and establish in front of them a competing dealership run by the company itself, which resulted in a better price, bankrupting the independent dealer.

But Tesla always sold their cars directly, there is no risk that they will compete with any third party dealership because they do not make deal with them. That is why that law does not make sense to be applied to Tesla. Its a shame Texas define themselves as one of the most free states and still have this law

gutino··on Tesla Makes More Money Trading Bitcoin Than Selling Cars
Exactly, wall street journal can write shit like this because most people do not read the company's earning report.
gutino··on Why Rust in Android will use the Soong build system, not Cargo
Ninja! used in chrome/v8 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninja_(build_system)
gutino··on The Deno Company
Probably the benchamark you saw was just a iteration of any math calc. In real programs V8 js is orders of magnitude faster than LuaJit

gutino··on FSL: A programming language to make complex finite state machines easy to create
I have always hope for that, RegEx syntax is not human and terrible.
gutino··on The Kilobyte’s Gambit
I beat it! (there has been several years since i played last time)
gutino··on I'm tired of this anti-Wayland horseshit
Sadly the first line of the article started bad, and easily rebuttable, sugesting that if you keep reading, the risky of not learning anything is too high.
gutino··on Analysis: Robinhood protected from lawsuits by user agreement, Congress
You can not overwrite a law by making anybody signup user agreement. This was clearly a stock manipulation played in our faces, no need o prove anything. Only left is to see if the justice exist in EEUU.
gutino··on Why is signal servers using Java and not Erlang
Java with vert.x can do the same Job, no need to go for Arcane tech like Erlang

gutino··on WSL2 corrupting Git repositories and shell history
i have three different/language dev setup, in one of them, i hit a known bug with ulimit. but the two rest worked well. I guess with time it will get fixed, we have to be patient, report try/use it so we can report bugs.
gutino··on 50 years of tax cuts for the rich failed to trickle down, economics study says
The article is fundamentally wrong, the only way whealth would not trickle down is if the rich will bury their money or destroy it. Think about it:

> When the rich buys a Yat, cars, houses, vacation, -> give money to those who produces those goods/services.

> When the rich saves money, typically it does through financial instruments, which we use it to fund our projects, home, buys etc.

> A great portion of the whalth is working capital which are used for all the employes that work with them, producing earning for everyone.

> Many billionaires have stock valued in billions but those stocks if they are sold by them, will get them lower the value.

The concept of ownership does not mean that other can not use it. The real question is what % of the whealth is EXCLUSIVELY used by the rich

gutino··on Tesla set to join S&P 500
xD. Are working for a short seller?
gutino··on LLVM 11.0

gutino··on People loved Nikola but not its warrants
I was interested in Nikola, but after listen its founder Trevor Milton talk, i vomit right onto the desk.

He simple believe he transformed the transport industry and tesla is just following their footsteps. He talk how Nikola has the best truck ever created and its just a render.

Seriously, listen to that guy is disturbing.

gutino··on Rust – How do I create a global, mutable singleton? (2015)
A legit singletons/global states use case are for WebAssembly bindings. So stop trolling you purists.
gutino··on Fast Vue SSR with Rust and QuickJS
If memory is the concern, node V8 Engine has the mode "lite" mode: https://v8.dev/blog/v8-lite

with that perhaps you could spawn node to all threads and do even better in terms performance/memory?

gutino··on A terrible, horrible, no-good, very bad day at Slack
Kubernetes is for scaling, the microservice complexity is about the spaghetti relation graph between them, the mis-consistency effects and so on. Believe me, you better have a infrastructure/development process that justify them.
gutino··on Rocket Lab vehicle lost during second stage burn on 13th mission
- Type of orbit you want, SpaceX rideshare is like a bus trip, it will not get you exactly to your homes door. Rocket lab in this case is like a taxi.

- Timing, perhaps you want to deliver sooner.

gutino··on The neoliberal era is ending. What comes next?
If you look closely you will find the state behind all major economical crisis. In 2008 the State incentive to give subprime loans to people lead to the disaster. If you have a truly liberal economy, without central banks, no poverty or economical problems should arise, especially in the tech era.
