gagabity

As an Android only Dev I cant disagree with any of his reasons, the tools especially are just terrible, its not unusual to spend hours trying to figure out why my project will not build, this is compounded if you live in a country with poor internet connectivity, GB sized updates to the tools are not fun.

I really hate that every messaging app nowadays requires a phone number to use, sure it makes some things easier but its very difficult to get a phone number anonymously. They should include an email signup option or even better just a username/password option although that would cause some issues with spammers, which can probably be mitigated in other more creative ways.

If I was operating a site? I dont think there is anything comparable at the free cost. But what you can do is turn the sensitivity if the captcha challenge down to 'Essentially Off' as detailed here https://support.cloudflare.com/hc/en-us/articles/200170096-H... the default setting seems to be way too quick to throw up a captcha.

It is shocking how many sites now use CloudFlare, I have recently switched ISPs and aparently my new ISP is SPAMMER and BOT heaven so almost every site I go to asks me to complete the Im Not A Robot Cloudflare reCapture. Really makes the experience suck.

Can you really overload S3? Also how long is the expiration time of CloudFront?

Seems like a very unreliable way to obtain sales numbers.

There is also http://www.teknohama.or.tz/. Their events seem to be geared mostly toward beginners and not to people already in tech. A lot of the events are organized at awkward times for someone with a 9-5, participants are also very young, I'm 31 and was probably the oldest at one of the Samsung events that was held at Kinu. This is not necessarily a bad thing though.

For my day job I use mostly SQL Server and a beast of an application which is written in VB and C#.Net by some developers in another country, I am only allowed to touch the configuration and scripting layer (C#) on this one and the thousands of configuration options it contains. But I do mostly Android in my spare time if I have the energy.

We are here!(Tanzania) Mostly working in shy demoralizing banking IT departments. I have began looking into immigrating probably to Canada or Australia due to their immigration policies.

Is it possible to get the hash and salt off the device while the phone is still locked and not in developer mode? If not this doesnt seem too serious as a security risk.

I'm getting an error in the app now too, "Cant connect to server"

Pretty sure this is a violation of YouTube's policy.

I was under the impression that Fortran Devs get paid pretty well, because its not the cool thing to do there isn't a lot of them.

Also the languages changing fast thing isn't really correct, Java, C++, C#, Javascript, PHP have been around a long time and still going strong, you could do your entire career in one of these.

First $1,000 Admob Ads.

If you had funding already then why not pour a couple of grand into advertising? That's a pretty sure way to get into the top sellers list.

Great looking phone, great price.

Price compared to testdroid?

This is quite thoroughly explained in the book, the anti-fragile benefits from adversity, the resilient does not.

7500,000 before Apples cut, and what about expenses? especially user acquisition.

The pricing page makes me nervous now, when do the charges start kicking in on the Innovation plan? I was looking at the old one earlier today which was much clearer about exactly what was free.

It is now against the Play store developer TOS to have notifications unless they clearly identify what App it is coming from, I think this makes things like AirPush much more difficult to pull off.

How long did it take? Any idea how much the AP data feed costs?

A bit of karma for trying to step on an MS event for the second time in a row.

This story actually seems to be more complex than most western media is reporting it, apparently the scientists issued false "everything is ok" messages possibly for political reasons, against what their data actually showed. At least that's what I picked up from the Reddit discussion.

I think its actually old private chat messages that are showing up.

About $300/Month on over a dozen Android Apps all Ad supported. AdMob with Mediation including Millennial Media.

That's a great way of accumulating a lot of 1 star reviews very quickly.

They no longer need the exclusive since PadMapper's workaround has been effectively killed by the changes Craigslist made to its robots.txt, Google is no longer allowed to index apartments thus PadMapper can not scrape the Google cache.

They took down an App I made for the Olympics also, 20,000 downloads in 2 days, AppBrain hot list, then poof its gone with the same generic "..intellectual property and impersonation.." warning, no specifics. They did reply to my emails but you might as well be talking to a robot, they wont tell you anything. My best guess is my use of the word Olympics in my app, but that's what people are searching for so removing that no one can find your app.

Could someone plug these into the AWS monthly calculator and try to figure out the monthly cost, when I try I get around $10,000 per Months, but I think I am wildly underestimating the bandwidth usage. AWS Calculator http://calculator.s3.amazonaws.com/calc5.html
