In short this is irrelevant for those interviews. It’s definitely relevant if you do python as a day job.
Fwiw - I don’t understand why it’s hated. It’s a collaboration tool - mainly messaging and conferencing. It’s been decent at that for me.
They didn’t own anything. It’s basically stolen off the backs of people. I have no love lost there or any grief at them being cut off.
Corporate America needs to get promotions out of the hands of the hiring manager chain of command. Create a board that’s independent and can deal with promotions impartially.
In absence of and independent entity handling promotions DEI is needed and necessary. Otherwise a lot of promotions are just plain nepotism.
You’re right, they’re dicts unless slots are used. I read the parent comment and saying you can define types easily. But you can with dataclasses
I don’t know of single US company that allows their workers on their board. I’m not against it. I think it’s an awesome idea.
They paid decent wages by Kenyan standards it seems. They did not force, exploit or abuse the workers.
There’s a lot of churn around meditation. In my experience it’s not something you do unless you really want to. Even then, do not stress. I started meditation at around 25 and have been doing it for about 20 years now. You do how much you can. Sometimes 30-35 mins, sometimes just 5. But you do it daily. There is no magical peace that comes with overdoing it. It’s not that there is no benefit though. I have noticed I can better control my emotions and let go of irritations a lot better.
Since last year as things have normalized, we basically restarted a bunch of their sports activities. Both kids had reading requirements from school and both seem to be in a spot where they will read before bed by themselves. The elder one reads quite a bit, probably around 1-1.5 hrs at night. The younger kid about 20-25 mins. They still do about 5-8 hrs of screen time each week. Still too much in my opinion but they also do a lot of stuff not on screen.
I still haven’t given them phones or devices. I myself have an iPhone-6 so not much runs on it either. But as the big kid starts being more independent I think a phone is going to be necessary.
My advice, if any, is keep non screen activities and person to person activity a priority. But keep in mind that her friends may get video games a lot earlier and they do form peers online which translate into peers in person.
I generally try to keep design out of architecture. It’s what you need to satisfy product or service needs. The technology gets into how you want to implement. I try to leave that to the tech lead for the team.
