grimgrin··on The Joy of Playing Grandia, on Sega Saturn
in that vein, https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/grandia-hd-collec...
grimgrin··on Paged Out
if you're asking "how do i easily buy prints", that's under the prints link atop, and you'll ultimately end up at lulu

https://pagedout.institute/?page=prints.php

https://www.lulu.com/search?contributor=Paged+Out%21+Institu...

I discovered it easily on desktop, idk about mobile

grimgrin··on Paged Out
to settle a convo w/ a friend, how did y'all go about blasting emails inviting writing submissions? they suspect automated (naturally), i suspected possibly automated + "have had blogs hit hn front page", idk

edit: oh, right, this isn't a Show HN

grimgrin··on Why xor eax, eax?
I'd like to learn about the earliest pronunciations of these instructions. Only because watching a video earlier, I heard "MOV" pronounced "MAUV" not "MOVE"

Not sure exactly how I could dig up pronunciations, except finding the oldest recordings

grimgrin··on We remain alive also in a dead internet
at least in your personal life, you could tell those friends to please knock it off
grimgrin··on Migrating the main Zig repository from GitHub to Codeberg
so far we know of 1 branch, in 1 thread, on the entire internet, "talking about it instead"
grimgrin··on We remain alive also in a dead internet
how many friendships do i suppose are replacing actual interaction with their log informed llms? you could be the first i suppose
grimgrin··on Ask HN: Can we talk about bot texts in 2025?
thanks for the links, +1, and naturally good advice in general

personally I will engage when I'm curious about the angle. today's lesson is you can send a jpg that entirely disrupts/ends the script. they called me a slur and ended there, almost making you doubt the bot at all. interesting, that's why i can't help myself at times

grimgrin··on You already have a Git server
agreed, you'd need a second name anyway. and probably "origin" and "upstream" is nicer than "github" and "my-fork" because.. the convention seems like it should apply to all the other git hosts too: codeberg, sourcehut, tfs, etc
grimgrin··on Show HN: MacOS Live Screensaver – A screensaver that plays live video streams
nothing because that is a screen saver. but yeah you're right, it's probably mostly people who just want to see a visualization? i'd never argue screensavers are a logical choice lol
grimgrin··on Show HN: MacOS Live Screensaver – A screensaver that plays live video streams
it's a combination of people seeking aesthetic (imo), and naturally, preventing an oled, plasma, or crt from burn-in
grimgrin··on Show HN: MacOS Live Screensaver – A screensaver that plays live video streams
bring your own http live stream
grimgrin··on Show HN: MacOS Live Screensaver – A screensaver that plays live video streams
this is kinda inline with what you're asking i think?

https://simonwillison.net/2025/Oct/7/vibe-engineering/

for me it's working on a thing, and then linting, type checking, running tests. and even then thoughtfulness still required

grimgrin··on Show HN: MacOS Live Screensaver – A screensaver that plays live video streams
this is cool. i love shit like this

idk if any of y'all ever used https://satelliteeyes.tomtaylor.co.uk/ but I was a big fan. such that i now have my own process of keeping my wallpaper updated w/ various city webcams. throw in some noise/desaturation and you've got an _aesthetic_

anyway, this is about a screensaver not a wallpaper and i think there is cool potential with video streams as screensavers

grimgrin··on Scripts I wrote that I use all the time
this is how it works for you

as a person who loves their computer, my ~/bin is full. i definitely (not that you said this) do not think "everything i do has to be possible on every computer i am ever shelled into"

being a person on a computer for decades, i have tuned how i want to do things that are incredibly common for me

though perhaps you're referring to work and not hobby/life

grimgrin··on Bluesky Alt Text Stream
An optional filter, I can see it being interesting observing frequency of alt relative to no-alt.

I do think it'd be nice if it didn't scroll the log automatically, IF the user has scrolled at all (looking at backlog). A few ways to go about that

grimgrin··on Mesh: I tried Htmx, then ditched it
yeah my bad i dont know the rules or what i'm talking about

but looking at your blog post i just thought "oh, they're showing us mesh", probably you're correct here though

grimgrin··on Mesh: I tried Htmx, then ditched it
alex, this is a "Show HN" really, just fyi
grimgrin··on Open Railway Map
Since google maps doesn't have a layer to simply show all the tracks (does it?), I landed on this:

https://openrailwaymap.org/

grimgrin··on Want to piss off your IT department? Are the links not malicious looking enough?
you may or may not add a condition for emails with X-PHISH in its headers
grimgrin··on Slack has raised our charges by $195k per year
can you please link to this public announcement
grimgrin··on Show HN: A roguelike game that runs inside Notepad++
this is the kinda github account I follow, peep their other work
grimgrin··on Show HN: A zoomable, searchable archive of BYTE magazine
a nice feature would be similar to what searching google books does. the results highlight in yellow (though I'd prefer a way to clear highlighting after seeing where I'm supposed to stare)

I searched for "MUDs" and found a few results, clicked one, but it didn't appear the centered page was the one I was looking for

this is a wonderful idea though, and I'm happy you made it!

edit: perhaps also a nice feature is putting the search query in the URL, so I can link folks

grimgrin··on We put a coding agent in a while loop
found a copy that isn't a scanned paper:

grimgrin··on Show HN: I was curious about spherical helix, ended up making this visualization
the dithering is lovely and the OP better not touch it. they can give you a toggle though :P
grimgrin··on Pfeilstorch
A little further down it said this:

> Besides migration, some theories of the time held that they turned into other kinds of birds, mice, or hibernated underwater during the winter, and such theories were even propagated by zoologists of the time.

grimgrin··on Daniel Linssen's Typing Challenge
Found this perusing my RSS reader, thanks wfgames.net

Enjoy if this is your jam

grimgrin··on Occult books digitized and put online by Amsterdam’s Ritman Library
aside, my kindle is named: "Octarine Fairy" -- hardly fitting, except it's a book and I adore discworld

grimgrin··on Show HN: I built a free alternative to Adobe Acrobat PDF viewer
