greenrice··on Recruitment Process for a Google Site Reliability Engineer
You're kidding yourself if you think Google is "just a well known consumer brand"...
greenrice··on Goldman Sachs Bitcoin analysis
Most of the criticisms by Eric Posner explain reasons why Bitcoin can't replace fiat currency. I don't think the goal is to replace fiat; rather Bitcoin would be a great supplement, as it accomplishes different purposes.
greenrice··on Silicon Valley’s Youth Problem
Hit the nail on the head. There is a plethora of important and difficult problems to solve, and the millenial generation has to trudge through the pile of shit that's been left accumulating for the past several decades. greenrice··on From disgruntled developer, to founder, to burnout
There seems to be a certain aspect of the night owl that is present in many programmers, I for one am far more productive in the late-afternoon and evening than I am in the morning. Setting a morning-to-evening schedule isn't going to work for a lot of us.
greenrice··on How to remain secure against NSA surveillance
Why use symmetric cryptography over public-key? I thought RSA was theoretically secure as long as factoring sufficiently large prime numbers is impossible.
greenrice··on What Killed Turntable.fm?
Nothing "killed" Turntable.fm, it's still going strong and has valuable features that Pandora and Spotify can't supply, such as social involvement and even music artists/producers themselves play live sets on the site.
greenrice··on Aerial photography ban proposed for all but government
How about just more efficient government with better representation of the populance?
greenrice··on Covering the whole country with Google Fiber could cost $140 billion
Rome wasn't built in a day...
