The ratio of "Wear a mask" messages to "maintain six feet apart" messages must be at least 100 to 1, if not more. Masks have been held out as magical items that give absolute immunity to covid. Is it any wonder that social distancing isn't very effective when it is downplayed in importance compared to mask wearing?
Perhaps we shouldn’t be socially distancing and instead should be distancing socially. The social proof and network effects are quite powerful.
