gregmuender··on I've Had My Startup(s) on Product Hunt 3 Times. Here's Some Data
You're right! Hence why I disclosed that at the end :)
gregmuender··on I've Had My Startup(s) on Product Hunt 3 Times. Here's Some Data
I think it's an interesting to note that site visitors are seemingly understanding our product's value and utility better than before. I see it as 1 out of 21 people "got it" enough to win their vote, and by the 3rd go, 1 out of 7 people "got it" :)
gregmuender··on I've Had My Startup(s) on Product Hunt 3 Times. Here's Some Data
That's all the data I could think of (admittedly not a lot), but happy to dive in further if you guys and gals have suggestions!

Had to make some changes, so I pulled the link. New one is coming soon!
gregmuender··on Best Way to Parse Twitter Search to Slack Channel?
looks like mention.com will be a good first start.
gregmuender··on Ask HN: Any Tools to Verify an Email Address?
Thanks guys!
gregmuender··on Hacks for Hiring on Elance and Odesk
Holy cow, this was seriously comprehensive. Great job OP
gregmuender··on Show HN: We made kind of a Yelp meets ProductHunt
We think their is a little bit of Kickstarter vibe in here, too. Users are indicating what they want i.e. the location requests. Just like people back a project on Kickstarter, users can essentially back on a product on Whttl by requesting that they launch in their city.
gregmuender··on Introducing Roost: The Airbnb for Self Storage
Hey Paul,

Very valid points. I think like many other startups that blazed a path before them, they'll be able to figure it out though :)

Nice chart! Yes, my sample size was rather small, so it's difficult to make absolute conclusions, but it was interesting to see a definitive correlation between post length and upvotes!
gregmuender··on Hacking Hacker News
Yes, of course! Looks like we got 13 upvotes today, which is, generally speaking, pretty high.

The point here was that all else being (nearly) equal, sometimes posts take off, while others don't. Although you can optimize, at the end of the day, it can be often be a game of chance!
gregmuender··on What's Your Startup Score? See how “in the know” you are
Thank you for the feedback! We made a change so you no longer have to log in through Facebook to see your score. It's a fine line to balance between building growth elements and being too aggressive, we appreciate your understanding as we fine tune!
gregmuender··on Ask HN: How do I send an email to 35 contacts on gmail (that doesnt bcc)
Nice proactive job on improving product! :) Can we chat via email? greg [[at]] whttl doterus commerus
gregmuender··on Here's ALLLLL the signup credits for new startups in one list. $$$
Thanks for sharing! 2 different posts (Medium + Native Blog), but yes, we like to abide to the rules. :)
gregmuender··on Ask HN: Should I keep building my site with all the funny reviews from Amazon?
Ya, it seems analogous to TrustYou. In doing further research, it looks like Amazon is granted a right to use the copy as they wish, which could be to let affiliates, resellers, and any other people market the product, IMHO. And isn't driving users to a website to laugh at a review a form of marketing?
gregmuender··on Ask HN: Should I keep building my site with all the funny reviews from Amazon?
Yes, interesting point. I skimmed through this: http://www.writersweekly.com/print/the_latest_from_angelahoy...
gregmuender··on Ask HN: Should I keep building my site with all the funny reviews from Amazon?
I'm pulling inspiration from products like "TextsFromLastnight", "Damnyouautocorrect", and even Genious.com (formerly rapgenious.com). Imagine a complete repository of all funny reviews. People could even upvote/downvote, or submit a review with 1 click (if they have a browser extension.)
gregmuender··on Show HN: I Need [Insert Here] and I'll Pay [Dollar Amount]
We are essentially a middle man, and I don't want to try to hide that. The value we are providing is removing the headache from selecting the right contractor. So, for PROJECT X, you may be able to look really hard on Odesk and get it done for $200. Maybe you pay $350 or $300 with us...but all you had to do was submit it and wait for the results. No selecting contractors, filtering. AND, I think it's important that we assume that "not satisfied" risk. It's part of why people may pay a premium.
gregmuender··on Show HN: I Need [Insert Here] and I'll Pay [Dollar Amount]
Good point on the target market...I think I'm looking for the people that either want the convenience and ease (and perhaps are even willing to pay more for that), or for those that are looking for your pretty basic stuff. I feel like, if you are a ....say, dog walker, a $15 logo will suffice. Same with the website, nothing is necessarily wrong with a template, per se, so long as it does the basics. In the end, it's about empowering people with their budget. If a user doesn't want a WP theme, perhaps they can say "I want a custom website (no WP theme) with 10 pages for $1,500.

What about Google Wallet? Venmo? Paypal? Square Cash? Are they solving that problem at all?
