garlicGum··on Ask HN: Is there a way to stop Google hijacking the URL?
You could use another search engine. Though, if you really want to use google you can open the article in another tab. That should give you the correct url.
garlicGum··on Revealed: Trump backer’s spy firm used by Met Police and Cabinet Office
It’s not surprising that the person who encouraged police brutality[1] and is a racist[2] teamed up with the racist police.

Sorry, but respectable people don’t shove 75 year old men to the ground and leave them.
garlicGum··on Microsoft Employees Call on CEO to Cancel Police Contracts
Given how much trump lies and spins the truth to suit his purpose[1], I don’t think it would make a difference. 1. https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/trump-comments-on-buffalo-p...

What about him?
garlicGum··on H4: ‘Kids Use Google Docs, but Lawyers Still Use Word and Email’
It seems like it would be either illegal or a really bad idea to use google docs or even gmail as a lawyer. It seems like you could be opening yourself up to a lawsuit for breaching attorney client privilege since google can scan every document and email created or stored on its platform.

There needs to be systematic reform. We can start with the demilitarization of the police, independent investigations, the end of qualified immunity, psychological evaluations, and harsher punishments for police. We also need to change the way the police and legal system interact. Right now, police are being protected by the legal system because courts depend on them too much.
garlicGum··on Nextdoor’s ‘Karen Problem’
Google “Dane Cook the friend that nobody likes”. That is the origin of Karen. Nothing sexist or racist about it.
garlicGum··on Nextdoor’s ‘Karen Problem’
Karen is simply that friend that nobody likes. Karen is a douchebag. Google “Dane Cook the friend nobody likes”. That is the origin of “Karen”
garlicGum··on Judge orders Denver police to limit tear gas, projectiles at peaceful protesters
Ha! They break the laws already in place to terrorize people. Adding a new one won’t change it. We need systematic reform.
garlicGum··on 57 Buffalo Police Resign from Riot Unit in Protest of Officers' Suspension
They are still on the force. The union said they aren’t going to pay their legal fees for the protests so 57 officers quit the emergency response team. They are still being paid to terrorize people.
garlicGum··on 57 Buffalo Police Resign from Riot Unit in Protest of Officers' Suspension
Yes, it is.
garlicGum··on Police are out of control. It’s time to hit them where it hurts: their budgets
Umm, police have been terrorizing citizens legally for decades.
garlicGum··on 57 Buffalo Police Resign from Riot Unit in Protest of Officers' Suspension
The loss of balance happens when someone uses excessive force and pushes a person.

He never reached for any weapon. Take a better look.

garlicGum··on 57 Buffalo Police Resign from Riot Unit in Protest of Officers' Suspension
The officer should be arrested. If a normal citizen was caught on video doing the same thing they would be in jail that night.

It is sickening police can get away with whatever they want.

I think it is time to bring in the coast guard!

garlicGum··on Slack Removed a Blog Post Showing How Police Use Its Tech
The legal system relies on police for testimonies, carrying out warrants for evidence, among other things. Because of this the legal system protects them unless the public is outrage.

Right now, police are legally allowed to bully the communities they serve. Not all police do, but the problem is normal citizens have no recourse to hold them accountable when they do. The system in place is evil for allowing such behavior to go unpunished and needs to be changed.

Are legal bullies a net good or bad?
garlicGum··on US Park Police: It was a ‘mistake’ to say no tear gas was used in Lafayette Sq
It wasn’t a mistake! It’s just another example of police abusing their power and then lying to cover their ass.
garlicGum··on If you see the cops, start recording
They take a job to protect the community. That would seem they are accepting the danger that comes with the job, but for the low low price of a gun they are passing that danger on to you! Yay!

Right now, cops are legal bullies that we have to suffer under.

garlicGum··on To defund the police, activists rewrote city budgets
I disagree. Police should never be the aggressors, and force should be proportional. Otherwise, they are legal bullies.
