Sure, but legally allowed and capable and motivated to do so are very different things. Most people I know don’t even change the preset wifi password of their router.
Here in germany you often get a Fritz Box from your internet provider (preconfigured with access data). So for 99% of users, switching to another router is not an option because thats simply the device that came with their internet access. But apart from this issue those are really nice and capable devices.
It gave me weird animal puns as suggestions, without any reference to animals in my query. Is there maybe some mixup in the backend, reuse of gpt conversations?
Also FurryFriendsHub.com it’s apparently available if anyone is interested! ;)
Yes in that context it's pretty clear, but if you encounter the word "chat" in any french text, wouldn't you normally assume that it means the animal?
I have a similar example in german: The word "Fee" in german means "fairy" and when we used it to promote a product in the past, someone who came from a financial background read it as the english "fee" and was pretty confused about that sentence :)
For everyone not speaking french: "le chat" in french translates to "the cat".
So I guess that's a play on words that works given the context and probably the mostly not native french audience.
It was probably not a wise choise to give the model itself and the product the same name: "Gemini Advanced is using Gemini Ultra".
Also: "The free version ... is Gemini Pro" - is not what you usually see out there.
„However, LLMs appear to be quite good at knowing what they do and don’t know“
Really? I think LLMs have not the slightest idea what they know and you have to go through great lengths to stop them from making stuff up.
Just judging from the example, fixpdfs seems targeted at unprofessional scans with a smartphone camera. A stand alone scanner should produce good enough results. But maybe your advice still works if you replace scanner companies with something else?
There are real photographers enforcing their copyright, but there are also trolls. The trolls are pushing a few Fotos they made to Wikipedia and “free Foto”-sites with missing terms. Then they search for people who stole their images and extract money. Sure the people who used the images are in the wrong legally, but the trolls actually wanted their images to be stolen. Also, for the trolls, this is the only kind of revenue they get. Those images would never be legally bought or licensed anyway
For all the MacOS dual pane file-manager fans: I tried them all and only recently discovered Marta (https://marta.sh/) which is now my favourite file manager!
Twitter is not a neologism, but a word in the english dictionary: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/twitter ("to utter successive chirping noises"). As is tweet: https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/tweet ("a chirping note").
My knowledge of trademark law is limited, but I guess if someone would like to sell "Twitter"-sausages, they would have to apply for that trademark in the respective category and it could be anyone, as the-company-formerly-known-as-twitter propably doesn't have the trademark for food?
Looking for a simple SmartWatch and then going for a big Garmin?
I think there are other alternatives that are way simpler. The Withings watches for example.
He describes a hit and run where the driver took of when he approached. Then I saw a picture of him with a homemade helmet thing with two antennas sticking out (second in the slideshow). And I think I can think of at least one reason that driver slammed it in reverse.
I also love mechanical watches and own a handful. But I also love the convenience to pay with my apple watch. The way I solved it: I wear my apple watch on the right arm and a "real" watch on the left.
Thank you for the explanation, that actually makes sense. But I still think that serving a 429 is some kind of backwards old-school sysop kind of response. "It's the right HTTP-Code! hohoho!". It's obviously running nginx and serving a static copy of that url or setting up caching would take the same amount of time as serving the 429. It's 2023, it's possible to serve some thousand requests to static content on pretty much everything now.
I just saw a video from James May yesterday about some electric hypercar where he comes to the conclusion that the battery is best placed where the engine would be in a mid-engine car. Because so the mass is at the center of gravity.
I 100% agree with you that greater intimacy leads to greater risk of being harmed.
The thing I don't agree with is "human intimacy cannot occur without substantial mutual harm". That sounds a bit too absolute to be true and is also not my personal experience. But it might be just the way philosophers talk, or maybe "harm" has another definition here and includes things like "changing the partner" that one would not define as "harm" in another context?
