The CIA (Central Intelligence Agency, not to be confused with the Church of England) just got rebranded. Looks like a VC-backed startup ready to IPO. https://cia.gov

Not sure why this is news but didn’t read article yet. I’m sure Q4 was probably pretty crazy for Alibaba and not surprised if he hasn’t been doing public appearances to focus more.

I’ve always pronounced it gyro until I moved to SF and now everyone seems to look at me crazy and insist it’s “gyro”, so not 100% sure still.

Interesting. Wonder if this has ever happened already.

Another example of big tech “solving” an obvious problem of how to store vaccination proof. I hope this saves lives Or at least makes it easier for people who have been vaccinated to get back to work.

More than 56 million developers around the world build and work together on GitHub.

Probably an overestimate as some people have multiple accounts or don’t use GitHub anymore.

Crazy impressive. A little bit misleading though.

Yeah good point. I guess you could also get distracted. Eating dinner but I will think it over more.

Someone should start a company that does multiple things so that they don't have to settle. I find that it's a huge industry and issue.

Oh okay. That makes more sense. Still a bit weird that it's out of a sense of self preservation instead of caring that it was potentially immoral in the first place.

Sorry, missed that somehow. Still seems oddly suspicious that it coincides with Coinbase's IPO.

Wow. Does Coinbase plan to launch their coin and feel threatened? Seems like a anti-competitive move if so and weird timing with the IPO.

Oh nevermind I did it wrong

Doesn't look like it. No results for the following:

Agreed with Dalio on this one. "Commerce is only good until it's bad."

Add something about loading dynamic info. E.g. if you make a site with accounts and someone's name is "SDJDJKLJKJKL NNNXNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN" then when they login you can say something like:

"Welcome back SDJDJKLJKJKL NNNXNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN"

Me too. You can even go faster by sealing the food with some insulator (e.g. plastic or tinfoil) to make it retain heat and cook faster in the microwave.

I don’t eat sugar anymore but I noticed that after dropping soda and sweets I still eat a lot sugar. It’s in everything. Even tomato sauce and stuff that you’d think is healthy. I’m not sure it’s even possible to have a full diet without any sugar at all. You can do sugar-free waffles but then it’s for nothing if they’re doused in syrup (very sugary)

Do we know why? Terrifying if true.

I’ve been thinking about this and following it for quite a while and even spoke to a friend in the kinetic scavenging detection industry. I’m 99% sure it’s either: 1 - A prank 2 - Not a prank (joke) and it’s either A: Actually important B: Inconsequential

Wow, I had heard the Three Body Problem is a great book. This is very sad news.

Perhaps we shouldn’t be socially distancing and instead should be distancing socially. The social proof and network effects are quite powerful.

This doesn’t make sense. If someone makes $10 an hour, then they would be better off if they made $20 an hour. That’s because $20 > (GREATER THAN) $10. However if it was only $5 (five), then they wouldn’t want to work for $5 an hour because $5 < (LESS THAN) $10.

You can check it with your calculator if you’re skeptical.

$20-$10 = + number so $20 is grater

$5 - $10 = - number so $5 is less

The one thing these articles miss is that it isn't like Elon Musk himself is building the rockets. I'm not even sure that would be possible. Yes he is a smart guy, but that doesn't mean that he didn't do a lot of the work involved like engineering.

They all say I need an account to view them, phishing? Yikes!

Haven’t read anything about this yet but based on what I’ve seen I’m not that concerned.

It’s like getting mad at (insert food) but then not knowing whether it’s a bad food.

Oh it’s just a random tablet? Do you know what software (code) it uses? I always thought it was IOS which is the same as IPADs I think

Disappointing for the thousands of engineers who spent their lives building that “equipment” and now don’t get to earn rent. Wonder if this will damage the motivation for the next generation of talented engineers.

I didn’t read the article but it seems like it’d be helpful if we modified the laws on copyright. Some subreddits do a great job ensuring two people can’t submit the same news article.

Tesla should have made the earpods. Would’ve made a lot of money. Sad that talent is being wasted.
