Both are good, but I've always leaned towards Libreboot just cause I think ThinkPads from 2005-2008 look amazing and it's fun to know that there is no proprietary software on my computer.
>fifteen fewer dollars in your pocket
Definitely gave me a chuckle
git clone <git-repository>; make; make update-assets
It's literally three commands, assuming you have all the dependencies like I did, all of which is written clearly on the project page. Even if you don't have the dependencies, it's trivial to install them. I don't understand what's so terrible about it.I was wondering, is there any interest in implementing a kind of single/two player mode? Something where, for example, you can operate the weapons systems while being able to do simple navigation durring a battle (essentially evasive maneuvers). I can see something like this being handy with limited players. Maybe this is already feature that I haven't discovered yet.
Either way, it's really cool and I've been having fun with it!
If you're upset by the thought of a third party entity looking at your stuff then stop using products by these companies. Use FOSS for your computer programs and OS's. Use a phone OS like graphene, /e/, or something else privacy oriented.
The only way to stop being a commodity is by sacrificing convenience and the only way to gain that convenience back is to build your own tools. Talk to the old timers here that have been using minimal OS's and building custom scripts for the past 20 years. They'll tell you that you get a level of speed, efficiency and customizability you can't get with name brand OS's.
The learning curve is worth it considering you build knowledge and skills not a lot of people today have. Not to mention you gain technological independence, which is worth its weight in gold.
Though to be fair, whenever If I think I might get into trouble for not providing my real name I just use my initials.
I understand why everyone doesn't exclusively use console desktops, but it makes me a little sad to see so few people that do.
I even went through the syllabus of the most closely related of their past lectures (a quick history of ancient mathematics and mathematical ideas) and I quickly realized that I don't even know which book to read to try find anything related to Pythagoras' existence.
Is there a specific piece of text I could read that would verify your claim?
>Emacs seems to be in the same position as LaTeX: Outdated paradigms that would probably need an entire redesign from the ground up to start "making sense" in the modern world.
I was really responding to this. You're right though: there are aspects of Emacs that are dated, the UI isn't very spiffy, and I've never dealt with elisp before so I'll take your--and everyone else's--word for that. I was just suggesting that it gets the job done for a lot of people and maybe, as a result, shouldn't be classified as outdated.
I could even argue that since Emacs hasn't been phased out (and still has a decent user base) that it does something that other text editors don't (or can't) do.

I think what they meant was that it's an entirely text based program. Perhaps they are conflating UNIX with CLI.
>It's insanely hard to avoid that main stream media content
It's very easy. I modify my hosts file with lists such as Steven Blacks [1] or the EnergizedProtection host lists [2] which are both continuously updated files containing know ad server URL's and whatnot.I can honestly say that I haven't seen an ad in years, let alone any form of divisive content. But I also might just not visit many websites where they show that stuff. The best solution to that is to avoid those sites if possible.
I've seen lots of profiles made around 2012 as well that post regularly but only have a tenth the amount of points as this one has.
Also, not sure why you're so quick to defend them. Bots are very common now a days. Its not unreasonable to assume most of the profiles that produce massive amounts of content on most social media platforms are bots.
Plus, considering the complexity of the hardware, it would look amazing with a transparent case. It'd be almost like swiss watch.
Also, for many women, its very hard to juggle motherhood and a career----if they chose to go that route.
There is also a choice now. Women can use a plethora of contraceptives that weren't as common in my parent generation.
Honestly, this whole "antinatalism" thing is all smoke and no fire.
>When the millenial zeitgeist has drifted in a direction where this is a common opinion, I take it to indicate that our socialization has taught some of us that humans have little inherent moral worth as individuals, the values of a family are subservient to the values of globalism, and all is nihilistic considering that we have a poor shot at solving the worst of our problems.
Uhhhh, What?
I've been trying to transition to reading more literature for entertainment just because the variety of stories are a lot more diverse and interesting.
