geoffroy··on C++ and the Culture of Complexity (2013)
Does anybody know a good tutorial or book for learning modern C++ 17, focused on best practices (new language paradigms, TDD/BDD, etc.) ? Something like Michael Hartl's Ruby on Rails Tutorial

geoffroy··on Ask HN: What is your go-to example for a good REST API?
I implemented two APIs with it, mostly read oriented to be honest. The biggest problem we faced is the lack of maturity of Android and iOS SDKs for it.

geoffroy··on WebSockets: caution required
A very good article comparing SSE, Websockets, polling, long polling was posted a few months ago, still relevant : https://www.nateberkopec.com/2015/09/30/action-cable.html

geoffroy··on ChucK: Strongly-Timed Music Programming Language
When I tried it a few years ago, there was no way to read a stereo wave file :-) Looking at the changelog, it seems it was introduced around version 1.3.0. It was a showstopper for me then. At that time, I could not find an equivalent of SuperCollider's Patterns library which is fantastic : http://doc.sccode.org/Tutorials/A-Practical-Guide/PG_01_Intr...
geoffroy··on ChucK: Strongly-Timed Music Programming Language
Last time I checked, it was way less powerful than SuperCollider, and development was kinda stalled. Happy to see there is a new version though.
geoffroy··on Action Cable – Friend or Foe?
Really good article ! It would be nice to compare the perfs with an Elixir/Phoenix backend, since they target exactly this use case.
geoffroy··on Alda: A music programming language
Interesting ! Not that far from the new Common Lisp based language OMN brought by Opus Modus which was released early this year http://opusmodus.com/omn.html
geoffroy··on Ubuntu continues to rule the cloud
I'm not an expert about Linux server-side distros. I'm using Ubuntu Server, I haven't seen any cons for now. Any hint ?
geoffroy··on Ember.js 1.13.0 and 2.0 Beta Released
And they acknlowedge it : "We would like to thank React for showing that full re-renders can be made efficient. While we did not their precise Virtual DOM approach, their work with Virtual DOM was extremely influential to our approach in Glimmer." Fair play !

geoffroy··on A standard for building APIs in JSON
I had to write an API with lots of one-to-many and many-to-many relationships, with iOS, Android and JS apps accessing the APIs so it needed a mean to sideload data. I found JSONApi to be a good guide to building the API. Of course, I was a bit sad when the spec changed quite radically in its last iteration, but, hey, my API still works, that's not so bad.
geoffroy··on Understanding Rails' protect_from_forgery

geoffroy··on ChucK: Strongly-timed, Concurrent, and On-the-fly Music Programming Language
Thanks ! I didn't know there was a new version. The lack of stereo UGens brought me to Super Collider since then but I like the Chuck coding style. Cheers
