glbrew··on Saudi Aramco Is World’s Most Profitable Company, Far Exceeding Apple
If those are rules we are playing by I would say the US Mint is the most profitable company.
glbrew··on Amazon cargo plane crashes in Texas
I don't see what the problem is with people speculating. He didn't claim to know what happened. He made clear he was uncertain what happened and offered a possible explanation without alleging to have some ability to know the truth.
glbrew··on Airbus will stop building the A380 in 2021
I highly doubt there will be such an abundance of oil in 20 years that the billions of people you are referring to will be shooting through the stratosphere.
glbrew··on The Next Wave of ‘Unicorn’ Startups
Yeah I'd say the majority of people here know what a unicorn is.
glbrew··on El Chapo Trial: Why His I.T. Guy Had a Nervous Breakdown
It made a huge comeback and is apparently very effective when used properly.
glbrew··on Apple makes billions from Google Search each year
I agree in general but if 1.4 billion devices simultaneously started using duckduckgo their servers would melt through the mantle and merge with the inner core.
glbrew··on The Brain’s “Inner GPS” Creates Conceptual Spaces in the Mind
I remember reading something about drug users or trauma patients seeing the same geometric patterns or repetitions and researchers trying to figure out why...
glbrew··on Greenland’s Melting Ice Nears a ‘Tipping Point’
Well it is complicated and there are no easy solutions regarding the terminology and psychology. The scientific community and press need to indicate urgency without causing despair/surrender.
glbrew··on Google is buying Fossil’s smartwatch tech for $40M
Fossil out-teched Google?
glbrew··on The Last Secrets of Skull and Bones (1977)
I don't think a homogeneous collection of "global research universities" is an ideal outcome and would even be ironic. Universities should reflect their independent and unique cultures and histories. Female universities (Wellesley), Black southern universities, "elite" universities (ivies), liberal arts universities, engineering universities, online universities... are all part of a patchwork of free and independent thought. All should be welcome.
glbrew··on Wall Street Rule for the #MeToo Era: Avoid Women at All Cost
Which is why I specifically said I wasn't defending a specific country's gender policies. And yeah, here in America where we have an economic system that guarantees mass extinction of life, destruction of the biosphere, mass exploitation of humans you can't see in your daily life. Clearly your culture has it all figured out!
glbrew··on Wall Street Rule for the #MeToo Era: Avoid Women at All Cost
I'm not defending their gender policies per se but I am increasingly jealous of societies that actually have a culture other than neoliberalism. Every society has its faults but I'm seriously wondering if ours may be much greater than those we love to attack (like the middle east). At least they have large cohesive families they live close to, share meals with, enjoy traditions with. It seems like most Americans don't even have that anymore. But at least women are "free" to sell junk CDOs to middle America. Thank God!
glbrew··on New Parents Complain Amazon Baby-Registry Ads Are Deceptive
Jesus our west coast techno saviors are turning on us.
glbrew··on Suicide increasing among American workers
On that note also the role of non psychopathic /sociopathic women driving men to suicide non-purposefully which I have seen too.
glbrew··on Chinese Tokamak reaches over 100M degrees
In his defense he was commenting on the difference between Kelvin and KeV.
glbrew··on At Doomed Flight’s Helm, Pilots May Have Been Overwhelmed in Seconds
I have an ABS button, I believe.
glbrew··on His Body Was Behind the Wheel for a Week Before It Was Discovered
Upwards of 2% of people kill themselves officially, so approximately 500 not accounting for demographics. What a socialite.
glbrew··on The Big Hack: How China Used a Tiny Chip to Infiltrate Amazon and Apple
Yup. And that single well placed mole could have 100 or 1,000 security experts working on their behalf. It is not as though the mole would have to design the hack, only pass necessary documents to a military grade hacking group then implement their modifications.
glbrew··on The Big Hack: How China Used a Tiny Chip to Infiltrate Amazon and Apple
I think it is a win-win for Apple and Amazon to spin it this way. They get to deny that they were compromised, and if that gets disproved they can easily say they were cooperating with national security operations and get away without any damage.
glbrew··on 'We're moving to higher ground': America's era of climate mass migration is here
IPCC estimates are always highly conservative and often do not account for positive feedback mechanisms. I believe the most recent report accounted for 0 feedback. The sea level is not constant around the world. An average increase of .6m would likely be about 1m in the Northeast including Boston, NYC, and DC and only about .3m on the pacific coast.

Edit: And the .6m (if that is correct) is just the baseline. Even if that is the level 364 days a year, one storm surge on one day with all that additional volume can put the entire city out of business.

glbrew··on The 20-Hour Flight Is Coming, and It May Have a Gym and Bunks
What about a psychologist?
glbrew··on Bleak New Estimates in Drug Epidemic: A Record 72,000 Overdose Deaths in 2017
It really is huge. It is so high experts describe it as a "demographic change," It is literally changing the demographics and population distribution of the US.
glbrew··on Taking Tesla Private
I highly doubt it. For starters his wealth isn't liquid enough. He would need to give up shareholder control of Amazon or take on huge debt with his control of Amazon as collateral.
glbrew··on Taking Tesla Private
I would like to make a prediction: the Saudi Royal Family is the funding source. There are very few banks that could back this financially, and they have all said they are not behind it. The only source of this much money and secrecy is the House of Saud. They apparently also snapped up to 5% of public shares, and have expressed lots of interest in investing in the "new" economy.
glbrew··on Elon Musk emails employees about 'extensive and damaging sabotage' by employee
I think in the case of Tesla and their recent production failures they want to publicize it to explain shortages and help defend their stock.
glbrew··on Bitcoin’s Price Was Artificially Inflated Last Year, Researchers Say
No. Fucking. Shit.
glbrew··on Canada facing ‘brain drain’ as tech talent leaves for Silicon Valley
I'm an American but hate the US tech/SF/NYC scene (sorry), and I don't care much for money above reasonable living wage. Would it be easy for me to relocate to Canada? I've always scratched off moving abroad for concern over the complexity, but if there is a demand for me in Canada and it is easy it is definitely something I would likely do. I'm not willing to go through 10 years of legal craziness though which it what I have always imagined it to be.

GE has been trying to disrupt anesthesia for quite some time:

http://www3.gehealthcare.com/en/products/categories/anesthes...

Edit: Since its not obvious, they have some machines that can go in autonomous mode and alert the hospital if the patient needs an actual doctor to fix something.

glbrew··on San Francisco’s Seismic Gamble
That is why a huge number of people in Hill Country have helicopter insurance. It they have a medical emergency a helicopter will land on their hill and fly them to a medical center.
glbrew··on It’s Time to Make Our Privacy Tools Easier to Find
There is a lot of information the download did not include. Another example I noticed is your "affinity" for each user. They obviously track how close you are with each friend but didn't include that.
