What is it all about?

gsivil··on Poll: How many Facebook accounts do you have?

I have created more than 10 to help a friend on Farmville :) plus my personal one.

gsivil··on Redditor Explains Why Apple Continue Making Frail Power Cables

Does anybody know if the adapters are covered by the warranty?

Does really the HN community find this story interesting? I wish I knew the psychological reasons behind that massive upvoting

gsivil··on LaTeX On Web

Does any one remember what was the state of the experiment last year that most of those threads were active?

gsivil··on Area 51: Was the Roswell UFO Really a Soviet Hoax?

flag-bait?

gsivil··on Ask HN: Interesting papers on weather prediction?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorenz_attractor

Lorenz, E. N. (1963). "Deterministic nonperiodic flow". J. Atmos. Sci. 20 (2): 130–141

One of the papers that are related with weather as a chaotic phenomenon

gsivil··on [dead]

I am sorry to give you the bad news: HN encourages submissions that promote intellectual curiosity, but your post is borderline irrelevant

gsivil··on Linux kernel 2.6.39 released

is there something special about it? Something that can have an impact on the average user?

gsivil··on Not Invented Here and New Programmers

No problem. It was the first time that I noticed a wrong date and I was so confused that I doubled checked my calendar!

gsivil··on ASK PG: PG, do you read HN all day - or limit your time on the site each day?

Please do not use the form "Ask PG:" to ask trivial borderline stupid questions.

gsivil··on [dead]

The same post(but without the modified title that you use) was posted yesterday, received some attention, and it is [dead] now.

gsivil··on Is it me or has Facebook been down for too long?

it is you. Everything seems fine

gsivil··on Poll: What is the size of your laptop/netbook?

At the moment I own a 8.9" Eee PC and I am thinking to get a 13" or 14" laptop. I find it a hard call to make :)

gsivil··on Not Invented Here and New Programmers

"May 10, 2011 at 07:00 PM": in which date zone is this guy living?

gsivil··on Is it bad form to post your own stuff to Hacker News?

I am also fine with somebody that once in a while posts his own blog posts. Show HN is usually used for personal projects.

gsivil··on 52 Years and $750 Million Prove Einstein Was Right

Is there an arXiv paper on that?

gsivil··on [dead]

I am afraid that this is not the best time for review requests especially if you hope to get response from guys in the States. Good luck anyways

gsivil··on Knuth on money and dropping out of graduate school

http://www.tug.org/TUGboat/tb23-3-4/tb75knuth.pdf

page 259.

gsivil··on Ask HN: Can anyone recommend some philosophy reading?

If you do not mind I would like to pick the Apology:

http://www.classicallibrary.org/plato/dialogues/12_apology.h...

It seems that it is the most accessible text. In my opinion it goes beyond the limits of philosophy and it becomes real poetry.

gsivil··on HN Idea: Modal Hacker News

There is a feature request link at the bottom of the page. It would be better if you were submitting that idea there

gsivil··on How Did You Hear About Osama Bin Laden's Death? [POLL]

Talking with a friend on Skype and refreshing carelessly my HN tab

gsivil··on Ryan Dahl (Creator of Node.js) is doing an IAMA on Reddit

It is not your fault. Thanks a lot for posting that

gsivil··on Ryan Dahl (Creator of Node.js) is doing an IAMA on Reddit

Content-free so far. (7:11 PM east coast)

gsivil··on I don't learn anything on HN anymore, bring back the upvote count

is there an explanation for that?

gsivil··on Startups Open Sourced, 1 Week Later: $10,000+ in Revenue

This was exactly my thought, but Andy was handwriting his letters and this maybe happened 50 years ago(in the mythical world). I would always value somebody that is persistent but only if he was demonstrating his persistence in a non-trivial way.

How come this post is not in the first page after 8 hours while the following post for example still is?

This topic is discussed here every single bubbly day

Hairstyling for teenagers

gsivil··on Ask HN: Where is the next Xerox PARC?

Along the same lines people in physics ask all the time: where is the next Bell Labs?

gsivil··on Ask HN: Where is the next Xerox PARC?

Can you give us some statistics on that?
