gradschoolfail··on The rise of the U.S., the rise of China
Hmm, no pro-logicians interested yet? Is it because logic is such a gradual domain.. would it move you beyond knowing just the name* to note that i’ve been involved with … experiments?? (Im a fan of <<Experimental Mathematics>> tho this is 2 steps removed, shall we call it “Experimental Logic”?) To whether its common or uncommon, depends on how deep you want to look, i guess!

*Check out DP-G and TSC’s 2020 update, where their Ham doesnt seem so contrived, and in fact, closer to, let’s say, the-country-that-shall-not-be-renamed. Are the chinese paying attention??!! https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=42039941

Citation on the tension? I suspect the tension isn’t between elite-driven and anarchism*. No time to hunt for a item i saw a while back here (its “everywhere”) observing that you cant see any of the supposedly cataclysmic events of the XX (& XIX?) on the emissions chart.. perhaps we should explore (cue tony blair’s victory song) the tension between inflation and deflation instead?

[maybe Einstein saw Goedel as Spinoza reincarnate, pity he hadnt heard about MPB (or even RPF/AG]

PS hadnt seen the PC article, thanks! The content is very familiar.. however.

(Seems to me everyone we cited above were fully or almost fully vulpine? Bringing us back to the Wielandt convo..)

This reminds me to check whether the founders of Zen were warriors before they were monks..

“Cardboard”: looked in vain for the uncountable singular of “boxes” (/“categories”)

Also: “cardboard” as a metaphor for the inevitable reduction in dimensions (here, of “personalities”)

Banach: if you mean the eponymous space, yes, are you returning to the county in “quantum-gravity”? Or maybe you refer to the theorem with Tarski?

Re:cruelty/VPS/offering struggle

Not sure if the sage is allowed cruelty(=irreversibilty?<= deluging), more sure that the sage is forbidden from enjoying it (or even signalling its enjoyment, cf Not-Hillel)

My current take is that culture is just path-dependent[0] interpretations of pretty much the same situation [1]

[0]large mean time between scattering events, e.g. number and make-up of parties dont change very much since the last time the current system became barely-functional (we take on socio-technical debt before we have actual social tech??) as it is, 1789 was a bit too long ago for founder-mode, may halloween continue to console us!

[1]more tk. it seems mostly everyone is tripartite. Tripartism, has its own en.wikipage! But more research on YYA’s taxonomy is required of me.

gradschoolfail··on Optimizers need a rethink
Pardon my ongoing lack of attention— pray tell what number base?
gradschoolfail··on It might be possible to detect gravitons after all
Haha i remember! friends got caught up in that! (Wasnt it 3-sigma tho?)

Theorists would also love for experimentalists to be wrong, but the most efficient way to do it would be by inventing new maths… [sad but still fun]

Amen. Hopefully this wont stop me from trying to classify PG as lion or fox or mongoose .. (i cant remember what it was anyways… fox with lion skin?)

2 things (in addition to your above VPS) that i urgently need to pay attention to [im procrastinating! Thanks to lizard brain survivalism? Was deluged by the not-meh HN graviton thread; i dont even know if any logician (what about Krivine/Koerner, you think?) knows the name of the county— the country* is “quantum gravity”.]:

  - What did “the moral of equivalent of war” mean [WJ, but also JEC,J]. is it related to VPS

  - Instinctive reverence is it nonsense, or something to practise over a lifetime?
*of which nothing is known but the name, pace PC

Ps: went looking here on HN histories also for the ideological arrows (via Marion Milner) between Montaigne & Montesquieu*. similar to Borodin & Linebarger iyho? Alert me to de Maistre if necessary

*direct ideological ancestor of Jane Jacobs?

gradschoolfail··on It might be possible to detect gravitons after all
If you’re young (or if you’re old but your mind remains flexible) i urge you to think hard about this problem.. i do and i will! my mind is already quite inflexible so i’m not going say anything definite about this question out of fear of saying something dumb/misleading. Your q hides monsters ready to snipe any serious mind of the planet!

That said, an easier question to ponder (and many have tried) might be:

Do photons self-interact? With each other? In free space?
After thinking thru this question yourself, you might be more prepared to consider gravitons (=“spin-2 massless bosons”) ditto for me!

REDIT(s)

I ought to get overly emotional (in a bittersweet way) about all this, and i almost did, but Teddy reminded me to stay ataraxic (i.e. keeping his role in formulating key management policies purely in the cortex )

thank you for that blogpost about MPB (its one small step for fuzzablekind!)

[as well as the nuclei hint, more tk]

gradschoolfail··on Axiomatics: Mathematical thought and high modernism
[Righhht, maybe you can excite me even more by relating this to quantales?? Or maybe expand on fns vs distributions a bit more?]

L: quantal (quasiparticles)

gradschoolfail··on It might be possible to detect gravitons after all
This needs to be emphasized more, by the TFA too — most (theoretical) physicists think that detecting gravitons is an engineering exercise that has no implications* for quantum gravity (as understood by the public)

>The model of non-self-interacting gravity is a particle we call a "graviton,"

This needs to be emphasized even more, because it has

>when the dx represents a slight change in a function

Hmmm, so its closer to what you intended to mean when you said “distributions are prefunctions?

By some economic measures (e.g. median income corrected PPP) NY state is also very close to Switzerland.

If you dont find his humor grating (I do, but YMMV — its hard to hit the sweet spot as Mr. Levine does)

Scott Aaronson might be the ML of quantum computing.

How far is your idea of refinement from some def of “derivative”?

Thanks! Much to mull over! Concede that im most sympathetic to leonine foxes (post-philodemus-patch though?). “Effective” leaders, in my book, have to give the people (先-後-不) what they want emotionally, and yet go against their will rather openly (risking assasination)

Or maybe thats vulpine lions in your book?
